We have owned this very clean nice and comfortable 2002 BMW 530iA for about 5 years. Selling because we bought a minivan for the growing family. More pictures are HERE. It has steptronic transmission. 6 cylinder, RWD. 225 hp. Constantly driven and maintained regularly. Premium package. Cold weather package. 108k miles. We put about 32k miles on the car during the last 5 years. Recent service earlier this year includes new intake CAM sensor, front break, break sensors, thermostat housing, Aux. fan switch, fresh cooland flush, new alternator. Michelin tires all the way around, still about 80% left. Maintenance records available. No warning lights. Engine oil changed with Mobile 1 full synthetic every 5k miles. Last oil change was done about 3K miles ago and you should be good for another 2K. Sunroot. AC ice cold. All power options are working. Front side airbags. Accelerates pretty fast and can do 30 mpg on the highway. Always premium gas. Powerful engine, solid feeling and comfortable quiet cruising at all speeds with good alignment. Whenever there is a problem with the car, it is fixed right away.
This car will last a long time without any major maintenance. Clear title in hand. Never any accidents. Never smoked in. It does have a few dings here and there. and a small dent on the passenger side rear wheel fender. NO RESERVE! Highest bidder wins the car. BMW 02 Series mini-documentary makes us fall in love all over again
Sun, 24 Mar 2013BMW's current reputation of building Ultimate Driving Machines can be traced back through history all the way to 1966, when the German automaker introduced the world to its 1600-2 two-door at the Geneva Motor Show. The car's name was simplified in 1971 to BMW 1602, and it went on to spawn the 2002, one of the most famous BMW models of all time.
BMW looks back on its past successes in a video that you can see below. As the automaker itself says in the video description, "This series was extraordinarily successful in reinterpreting the concept of the sports saloon and played a major role in motor sport long after production had come to an end." The 2002 would be replaced in 1975 by another legendary model from BMW: the 3 Series.
We'd be lying if we said we didn't long for something along the lines of the classic 2002 from BMW today. Since that doesn't seem likely to happen anytime soon, join us in remembering the cars that helped make BMW a household name by scrolling down below.
BMW M3 and M4 will rock 430 hp from twin-turbo six with standard manual [w/video]
Wed, 25 Sep 2013We're not sure which spec we're most intrigued by for the new BMW M3 and M4: the twin-turbo six-cylinder with 430 horsepower and "far beyond" 369 pound-feet of torque, the 3,300-pound curb weight or the standard six-speed manual transmission with automatic throttle blipping on downshifts. That engine is fitted with both Valvetronic and Double-Vanos, twin-wire arc-spray coating in the cylinders instead of liners to save weight, a track-ready cooling system with additional radiators, a forged crankshaft, dry-sump lubrication and a magnesium oil sump. BMW says its "high revving concept" has a redline beyond 7,500 rpm.
In the M4, it will be pulling a coupe with "a weight of just under 1,500 kilograms," which is 3,300 pounds to you and me. That number is said to include no driver and 90 percent fuel, but we're still waiting on the exact number and specs. BMW says it's "around 80 kilograms lighter than a comparably equipped predecessor model," putting the power-to-weight ratio at something like 7.68 pounds per horsepower at the same time as it helps reduce fuel consumption by 25 percent. The use of carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRP) for the roof, drive shaft (with no center bearing), trunk and front strut brace, and forged aluminum for suspension components, have aided in the weight loss. This time around, the sedan - the M3 - will also get a CFRP roof.
The default option will be a six-speed manual.
BMW 2 Series Active Tourer pulls its way onto the stage
Wed, 05 Mar 2014We know what you might be thinking: here comes another BMW with yet another kind of roofline. Only this isn't just another BMW. It's the first front-drive BMW, and the first time we've ever seen it in person.
That model, of course, is the new 2 Series Active Tourer, debuting here in Geneva as the production version of the Concept Active Tourer and the beefier Concept Active Tourer Outdoor that followed. It shares about as much with the 2 Series Coupe as a jelly donut, but takes BMW into a new market segment - that of the high-roofed hatchback (or micro-minivan, depending on your perspective) occupied by the likes of the Mercedes-Benz B-Class and Volkswagen Golf Sportsvan.
Power comes from a choice of 1.5-liter turbo three, 2.0-liter turbo four or 2.0-liter turbodiesel - but aside from the forced-induction engines what they all the versions have in common is what makes the 2 Series Active Tourer newsworthy: they all sit up front, driving the front wheels. It's an idea BMW purists might not appreciate, but one we'd all better get used to just the same.
