1994 BMW 530i Touring, RARE 3.0 V8 M60B30 engine. 5 Speed Automatic 198432 miles. 4.0 (M60B40) intake, throttle body, ECU, injectors and MAF conversion.
Small burn (at start only, once a day) /leak of oil, requires about a qt of oil every 5000 miles.Transmission shifts smooth, however, under heavy breaking, a little delay occurs for transmission to engage properly. Recent work includes: water pump, rotors and pads, intake gaskets, valve cover gaskets, exhaust resonators and speed sensors, hood and tail gate struts replaced. No warning codes, while pressing the check botton in dash. All the systems check ok, as shown in picture. At idle, sometimes check engine light goes on, after accelerating, it goes off; small intake leak somewhere (it did this before the 4.0L conversion too) All power windows work except front passenger; it is off track. Both sunroofs, front and back work properly.Seats in great condition with minimal wear.Power seats work, going up, only one end does it at driver side. AC is not working, AC blower is included with the car. Power mirrors. All gauges work at instrument cluster. Headliner needs to be re attached at front and it is missing at the back. Some rust at the bottom of the doors, paint job is fair and dents here and there visible in pictures. Needs new tires. All glass is good except windshield, cracked at the bottom, not visible from the inside .A decent running rare BMW that I would take anywhere in the country, runs very smooth without suspension noises or vibrations. Bushings and suspension components ok. Rear end suspension and differential/side shafts all good. Steering is firm without noises or play. Full size spare.Late model Sony stereo CD with pandora, bluetooth, etc.Back bumper replaced (Gray) after minor collision; no damage to rear quarters.Selling the car without any expressed or implied warranties. Clean title to my name without liens. Very low reserve, test drives welcome prior to purchase. If reserve met, final bid is final price; no exceptions. Great Touring Wagon to fix as you drive. I'll answer any questions via email, please use "ask seller a question" and I'll respond as soon as possible. Don't miss it! Good luck! |

BMW wants world drifting record back in US
Sat, 23 Mar 2013BMW just can't stand the thought of the world record for the longest drift winding up in the hands of someone else. The German automaker is set to take a crack at setting a new record by blowing the old one straight out of the water. A driver in China holds the current title after kicking a car sideways for a full 3.6 miles. Now, on May 11, BMW Performance Driving Instructor Johan Schwartz will attempt to pitch a BMW M5 sideways for some 40 miles as part of a stunt to raise funds for the BMW Pro-Am Charity.
We've had the distinct pleasure of riding with the instructors at the BMW facility in South Carolina, and we can tell you that if anyone can keep an M5 at full tilt for 40 miles, it's these guys. BMW has released a teaser video to drum up attention for the stunt. You can catch it below.
2015 BMW X4 slides in on the diagonal starting at $45,625 in the US
Wed, 05 Mar 2014If BMW has shown us anything, it's a knack for creating niches and expanding its product portfolio. Go back to the early '90s and it had essentially four models: the 3 Series, 5 Series, 6 Series and 7 Series. End of list. Since then, the Bavarian automaker has not only taken on Mini and Rolls-Royce, but has expanded its own range of models exponentially. You can chalk a big part of that up to crossovers, and another sizable chunk to giving existing models a different roofline and calling it something new. What we have here is a prime example of both.
Previewed in concept form the better part of a year ago at the Shanghai Motor Show, the slantback version of the X3 (and the baby brother to the X6) is now here in full production guise. Mechanically it's essentially the same as the new X3 on which it's based, but amps up the "sport" at the expense of the "utility" part of the SUV equation.
BMW will undoubtedly offer a wide range of powertrain configurations in markets around the world, but back in the United States it'll be offered in two specs: the X4 xDrive28i, packing a 2.0-liter inline-four with 240 horsepower and a $45,625 sticker price (including destination), or the X4 xDrive35i with the 300hp 3.0-liter six and a $48,925 MSRP. Either way, you're getting an eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive.
BMW planning Chinese recall for engine part issue [w/video]
Mon, 17 Mar 2014After receiving an unspecified number of complaints in China, BMW has reportedly started a "full investigation" into what may be a defective part in its VANOS engine control system. BMW said via a Chinese blog that it would file a recall application with the the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine in China.
BMW has not yet announced how many vehicles will be recalled, or which models the potential recall might cover. We're also curious as to whether the VANOS issue could extend into markets outside of China.
We've placed a call with BMW in the United States, and will update this post as soon as we hear back. Stay tuned for more, and if you're curious about what VANOS is and how it works, scroll down below for a video animation.
