I have owned this beautiful eye catching car for 6 years...it has never left me stranded...this car started life in NJ then moved to FL after a few years and never went back,,,I think it had 4 owners before me,,,but I remember for sure that it had no wrecks reported (otherwise I would not have bought it) I think I still have the report somewhere and will post it when it's found.
Many new parts,,, new "appropriate" battery by that I mean the special one with the correct ratings, and this one is under the hood NOT under the rear seat,,,radiator,,,new muffler put on when I bought the car ( I had a shop do this for about 400 ) upper and lower radiator hoses and mounting clips,,,water pump(metal impeller),,,new fuel pump,,,newer fuel filter,,,newer A/C condenser,,,A/C needs re charged,,,newer bulbs for headlights and on board computer,,,front ceramic brakes,,,k and n filter,,,brand new alternator with lifetime warranty,,,newer ignition coils,,,recent transmission flush,,,all front suspension and steering linkage inner & outer tie rods and center link,,,upper and lower control arms, including aluminum front lower control arms,,,newer rear sway bar links(dog bones),,,newer 5 series rims from I think 2006 with hub centric rings on all 4 with tires at 30% tread remaining,,,newer after market CD am FM radio head unit,,,newer side marker light lens housings,,,,,,newer used driver seat without heat,,,passenger seat has heat,,,...
Some extra parts included in this sale are as follows,,,extra hub centric rings for rims,,,new front kidney chrome for both sides,,,extra 6 ignition coils from last spark plug change,,,a new wheel hub never installed because it wasn't needed (the car had a shake when I got it and I didn't know about the control arms issue's that were causing this, replaced control arms and the shake went away),,,new oil filter and o ring's set,,,a new oil pan gasket still in package (another item I found out I didn't need to replace when I first got the car),,,new intake manifold gasket rings set (another one of those parts I thought I needed).

CLEAN TITLE IN HAND...LOCAL PICKUP ONLY...HOWEVER IF NEEDED I WILL ASSIST IN VEHICLE DELIVERY COMPANY HIRED BY "YOU" THE NEW OWNER....THANKS AND HAPPY BIDDING!!!

Body does have some rust on lower parts of the doors and the usual area's but not at all "rusted out",,,the usual small dings and such but overall the body is in really good shape.
Interior is about a 6 out of 10,,,leather has some cracks on seats,,,door panels are sagging some and the passenger side panel vinyl is completely removed but the skeleton back board is good,,,drivers side is livable,,,rear driver side is best and the rear pass. side is next best,,,see pics...headliner sags a little but doesn't interfere with head or mirrors & I'm 6'2'',,,drivers window needs new clips for the track and the lock fixed.
Motor runs smooth and quiet,,,small oil usage/leak,about 1 quart per month, but this BMW tells you when it's low( it doesnt leak on the ground only "uses" oil when running),,,slight tick at cold start ups,,,it does not affect the performance of the motor,,just sounds funny for a little while,,,but that's normal for this age of car,,,(it's the hydraulic lifters that do this,,,unfortunately it's pretty much an engine overhaul that would fix this) but if that's your intent then this is perfect for you,,,or a 5 speed swap/overhaul???

Transmission shifted perfectly for 6 years, then around 3 months ago I started getting the "Trans Program" message on the dash,,,this happened about 6 months after I first got the car but I was able to use some checklists off the web to diagnose the issue and resolved it myself after a couple days and it has shifted fine for the next 6 years or so...back to now,,,when this message comes on the car locks itself into "limp mode" and only allows use of 3rd gear and reverse...this message appeared maybe twice a week at first then would go away,,,and shift fine in all gears....for a while...then go out again,,,now this happens at every start up.  So I have gone through the web checklist I found years ago and have repeated every check I did before and no change.  Then I did a trans. flush and now I have 2nd gear in addition to 3rd and reverse...better but still get the message on the dash.  So my checklist still has two more things to check...one is a solenoid next to the trans. filter in the trans...and the other is a speed sensor in the tail of the trans...(sensor is on top of rear trans. tail and hard to get to) so I have not checked this...some others have reported success in just the cleaning of this sensor,,others have had to replace it for results...this part is about 60 on ebay..part number 24151219659...or the solenoid is around 50 from a supplier...however a 5 speed swap would solve this issue...and make this car even more FUN to drive on the road or track it and add a roll bar and some nitrous...hehehe...I would love to do all this myself as I have performed all of the above repairs on my own,,,but now my days are much busier with young children etc...I will also include all the information and web site names and such with the new owner to help in any way I can,,,plus all the receipts I have on the car...a complete Haynes manual on cd with full wiring diagrams,,,other schematics and diagnostic pdf. files I have located...and even advice on repairs and parts locating...I still have another one of these that I have nearly completed restoration on but will be keeping it as my daily driver...feel free to ask ANY question that may come up.

I will add more pics in the coming days...also send a phone number to get pics in text.

...all items are described to my best ability..but I don't claim to be an expert on any item,,so ask questions first please...as is...no returns...no refunds...pay pal only...U.S. lower 48 only...I reserve the right to cancel a zero feedback bidders' bid, without question..so just contact me first please...I never pay return shipping, for any reason...most all items are shipped u.s.p.s. priority or parcel post & insured when appropriate, or the best, safest alternative based on the item size & pricing...CHECK OUT MY OTHER ITEMS TOO!!!! thanks...jw.

BMW revisits its 8 Series

Thu, 04 Jul 2013

So why would BMW choose July 2 to release a retrospective on the 8 Series? Could it have something to do with the recent unveiling of the Pininfarina Gran Lusso Coupe concept, another sleek, B-pillarless V12 two-door, at this year's Villa d'Este? We have no idea, but the timing is likely coincidental.
This three-minute look at the 8 Series talks to Niels Hamann, who was smitten with the long-hooded coupe when it appeared in 1989 and finally bought one in 2004. Hamann also happens to be a project manager at BMW, and that came in handy when he wrote a book detailing every aspect of what was BMW's flagship for ten years but to the chagrin of many only managed one generation.
While we wait for the next clue about the Gran Lusso - 8 Series connection, check out the video below.

BMW celebrates 30 years of M5 with 600-hp super sedan

Wed, 07 May 2014

It's been 30 years since BMW rolled out the first M5, and while displacement and cylinder count may have fluctuated over those past three decades, output has only increased. The first-generation E28 M5 packed a 3.5-liter inline-six with 252 horsepower and 243 lb-ft of torque. The second-gen E34 model that followed added an extra 100 cc (and later 200 more) to produce 310 hp and 266 lb-ft. The E39 followed with a 4.9-liter V8 churning out 394 hp and 369 lb-ft, replaced by the award-winning 5.0-liter V10 in the E60 with its 500 hp and 380 lb-ft before BMW rolled out the latest model with a 4.4-liter V8, its twin turbos making up for the two dropped cylinders and 600 cc of displacement to produce 560 hp and 502 lb-ft of torque. But even that's being left in the dust by the new special edition you see here.
The 30th Anniversary Edition BMW M5 packs that same 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8, but cranks the output up to a nice, round 600 horsepower and a solid 516 lb-ft of torque to go with it. That makes it more powerful, not only than any M5 that's come before it, but also any of its rivals. The Jaguar XFR-S and Audi RS6 Avant (the latter only available as a wagon and not in North America) both lag behind this ultimate of Ultimate Driving Machines; only the Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG trumps it on torque (but not on power), with 531 lb-ft in stock form and 590 in the S-Model.
As a result, the 0-60 time drops from a quoted 4.2 seconds in the stock M5 to a scant 3.7 in the 30th Anniversary edition (just one tick behind that twistier E63 S). The special M5 also comes with the Competition Package as standard, as well as a dedicated control module for the Active M Differential, a special Frozen Dark Silver matte finish, 20-inch alloys and black chrome badges. Special badges abound inside as well, where you'll also find black leather and Alcantara upholstery and aluminum trim. There'll even be a dedicated one-day course offered to owners at The Thermal Club in Palm Springs, CA, to further sweeten the deal.

Mini might build a sedan because it's running out of shapes

Wed, Apr 13 2016

Rumors suggest we could soon see a Mini with a trunk to haul your junk. Autocar cites unnamed insiders who claim the sedan is part of the brand's plan for upmarket growth. There's even a possibility the new model could use the Riley moniker in reference to the Elf (pictured above) from the 1960s, which was a Mini with a tiny trunk. The Mini sedan would use BMW's front-wheel-drive platform that underpins the X1 and Clubman and might share the wheelbase and frontend styling with the Clubman as well, according to Autocar. Mini's execs think the four-door would perform especially well in North America and China, where there's less demand for hatchbacks. Ralph Mahler, vice president of Mini's product management, hinted at the possibility of the four-door to Autocar. "For example, in Asia and the US, the sedan segment is very big. This is very interesting to us, of course," he said. Mahler admits that many people don't know about the Mini-based vehicles with trunks from the '60s, like the Riley Elf, so it would be hard to market the new model on that heritage. This could be the perfect time to add a Mini sedan to the lineup, and it might not be a completely new idea for the brand under its BMW stewardship; a rumor from 2012 shows that Mini's bosses considered a four-door at least once before. The company launched new versions of its Hardtop, Convertible, and Clubman, and even added four-door and all-wheel-drive versions of the Hardtop to further blur the lines between that car, the Clubman, and the Countryman. The next-generation Countryman crossover should debut later this year, and the brand reportedly cancelled the Superleggera Vision roadster and Rocketman compact, as Mini has chosen to go big with its new models and its lineup breadth. There are only so many versions of a hatchback a company can make, and the short-lived Mini Coupe wasn't exactly a huge success. If Mini is going to try a new body style, a sedan actually makes some sense, even if we'll probably prefer the look and practicality of the hatches. Related Video:
