THE WIFE SAYS I HAVE TOO MANY BMWs SO THIS ONE IS THE FIRST OF THREE THAT I AM GOING TO BE LISTING IN THE NEXT THREE DAYS. THIS ONE WE HAVE NICK-NAMED "THE MULE", NOT THE PRETTIEST OR THE FASTEST BUT RELIABLE AND STURDY. WE HAVE USED THIS FOR EVERYDAY USE AND HAVE MAINTAINED IT VERY WELL. IT HAS VARIOUS DINGS AND SCRATCHES IN THE PAINT BUT NO MAJOR DENTS AND NO RUST. IT IS A 1997 BMW 528i WITH THE STRAIGHT 6 ENGINE AND 4 SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. THERE ARE NO KNOCKS, TICKS, OR SMOKE COMING FROM THE ENGINE AND THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS AS IT SHOULD. THE BRAKES HAVE NEW ROTORS AND PADS ALL THE WAY AROUND AND THE ANTILOCK AND ASC CONTROL WORKS WELL WITH NO WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. ALL THE WINDOWS ROLL UP AND DOWN BUT THE SUNROOF YOU HAVE TO HOLD DOWN THE AIR DAM WHEN CLOSING IT. HEAT WORKS VERY WELL AND THE A/C BLOWS COLD. THE DEFROSTER ONLY BLOWS OUT HOT AND AT HIGH SPEED WHICH I AM NOT SURE HOW TO RESOLVE. THE CAR HAS THE COLD WEATHER PACKAGE WITH SEAT HEATERS AND HEATED STEERING WHEEL. RADIO PLAYS AND TAPE PLAYER WORKS AS WELL AS THE CD CHANGER. THERE MIGHT BE ONE OR TWO SMALL PIXELS OUT IN THE RADIO DISPLAY BUT BARELY NOTICEABLE. YOU MAY HAVE NOTICED THE 17 INCH SPORT WHEELS ON THE CAR. IT IS NOT A SPORT MODEL BUT I HAD PURCHASED A 98 BMW SPORT MODEL THAT WAS WRECKED FOR THE WHEELS BECAUSE THE ORIGINALS I THOUGHT WERE UGLY. I ALSO CHANGED THE LOWERED SPORT STRUTS AND SUSPENSION FROM THE PARTS CAR TO THIS ONE. THE CAR I GOT THE WHEELS FROM HAD A NEW RADIATOR AND THERMOSTAT HOUSING AND I INSTALLED THEM ON THIS CAR ALSO. I WOULD NOT HESITATE TO DRIVE THIS CAR ACROSS THE COUNTRY AND IT HAS RECENTLY DRIVEN ROUND TRIP TO MISSISSIPPI AND BACK AND AVERAGED 28 MPG. CONTACT WITHIN 24 HOURS OF END OF AUCTION AND PAYMENT IN 7 DAYS. IT HAS A CLEAR MISSISSIPPI TITLE. THANKS FOR VIEWING MY AUCTION

BMW considering building 3 Series in North America
Sun, 13 Apr 2014There might be even more BMWs coming from North America soon. The company recently announced plans to build a flagship crossover called the X7 at its Spartanburg, SC, factory. Now, rumors are emerging that the Bavarians might be thinking about building a second North American factory that could build its quick-selling 3 Series.
According to Bloomberg, the German luxury giant is considering several possible locations for a North American factory, including two in Mexico, that may build the 3. "We will decide this in the next months. On the North American continent, there's still potential," said BMW production boss, Harald Krueger, in an interview meant for company staff obtained by Bloomberg.
If BMW decides to open a plant in Mexico, it would be following its rival Audi, which already announced construction of a factory there. Mercedes-Benz has been rumored to be working on a deal with Nissan to build its cars South of the Border as well. Rumors of Bimmer considering Mexican production have also cropped up in the past, so it wouldn't come as a total surprise to hear it made official.
BMW i3s traction control tech going in all BMW, Mini cars
Wed, Jan 3 2018The BMW i3s is essentially a warmed-up version of the i3 electric car we all know and love. The performance boost isn't huge — just 14 horsepower and 15 pound-feet of torque — but it also gets a new suspension, wheels and tires as well as an improved traction control system. We found the car to benefit from all the updates when we drove it for our First Drive Review, but now BMW has offered up more details on just how the traction control system of the i3s helps make it better to drive. The company says it'll expand the technology to all future BMW and Mini models as well. The i3s's system is calibrated to help it to pull away quickly from a stop, making full use of the instantaneous torque offered by the electric motor. It also improves stability when accelerating out of corners, when using regenerative braking and, of course, when the road conditions are less than ideal. The results are palpable, and with the other improvements the i3s definitely feels stronger off the line, as we found on our drive. It's also about a half-second quicker to 60 miles per hour, at 6.8 seconds. The secret is in the response time of the stability control, which BMW claims is 50 times faster than the conventional system. This is made possible by moving the control process into the powertrain itself, rather than a remote unit. This reduces the signal path and, thus, the response time of the traction control system. BMW's Head of Chassis Development, Peter Langen, said of it, "With their high levels of torque and instantaneous responses to every movement of the accelerator, electric motors already make significantly higher demands on driving stability systems than conventional power units." While engineered to make the most of the electric motor, BMW says the shorter cycles of this traction control system show promise for internal combustion vehicles as well. As such, we'll begin to see the improved technology applied across the BMW and Mini lineups going forward. Related Video:
Updated BMW X6 spied running the 'Ring in Germany
Tue, 22 Oct 2013Following the debut of the X5 earlier this year, it shouldn't come as a shock that BMW is testing an updated X6 in its homeland. The Munich-based manufacturer trekked to the Nürburgring to test the lifted, four-door coupe it calls a Sports Activity Vehicle, while also giving us our first peak as to what the future holds for one of the weirder models in the brand's stable.
Mainly, we can safely expect the next X6 to get the same range of refinements made to its platform-mate, the X5, which debuted earlier this year. If we're lucky, that could mean an X6 sDrive35i, complete with rear-wheel drive with which to fling the big SAV about. Adding a rear-drive option could also broaden its admittedly limited appeal by lowering the cost of entry, which could serve the pricier X6 well. As a point of reference, the X5 sDrive35i is priced at $2,300 below an xDrive all-wheel-drive-equipped model.
The X6's top-flight xDrive50i model should get the same 45-horsepower bump as the X5 xDrive50i, thanks to refinements to its twin-turbocharged, 4.4-liter V8, while the 3.0-liter, turbocharged six-pot should remain unchanged. We wouldn't hold our breath for an X6 diesel to arrive, although weirder stuff has happened. Like the X5, though, this should be a pretty slim refit that improves an already competent package to go along with an expected increase in price.
