Thanks for taking the time to check out my Ad. Selling this car is by far the hardest decision I've ever had to make but I need to make space and rather see the car in good hands than undriven and stored for a long period of time. What you're looking at is a car that has been meticulously maintained not only mechanically but exterior wise and in all other aspects. As with a 14 year old car there will be some imperfections but most are minor and do not affect the car's ability to perform. Unlike most BMW e39's for sale, this car has had extensive maintenance performed during the 10+ years of ownership, using nothing but the best parts (OEM Genuine BMW) and the most competent BMW techs. A list of the cost of parts excluding labor costs will be provided upon request. It is very important to know that an older BMW will cost a lot of money if not meticulously maintained in a timely and efficient manner. As with many e39s that are for sale on craigslist this is the case and it reflects on the price and condition of the cars. The price of this car accurately reflects a variety of factors including the KBB + a small percentage of the value of the amount of modifications and maintenance that have been completed thus far. 2 Owner car
Overview:
This car has a 2.8 Liter I6 motor with double vanos technology. The torque is readily available thanks to a new vanos unit with upgraded rubber seals and basic maintenance items. The transmission had been replaced 3 years ago due to a faulty component (BMW had known transmission issues for the 4 speed GM and 5 speed ZF). All OEM parts and fluids have been replaced as well as a new transmission unit. The car has about 102,000 miles on the clock and will not increase as it is not being driven. Oil changes occur every 5000 miles or 6 months using nothing but Lubro Moly 5w-30 synthetic BMW oil. This car burns no oil whatsoever so topping off is totally unnecessary. When driven, nothing but 93 grade gas from satisfactory gas stations is used. Of the few selected are Mobil's 93 octane, Sunoco's 93 octane, Shell's V-power 93 octane and in rare occasions, BP's Ultimate 93 octane. Factory equipped is the sport package which comes with the M steering wheel, sport seats, sports suspension and a thicker front sway bar. I have replaced the sport suspension with racing coilovers and added high grade aluminum spacers giving the car a more aggressive stance and stiffer, sportier ride. In addition the sway bar bushings have been replaced with polyurethane to resist deformation and give stiffer handling. Above all, the entire suspension has been replaced with genuine BMW parts (except for the coilovers). These include the thrust arms, lower control arms, front sway bar links, front sway bar bushings, tie rods, rear upper control arms, rear lower control arms, rear ball joints and bushings, rear sway bar bushings , rear sway bar links and coilovers (as mentioned earlier). This car has upgraded HID fog lights with slim ballasts outputting 35Ws with a 6000K color and factory equipped xenon headlights with an upgraded housing and 6000K D2S bulbs.
Basic Info:
This car has been pampered all of its life, never being involved in accidents, theft and recovery or any other undesirable situation. It has been used as a weekend car for most of its life and recently driven daily short trips about 4 miles total for a day. When parked it is by it-self in private and secure facility patrolled by security guards. If the weather is undesirable in any way (including but not limited to rain of any sort, snow of any kind, windiness, pollen or any weather form which may has the ability to cause danger) the car is stored away either in a garage or under four layers of protective fabric. Since this is not my only vehicle I can afford to leave this car undriven during bad weather for unspecified amounts of time. During the winter the plates are returned, the car stored away and covered tightly and the battery kept on a trickle charge until the spring time after the majority of the rain has passed. This process begins in late October to late April. In addition, the car is started at least once a week during the cold months to prevent leaking gaskets and frozen parts. During any storm or dangerous condition, the car is removed from the garage a week before and stored in an above ground, enclosed and secured parking garage until a week after, and removed only on a day when it is sunny or slightly overcast.
Exterior:
The exterior of the car is in amazing shape having only a few scratches on the front and rear bumpers, three small dents on the hood and a scrape on the passenger rear quarter panel from an unknown driver. This car is personally hand washed at least four times a week during summer and twice during fall, with a sealant applied directly after the wash and a wax applied after the sealant cured (in 8 hours). This car has a deep, rich gloss that makes the paint appear as if it were wet thanks in part to my washing and waxing procedures and the way it is stored. Before and after each drive, every single day, the car is wiped down with a spray detailer and microfiber cloth to remove any dust, pollen (when applicable), road grime and dirt, ect. The wheels and tires are cleaned in the same fashion. According to my personal journal, the car has been washed and waxed approximately 224 times since Jan of 2010. The wheels are painted white and can be powder coated white if the buyer wishes or refinished to a high-gloss polished lip and OEM silver center ( if full asking price is met). The rear tires are showing signs of wear but can last another year or so. I will replace with new if I get my full asking price. There is 35% tint of all 5 windows that compliments the car perfectly, that is, light enough for cops to ignore and dark enough to retain occupancy privacy.
Interior:
The inside of the car is in very good condition, showing wear in only a few small places. The steering wheel and driver's seat show wear as which could be expected in a car of this age, but will be repaired contingent on the deal made between myself and the buyer. The radio has been upgraded to an OEM BMW business radio and has a slight dark spot on the screen to the far right. Other than that there are no missing pixels of any sort anywhere else on the car. There are a few buttons missing from the center console which will be replaced upon an agreement between the buyer and myself.
Engine:
Mechanically the car outshines any other of its age. Over $7,000 has been invested in meaningful maintenance, to keep the buyer at ease. A list of the replaced parts will provided at the very bottom of this Ad. The motor is original and has not been replaced.
Summary:
All in all, there is MUCH more to this car than can be written here. For a more comprehensive explanation please contact me at 917 698 7779 or email me using the email provided with this Ad. Please put "Inquiry: 1999 BMW E39 528i" as your subject to the message or it will be blocked and marked as spam. I have many pictures to show and if serious I can arrange a personal viewing of the car. I am firm on my price and slightly negotiable having great knowledge of my car, the BMW e39 chassis and its place in the market. I am well vested in the NY BMW community and am known for my thoroughness. You will find a cheaper e39 but the cost will quickly add up when all the parts have to be replaced due to negligent owners. I am in absolutely no rush to sell and will not entertain insulting offers.I will however listen to offers that are equitable. Furthermore I reserve the right to terminate this Ad if I find a buyer or so please to do so.

BMW 2 Series, X5 get their M Performance parts on
Mon, 02 Dec 2013BMW models come in a number of flavors, from their standard guises to M Sport variants and M Performance models to full-on M muscle machines. But if you want to pick and choose the degree to which you want your Bimmer upgraded along the path to M, BMW automaker offers its M Performance Parts line. The Bavarian automaker already offers these performance and stylistic add-ons for a number of models, and has now released new kits for both the 2 Series Coupe and the latest X5 crossover.
The catalog for the 2 Series includes an available lowered suspension kit, upgraded brakes, new alloys, carbon aero kit and interior trim enhancements. There's also a power kit available for the 220d model that squeezes out an extra 16 horsepower for a total of 200, and a limited-slip differential and exhaust silencer for the M235i.
Upgrades to the X5 crossover, meanwhile, also include a carbon aero kit and interior trim package. The X5 xDrive35i model also gets a power kit boosting output by 20 ponies to 326 hp and an exhaust silencer. Scope out the details in the pair of press releases below and the pair of high-resolution image galleries top and bottom.
Are you the next BMW X5?
Tue, 15 Jan 2013Who knew that diecast model makers could be such a good source of leaks? Less than a month after a diecast model 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA in China, someone overseas at Diecast Empire or Jadi Modelcraft could get a bath in boiling oil for leaking uncamouflaged images of the next-generation BMW X5.
Naturally, that assumes that this image from a brochure from a Jadi brochure is indeed the F15 BMW X5 - it was posted to Diecast Empire's Facebook page. In its favor, the lines all add up if we compare it to the most revealing spy shots we have of the coming crossover - the headlight corners, the metal trim separating the kidney grille from the opening just above the license plate, the cut of the swage line, and the fact that the model picture reveals all of the most important character pieces that BMW has kept covered.
There's something written on the door of the model image that isn't in the spy shots, but that could be an xDrive badge. We will see the genuine article soon enough and we'll know for sure. For now, we might have already seen its facsimile in miniature.
BWM 135i with M3 V8 engine swap combines two things we miss the most
Thu, Apr 16 2015If you've ever listened to the Autoblog Podcast, you've doubtlessly heard my views on the BMW 1 Series M Coupe. I don't much care for it. That's not to say it's bad, so much as it just isn't what an M car should be. Steven Ewing, Seyth Miersma and a number of other Autoblog staffers think I'm crazy (It's true, he is crazy –Ed.), but whatever. My position on the 1M would be dramatically different, however, had it been fitted from the factory with the truly fantastic 4.0-liter V8 from the E92 M3 (the last great M car, in this writer's humble opinion). Matt Farah of Drive took to the wheel of a 135i that's been completely reworked by Performance Technic and is owned by Marco Svizzero. The car required a salvageable E92 and what we imagine is an incalculable amount of wrench time, with the result being, as Farah says, "possibly the best BMW you could build at any price." Oh, and it sounds absolutely delicious. Check out the car in action.
