I am regretfully selling my GORGEOUS 2004 BMW 545i. It is fully loaded and is TOP OF THE LINE in its own class. It has a hard to find color combination of Orient Blue Metallic and Beige interior; this has got to be the BEST kept 5 series anywhere!
This beauty comes with Sport, Comfort, Premium & Cold Weather Pkgs. Sport package includes: 7 Spoke Staggered Wheels, performance tires, adjustable front sport seats and shadowline trim. Comfort package includes 20-way seats with thigh, torso, upper back and neck support (in other words 7 series seats). Premium package includes: dakota leather upholstery, power glass moonroof, poplar wood trim, auto dimming mirrors (exteriors as well as interior), tilt down passenger mirror (when shifting into reverse), rain sensing wipers, Ambient lighting (LEDs arranged throughout the cabin) Homelink garage door opener and 4 way power lumbar support. Cold weather package includes 3 stage heated front seats (with customization of heating zones via iDrive), heated steering wheel and high pressure headlight cleaning system.
Apart from all of the features mentioned above it features iDrive with Navigation, Voice Command, Bluetooth, Flat Tire Monitor, Service Schedule Monitor, Active Steering, Active Roll Stabilization, HID headlights, Dynamic Stability Control, Valvetronic, among many more.
Extras I've installed have been iDrive compatible iPod/iPhone adapter that even works with voice command, US legal tint all windows (32% opacity), HID-color Angel Eyes (they are whiter and much brighter than standard), 1 year old floor mats that look new.
It has been my commuter for work. This Ultimate Driving Machine has ONLY 62,000 original miles, that's a little over 7,000 miles a year! Exterior comes in beautiful OrientBlau metallic color which matches perfectly to its beige leather interior. The interior is in absolutely great shape, it looks better than even some 1 year old cars! Both inside and outside of the car is in excellent condition. Exterior has very few dents, no major scratches, and the non smoker leather interior has no rips or odors of any kind, just look at the pictures. It has always been garaged and never smoked or eaten in.
The amazingly smooth and powerful 8 cylinder 4.4L engine has more than adequate performance and a super smooth demeanor . Miles per Gallon 16 City/ 25 Highway, I've averaged 19mpg in the city.
Power everything! Seats, windows, locks, steering, moonroof. 2 Zone fully independent automatic climate control with dual cabin air filters, 2 Position memory for both front seats, mirrors and climate control settings. iPod ready (an installation that is fully compatible with the car, a $500 dollar equipment, not a cheap aux cable). It has the optional Logic7 premium sound system that sounds absolutely incredible employing 13 Harman Kardon speakers (2 floor mounted subwoofers) with surround sound digital sound processing.
6 SPEED Manual Transmission shifts perfect. (DRIVE MANUAL! HAVE FUN, SAVE MONEY ON GAS AND SAVE YOURSELF FROM UNNECESSARY EXPENSIVE REPAIRS ON AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS) Steering is tight.
This car has never missed any service appointments. Always had fully synthetic oil recommended by BMW, always used premium gas.
I have all the original owner's manuals and service records. Front tires have around 40% of their tread-life left, rears are practically brand new since they've only been used for about 2,000 miles so they have 95% of their tread left.
As you know...BMW is one of the safest cars in the world.., airbags abound in the cabin. Originally the top of the line BMW 5 Series with a sticker of over $65,000 dollars! ORIGINAL CLEAN GEORGIA TITLE IN HAND! CLEAN CARFAX, this car has never been in an accident, always been in the south (rarely if ever has seen snow).
I have many more pictures available that can be emailed if requested. The ad is very descriptive but feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.
Thanks for looking!

10 automakers shack up in Detroit hotel to talk Takata airbags
Sun, Dec 14 2014Since Takata has decided not to take the lead concerning potential issues with its airbag inflators, the automakers have. Perhaps that's unsurprising, since it's the automakers, not Takata, that will take a beating on the dealership floor if consumers decide its models are a health hazards. The Detroit News reports that Toyota, Honda, General Motors, Ford, Chrysler, Mazda, BMW, Nissan, Mitsubishi and Subaru met in a hotel conference room near the Detroit Metropolitan Airport last week to sort out a way to understand the technical issues involved. So far, faulty airbag inflators have been ruled the cause of five deaths and 50 injuries around the world, but neither Takata nor investigators understands exactly why the inflators are malfunctioning. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recently asked Takata to issue a national recall, Takata declined, citing a minuscule failure rate and the fact that it's still investigating the issue. Toyota and Honda then made an industry-wide appeal for "a coordinated, comprehensive testing program" that would pinpoint the problem inflators and get them replaced, and that's what the Detroit meeting was about. Numerous issues, however, will make this a long row to hoe: simply getting the parts to replace the nearly 20 million inflators in cars recalled around the world so far - even working with other suppliers - will take a years, but more importantly, no one knows if the replacement inflators currently being installed will suffer the same issue. Answers will hopefully come quickly with Takata, the ten automakers and NHTSA all independently investigating the problem.
A car writer's year in new vehicles [w/video]
Thu, Dec 18 2014Christmas is only a week away. The New Year is just around the corner. As 2014 draws to a close, I'm not the only one taking stock of the year that's we're almost shut of. Depending on who you are or what you do, the end of the year can bring to mind tax bills, school semesters or scheduling dental appointments. For me, for the last eight or nine years, at least a small part of this transitory time is occupied with recalling the cars I've driven over the preceding 12 months. Since I started writing about and reviewing cars in 2006, I've done an uneven job of tracking every vehicle I've been in, each year. Last year I made a resolution to be better about it, and the result is a spreadsheet with model names, dates, notes and some basic facts and figures. Armed with this basic data and a yen for year-end stories, I figured it would be interesting to parse the figures and quantify my year in cars in a way I'd never done before. The results are, well, they're a little bizarre, honestly. And I think they'll affect how I approach this gig in 2015. {C} My tally for the year is 68 cars, as of this writing. Before the calendar flips to 2015 it'll be as high as 73. Let me give you a tiny bit of background about how automotive journalists typically get cars to test. There are basically two pools of vehicles I drive on a regular basis: media fleet vehicles and those available on "first drive" programs. The latter group is pretty self-explanatory. Journalists are gathered in one location (sometimes local, sometimes far-flung) with a new model(s), there's usually a day of driving, then we report back to you with our impressions. Media fleet vehicles are different. These are distributed to publications and individual journalists far and wide, and the test period goes from a few days to a week or more. Whereas first drives almost always result in a piece of review content, fleet loans only sometimes do. Other times they serve to give context about brands, segments, technology and the like, to editors and writers. So, adding up the loans I've had out of the press fleet and things I've driven at events, my tally for the year is 68 cars, as of this writing. Before the calendar flips to 2015, it'll be as high as 73. At one of the buff books like Car and Driver or Motor Trend, reviewers might rotate through five cars a week, or more. I know that number sounds high, but as best I can tell, it's pretty average for the full-time professionals in this business.
