Are you ready for an easy project that will save you $5000+ on a really nice 07 BMW 525i? Here you go.. this car was stolen, some parts taken, then recovered..I buy these from the Insurance companies, fix them up, then resell. In this case, Im going to let YOU finish the project. All parts are readily available on eBay or other sources. I will go over a complete list of what it needs in a minute. NOW don't let the dust fool you, the paint is EXCELLENT..just a bit dusty..First, this car STARTS, RUNS, DRIVES..no problem with the electronic key..that all works fine. You could drive it home but there's no headlights...It also has stock alloy wheels with ALL BRAND NEW TIRES, P225/55R16..BRAND NEW 0 MILES!

SO- WHAT DOES IT NEED???
Here we go..starting on the outside..it needs both NON HID headlights, all the mounts and wiring is there and they did NOT cut any wires..plug in your headlights, bolt them down and you're good to go- NO WIRES WERE CUT ANYWHERE! All plugs are still there..next, you'll need the sunroof glass, the motor / drive are still there. You'll need both rear view mirrors, aftermarket mirrors are available on eBay. All that's left is a few trim pieces, the chrome strips along the top of the doors, and the black strips on the left and right sides of the windshield- windshield is GOOD! The last thing is below the doors there is a "skirt" that goes from wheel to wheel opening. Used / Aftermarket skirts are widely available. Ok, on the interior..you'll need a rear view mirror, and the trim that goes on the grab handle on the two front door panels ( dealer item I think ). The display for the I drive WAS missing but I have one coming and it is included with the car. The hood emblem is new and will be installed by the time it's shipped. The RH front glass is missing / broken..and will have to be replaced..I have a guy on eBay that has the part for $80 delivered..so I can lead you to him. THATS IT!
Do those few things and you're ready to go! I figure you're looking at about $1000 in parts, plus a few hours to plug in those pieces. Should be an easy weekend project. The car did recieve a salvage title because of the theft but was NOT WRECKED..All original paint and body..These cars are going for $15- $17,000 with clear titles..save a TON by finishing this easy project! Any questions? E mail or call Stu at 619-315-8428..PS there is only one spot of body damage, it looks as though the bad guys used some pliers on the door edge, pass side, to get in, the paint is still good, I think one of those "paintless dent removal" guys could fix it up, figure about $100...see photos for detail. Otherwise the body is in very good shape for a 2007! I don't provide shipping quotes but will make every effort to assist you in shiping..try Uship.com for quotes..need help? CALL ME ! :)

2015 BMW X4 slides in on the diagonal starting at $45,625 in the US

Wed, 05 Mar 2014

If BMW has shown us anything, it's a knack for creating niches and expanding its product portfolio. Go back to the early '90s and it had essentially four models: the 3 Series, 5 Series, 6 Series and 7 Series. End of list. Since then, the Bavarian automaker has not only taken on Mini and Rolls-Royce, but has expanded its own range of models exponentially. You can chalk a big part of that up to crossovers, and another sizable chunk to giving existing models a different roofline and calling it something new. What we have here is a prime example of both.
Previewed in concept form the better part of a year ago at the Shanghai Motor Show, the slantback version of the X3 (and the baby brother to the X6) is now here in full production guise. Mechanically it's essentially the same as the new X3 on which it's based, but amps up the "sport" at the expense of the "utility" part of the SUV equation.
BMW will undoubtedly offer a wide range of powertrain configurations in markets around the world, but back in the United States it'll be offered in two specs: the X4 xDrive28i, packing a 2.0-liter inline-four with 240 horsepower and a $45,625 sticker price (including destination), or the X4 xDrive35i with the 300hp 3.0-liter six and a $48,925 MSRP. Either way, you're getting an eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive.

Consumer Reports selling its road-tested roadsters [w/video]

Thu, 31 Jan 2013

Here's a chance to acquire a celebrity-owned vehicles, and this time at a discount instead of a premium. So the celebrity in this case is Consumer Reports, that magazine that could be equally adored and abhored by car enthusiasts. CR buys all of its test vehicles and usually finds willing second owners within its own ranks, but its opening its small used-car lot to the public. On the forecourt are four roadsters: an automatic 2012 Audi TT 2.0 TFSI Quattro S-Tronic with 6,600 miles for $36,500, a manual 2012 BMW Z4 sDrive28i with 8,400 miles for $45,000, a manual 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLK250 for $39,500 and a manual 2013 Porsche Boxster with 7,000 miles for $48,000.
Those numbers mean a savings of $9,000 to $10,000 before haggling - each car is listed with an "Asking price" so there could be some wiggle room if you show up with pockets full of dough and eyes full of serious intent. Since the money CR earns from the sales go back into the magazine's budget to buy more test cars, however, it probably won't take any oddball trades, so you can forget about getting any purchasing help from that track-day AMC Javelin project on blocks in the back yard.
The vehicles have been taken care of and spiffed up for sale; buyers will take delivery at the CR test track in East Haddam, Connecticut and get a tour of the facilities. While you're there they'll even take you on a lap around the track so you can feel how your car handles when driven by one of its testers. They will probably not help you with advice on which toaster and dehumidifier to buy - you'll still need to get a subscription for that. Have a look at the video below to see a day in the life of a CR test car.

Alex Zanardi back in the driver's seat with BMW

Tue, 21 Jan 2014

If there's ever been an inspirational story in the pantheon of motor racing history, surely it's that of Alessandro Zanardi. The Italian driver worked his way up the motor racing ladder, making it into Formula One and winning two CART championships for Chip Ganassi Racing back before the series re-merged into IndyCars. Tragedy struck in 2001 when he lost both his legs in a crash at the Lausitzring in Germany, but rather than accept his fate, Alex pushed on. Fitted with prosthetic limbs, he learned to drive a racing car with hand controls and got back in the driver's seat.
Zanardi drove for BMW in the European Touring Car Championship and then in the World Touring Car Championship that replaced it, landing on the podium several times despite his physical disadvantage. He left racing in 2009 to train for the Paralympics, winning two gold medals in London, but Alex apparently couldn't shake the racing bug. BMW modified one of its M3 DTM racers with hand controls for him to test later that year. And now he's returning to motor racing full time.
BMW has just announced that Zanardi will be driving a Z4 GT3 in the Blancpain Sprint Series, the successor to the FIA GT Series and short-distance counterpart to the Blancpain Endurance Series. The car has been modified with the hand controls the Bavarian automaker's racing department fitted to the aforementioned M3 DTM and will be fielded by the ROAL Motorsport team with which Alex challenged for the European Touring Car Championship last decade.
