I'm selling my pride and joy 2001 BMW 540i Sport Wagon with Authentic Alpina Package and other extras. I have the pink slip in hand and the car has a clean title, no accidents.
The car is a prime example of how clean and well maintained a sought after BMW should be. It's very clean and runs very well and strong. According to BMW it is 1 of 406 made in 2001 but I don't know the count for actual sport models made in 2001, I'm assuming it's a small list.
All of the main maintenance needed on a E39 540 4.4 V8 have been done and taken care of. The car has had a preventative engine overhaul and will be fine for at least another 80k miles engine wise. I have the maintenance history for the time I have owned the car as well. The car has no mechanical issues besides the signs of wear that come with a 10+ year old car. The car comes from a car (BMW) enthusiast who has meticulously taken care of the car. She rolls smooth with no shakes. The car is adult owned.
My car was also featured in Frank Ocean's album teaser last year. Email me for the youtube link to view the video.
Here is a list of the parts on the car:
Authentic Alpina bumper spoiler
Authentic 20" Alpina Softline wheels (tires are 5 months new)
Custom exhaust with custom made quad Alpina muffler tips
BC Racing 30 way adjustable coilovers for comfort or sportiness on your demand (you can adjust to your preference)
Akebono brake pads (low dust and keeps wheels spotless)
iPod/ iPhone hook up
10" Kicker subwoofer and 400w Kicker crossover amp for subwoofer (made for speaker)
Model description
Titanium Silver exterior
Gray sport interior
Sport seats
with wood trim
M steering wheel
Tiptronic tranny
Self leveling rear suspension
4.4 V8
My car is probably the only 540 sport wagon with real Alpina parts in the US, I think. I don't know of any other around like this one here in the USA and I'm a car enthusiast.
Without some parts we can negotiate another price. But the car will come with all oem parts that were removed, including the 17" style 32 wheels and tires plus suspension parts and the stock resonator.
Price $12,900 obo (with all the extras which are worth over $6,000)
I prefer cash if you are a local buyer here in Southern California but wire transfer and paypal will work as well. I'm also open to showing the vehicle to local buyers.
Any offer is a good offer, just call me so we can talk about it or buy it now though ebay : )

Can the government mechanically force you to wear your seatbelt? [w/poll]
Fri, 30 Aug 2013
The National Highway Traffic Administration is considering the use of ignition interlocks in vehicles that would require the seatbelts of occupied seats to be fastened in order to drive the car, Automotive News reports, four decades after Congress moved to prevent manufacturers from installing them in cars sold in the US market. Following a transportation bill passed last year that lift some of the restrictions on seatbelt interlocks, automakers such as BMW are considering the benefits of using them in future cars. Now, before you go crying about your lost freedom, keep reading.
BMW said in an October 2012 petition that the use of seatbelt interlocks would allow the company to make lighter and more spacious vehicles, if the devices could be used in lieu of unbelted crash tests. The crash test has required the addition of bulky safety features, such as knee bolsters, that aren't as necessary when occupants are buckled up, especially when considering the dizzyng list of safety features that come standard on today's cars. Europe, which has a higher rate of seatbelt use than in the US, doesn't perform unbelted crash tests on cars sold there.
Recharge Wrap-up: BMW i3 goes against Mercedes B-Class ED, Tesla good for business
Wed, Sep 17 2014Car and Driver has published a comparison test pitting the 2014 BMW i3 against the 2014 Mercedes-Benz B-class Electric Drive. The test not only measured the quality of the driving experience, but also all the quantitative details that are especially important when looking at electric vehicles. For instance, the Benz's real-world MPGe surpassed its own rating, but it still couldn't match the BMW. The B-Class, though, won in the range department. We won't spoil all the results, or Car and Driver's overall pick, but you can head over to the article to find out for yourself. Tesla's expanding business, including the Gigafactory being built in Reno, NV, is encouraging growth in the locales and associated businesses. Some of Tesla's suppliers are talking of relocation, wanting to be close to the action stirred up by the electric automaker's expansion. It makes good business sense to be in the same neighborhood as Tesla. "We can react quickly, and our engineers are constantly working with Tesla," says Futuris General Manager Sam Coughlin. Brookings Institute fellow Jennifer Vey says, "The land around Tesla is being redeveloped and reimagined. It's a mash-up of an anchor campus, startups, housing and transit, in a physically compact area where companies can cluster and connect." Read more at San Jose Mercury News. EVs are doing even more to reduce energy use clean up the air, according to new analysis from the Union of Concerned Scientists. According to findings, 60 percent of Americans now live in areas where EVs do more to reduce emissions than hybrids, up from 45 percent in 2012. Average electricity use is now 0.325 kWh per mile, down five percent from 2011. EV performance - in terms of mileage and emissions - is improving compared to traditional fuel vehicles, based on the sources of electricity in various regions. Read more from the Union of Concerned Scientists. Zipcar's carsharing network has launched in Paris. Zipcar is expanding across Europe, and has already established itself in Austria, Spain and the UK. According to Zipcar France's General Manager Etienne Hermite, "In a highly populated city, Zipcar's model has been proven to remove up to 15 personally owned vehicles from the road for each Zipcar in service, reducing parking demand, congestion and emissions." Zipcar European President Massimo Marsili hopes that most Parisians will eventually be just a short walk from a Zipcar.
Confident new Cadillac marketing boss ready to take on Tesla, BMW
Thu, Jun 26 2014When there's a former BMW executive heading Cadillac's efforts to boost sales of its only plug-in, it's a pretty safe guess that the marketing emphasis won't be on environmental friendliness and tree-hugging tendencies. The General Motors luxury brand has appointed ex-Bimmer executive Uwe Ellinghaus to be its marketing chief late last year, and the German-born Ellinghaus is now saying that he's targeting potential customers of Tesla Motors, in addition to BMW, for potential growth in sales of the Cadillac ELR extended-range plug-in. Appointed to Cadillac's head of marketing last November, Ellinghaus recently told Advertising Age that GM needs to highlight the Cadillac's looks and performance. He complimented Tesla for putting more emphasis on those attributes in the Model S than on its lack of emissions or lack of refueling costs (but Tesla hasn't shied away from highlighting the EV's savings). Ellinghaus says that trying to gear advertising "for people who are tree-huggers and green-wash an entire brand" won't be successful. You don't say. So far, the ELR hasn't made much of a dent in US car sales. Through May, Cadillac, which spent about $280 million on all of its US marketing last year, sold 293 units, whereas Tesla had been approaching the 11,000-unit figure for the Model S. With that in mind, Cadillac may be working on a sportier version of the ELR, as spy shots of a test vehicle from May revealed larger brakes and wheels. You can read our First Drive impressions of the ELR here.
