2008 Bmw 535i Twin Turbo Sport. Staggered Wheels. on 2040-cars
Cos Cob, Connecticut, United States
I am the owner of this vehicle and am selling it privately. I am not a dealer. I purchased this vehicle from a BMW dealer as CPO in 2010 and am the second owner. The car is in very good condition and has all maintenance records. The interior is excellent, no visible scuffs or marks. The exterior is very good, I would say about average to a little better than average for a car of this year. It has a few stone dings on the front but nothing that can't be touched up. There are no dents anywhere on this vehicle, even where the paint might be dinged. The bumpers are good, 1 or 2 minor dings but nothing major. This car has never been in an accident and has never had any body work or damage repair of any kind. The high pressure fuel pump has been replaced on this car. As anyone who knows these cars is aware, the E60's had fuel pump problems and these pumps were replaced by BMW at no charge. This car is all set and has also been recently serviced in the last 5,000 miles. It has the cold weather package and sport package including the sport seats, steering wheel and sport tires/wheels. The front and rear wheels are staggered with the sport package meaning that the rear tires/wheels are wider. This car has Z rated BFGoodrich Comp T/A's on it with about half their life left on them. The brake rotors were replaced at the last brake service and the brake fluid was flushed and replaced. This car has always had synthetic oil and it has always been changed at intervals of 7500 miles. The car had new spark plugs and air filter put in about 5,000 miles ago. The car really needs nothing and runs beautifully and is ready to go. This car was garage kept by me and has nice glossy paint and no signs of fading or cracking in the interior. I had an SUV as a second vehicle so I never drove the car in the salt/sand during the winter. Most of the miles I put on this car were on the highway traveling upstate to my various job sites. All of the interior options work perfectly including the sound system, A/C, heat, seats, windows, locks and controls. If there are any questions I can answer about this car, please let me know. I am a straightforward honest individual, check my ebay feedback. Do not bid on this car unless you can produce a cashiers check for the full amount within 5 days of auction end. The car is located in southwestern Connecticut, I can help facilitate shipment but the shipment would be at your expense on your carrier. Matt |

BMW 3 Series eDrive plug-in hybrid spotted in development
Thu, 06 Feb 2014BMW has shown its commitment to the development of hybrid and electric powertrains in recent years, with vehicles in its ActiveHybrid range, electrics like its BMW ActiveE and range-extended EVs like the i3 and i8. Plug-in hybrid-electric vehicles are clearly top-of-mind for the German automaker. We saw spy shots of the PHEV BMW X5 eDrive prototypes about a year ago, and now our shooters have come through with a 3 Series-bodied version of the technology, as well.
In addition to the obvious "Hybrid Test Vehicle" designation you see on the bodysides of this 3er, we also note that a second 'fuel cap' - presumably hiding the electric charge point - is in evidence. It's a fairly safe assumption that this 3 Series is making use of the same turbocharged four-cylinder engine and electric motor configuration that the X5 eDrive used. In the case of the X5, that meant a top electric-only speed of 75 miles per hour, with a range of just under 20 miles, and 0-62 mph in under 7 seconds. With considerably lighter, compact sedan bodywork clothing the PHEV drivetrain, we'd guess that the 3 Series eDrive could improve on each of those numbers.
BMW will show Mini EV concept at Frankfurt
Wed, Aug 30 2017A month ago, BMW announced that it would electrify all its brands and model lines, including the Mini hatchback. A forthcoming full-electric Mini will enter production in 2019 at the Mini plant in Oxford, England, where the production line would join a German-built electric drivetrain with a British-built body. BMW notes that this will happen exactly 60 years after the original Mini hit the streets. View 5 Photos As the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show is upon us, BMW has introduced the concept version of the aforementioned electric Mini. The manufacturer says the color scheme chosen for the concept matches the previous electrified Mini, the experimental Mini E of 2008. That car was produced in a trial run of 600 units, and it provided BMW with valuable data as it was developing the i3 model, currently on the market. The Mini Electric Concept is powered by a lithium-ion battery, but no numerical specifications or range figures have been announced. It will be interesting to see whether the driving fun inherent to Minis can be translated, as a battery electric vehicle will undoubtedly be heavier than a fossil-fuel hatchback. The closed front grille stands as testament for doing without pistons or a need for engine cooling. Tesla, BMW and Nissan meeting in secret to discuss charging tech
Tue, Jun 17 2014It's interesting what's happening in the electric vehicle field. It used to be that BMW and Tesla were competitors. Then – and of course they're still competing, especially in the public mind – they were working together on ... something. Maybe. And now, the Financial Times reports that the two luxury automakers are meeting with Nissan. Again, maybe. The scuttlebutt is that the three companies are interested in working together on something to do with charging electric vehicles, potentially a global recharging standard. Currently, when it comes to fast charging, BMW uses the SAE Combo standard, Nissan uses CHAdeMO and Tesla uses its own Superchargers. The meeting was prompted by Tesla opening of all of its patents the other day, FT says. Speaking during the recent annual shareholder meeting, Musk said he was "more than happy to have other manufacturers" use Tesla's Superchargers but that, "there is no other electric car that can accept anything close to 135 kilowatts." Let's assume the technical hurdle can be overcome. With any potential patent/licensing problems out of the way, these discussions with BMW and Nissan might be revolving around this other angle that Musk mentioned: "They (other automakers) just have to contribute to the capital cost, so figure out what percentage of the time are their cars using the Supercharger network and then they can make a contribution proportionate to their customer usage of the Supercharger network." That certainly sounds like something that could take some time to figure out.
