Hello all and thanks for viewing!  I have my 1989 535i up for sale. I hate to part ways with her, but I have a few more projects lined up that I need to complete.  The car has 89,112 original miles on it and runs great. As the name suggests, it has the legendary "senior six" m30b35 engine coupled to a 5 speed transmission-a fairly rare combo! The body is solid, and I don't see any rust whatsoever.  The paint is decent, but the hood is faded, and the front bumper is cracked a bit.  There are a few dents, but nothing major.  This car had been sitting a while and will need a set of tires on it.  They hold air, but are starting to dry rot.  The transmission shifts great with no abnormal noises or grinding, and the clutch engages smoothly.  The interior would be a 7/10 as there are some cracks in the leather, but nothing major.  The driver side recline on the seat doesn't work well, but it does slide back and forward fine.  The passenger seat works fine, the sunroof works, the ac does not blow cold, the compressor doesn't kick on. I have replaced the fuel pump, clutch slave cylinder, changed the oil, flushed the coolant and changed the fuel filter.  This car has been driven daily 50 plus miles a day for the past couple months with no issues. I also have a set of oem m5 side skirts and brand new oem m5 door fillers that come with the car.  There is a set of stainless steel brake lines in the trunk that I bought and never installed.  This will make a great project for someone who is looking for a nice cruiser.  I just do not have the time, as I am tied up with my other projects. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me!

BMW maintenance plan no longer transferrable to 2nd owner

Tue, 12 Aug 2014

One of the best innovations in car buying in recent years is the rise of no-cost scheduled maintenance programs. Many people feel really anxious about taking their car in for service, and these deals help mitigate that somewhat. Obviously, it's not free for automakers to implement the offers, and now BMW is altering the way its four-year, 50,000-mile Maintenance Program works for some owners. "To keep such an offer sustainable we had to make a change," said Kenn Sparks, Manager of Business Communications at BMW North America, to Autoblog via email.
The original person to buy or lease the model isn't going to see any difference, but the program is no longer transferable to a second owner, unless that person is in the owners household. Those people include includes parents, siblings, grandparents and grandchildren, in addition to someone like a spouse or children. The original owner just has to advise BMW of new user. "The program change will affect 2nd owners and for them BMW is introducing an optional full-maintenance product that covers the vehicle up to 100,000 miles," said Sparks. BMW expounds on i8 design and performance in new videos

Fri, 03 Jan 2014

At this point, there isn't much we don't know about the 2015 BMW i8, so BMW is starting to focus its attention on reassuring consumers that the future of BMW won't abandon the past. In these two recently released videos, BMW answers questions prospective buyers might have about about the new model's design and performance.
In the design video, BMW explains how the i8's styling is intended to be practical, with aerodynamics and fuel efficiency in mind, yet still have a sporty and dynamic look. The performance video aims to show that the plug-in hybrid can be fuel efficient while still delivering plenty of performance, and it shows an animation about how the i8's drive systems work together. Scroll down to watch both videos on this bold green supercar.

BMW begins restoring Elvis Presley's 507 [w/video]

Thu, 24 Jul 2014

Imagine the King of Rock n' Roll driving a car and you'll likely picture a pink Cadillac or a yellow De Tomaso shot full of holes. But Elvis also owned a 1957 BMW 507 roadster, and now that roadster is returning home to BMW headquarters.
The 507 was a rare bird, of which only 254 examples were ever made. They were sold mostly to celebrities and royalty, but Elvis Presley was a GI when he bought it while stationed in Germany. The example that he bought had been displayed at the Frankfurt Motor Show, used as a press car and raced by Hans Stuck (which is how Elvis came to see it in the first place), so when he took delivery of it second-hand, the dealership had a new engine installed. It was originally white, but legend has it that Elvis got tired of women writing their phone numbers on the side of it in lipstick that he had it repainted in red.
Stories differ on what exactly happened to it next, with some saying that he returned it once the lease was up and other saying that the army shipped it back to him in the States after his tour was over. But what we do know is that the car sat for many years, neglected but sheltered from the elements. Now it's heading to the the BMW Museum in Munich, where it will be on display until August 10, after which the BMW Group Classic department will undertake a comprehensive restoration of the star-studded roadster that's expected to take two years of work.
