This 1987 BMW 535iS is an awesome example of german sports sedan.  It has only 123000 miles on it.   The M30B34 inline 6 powerplant is a torque monster.  This car is a blast to drive and I have received many compliments.  As for the overall condition of the car, I would describe it as great bordering on excellent.  The interior is in great condition and no need for any work to be done to it.  There are a few minor (1" or less) cracks on the dash.  All power accessories work and seats are in EXCELLENT condition.  As for the exterior, we had a hail storm here in 2012 and there are a few dings on the hood, roof and trunk lid.  The previous owner upgraded the picnic table bumpers to "Euro Spec" bumpers and front head lamps.  I replaced the taillight bulbs with LEDs and have had no problems whatsoever.   It really makes the car look different.  The wheels are factory BMW M5 BBS wheels.  Tires are Toyos with about 70% tread left.  There are a couple doors dings, but they can be fixed easily.  As for mechanical,  this car does not leak a drop of oil.  It has passed TN emissions for the past 6 years with flying colors and the thrust arms, guibo and center bearing have been recently replaced.  It has always been serviced with a BMW shop through it's entire life and used only Mobil1 synthetic oil.  The limited slip differential still works brilliantly and overall, this car will last at least 200,000 more miles if properly maintained.

A note:  If there are any bidders that have have a 0 - 5 rating, please contact me prior to bidding.  I do not want to get burned on my car.  There are plenty of people on here that would be happy to purchase the car and I don't want to pass on them.  A bird in the hand is my way of thinking.  I hope you understand.

Company car offers in decline, but not at The Cheesecake Factory [w/poll]

Sat, 22 Jun 2013

As businesses look to keep high-level employees happy, it seems that use of company cars can still be an effective method, although fewer companies are employing it. According to Businessweek, only about 25 percent of companies offer company vehicles as a perk, while less than half give allowances for employees to use their personal vehicles for work purposes.
The report says that one business still in the practice of handing out company cars is The Cheesecake Factory, which offers the benefit to top managers. And we're not talking about some econobox, either. The article indicates the restaurant chain hands out BMWs on a three-year basis - although the company's own report says that the type of vehicle "varies with the executive's level."
Still, we mostly agree with the article's conclusion that money is the best way to keep employees or attract new ones, even if a corporate car is a big perk. What do you think? Let us know, in the poll below, whether a company car could sway you to work for a certain company (not just the Cheesecake factory, where the "Glamburgers" portion of the menu alone is enough to keep a guy hanging around).

BMW 1 Series GT spied in 7-seat trim

Mon, 20 May 2013

As BMW prepares to introduce its first-ever front-wheel drive car, the upcoming 1 Series GT, it looks like there will be at least two versions of the car. A conventional-looking hatchback was spotted testing late last year, but now we see an extended-length version in order to accommodate a third row of seats.
Judging by these spy shots, this 1 Series GT prototype has received an extended wheelbase, larger rear doors and more upright D-pillars compared to our previous spy shots (show in the gallery below) all with the aim of creating additional passenger and cargo space. Like the smaller 1 Series GT, this longer model would likely carry over the same powertrain options, which are expected to consist of three- and four-cylinder engines, a hybrid system and the choice of front- or all-wheel drive. The 1 Series GT could make its debut this fall at the Frankfurt Motor Show, but we might have to wait until next year to see the people mover.

BMW Vision Future Luxury arrives in Beijing dressed to the nines

Sat, 19 Apr 2014

Almost two weeks ago, we reported that BMW may be bringing a concept to the 2014 Beijing Motor Show that could herald a flagship 9 Series model that would be better suited to do battle with the tip-top of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class range than the current 7 Series. Well, here it is. This is the Vision Future Luxury Concept, and straight away, it looks suited to the role of ultra-luxury flagship.
In our original story, we reported that the Beijing concept would wear styling similar to the Pininfarina Gran Lusso Coupe that was shown in Villa d'Este nearly a year ago. Unlike that car, the Vision Future Luxury sports four doors, although its roofline plunges aggressively enough for it to be considered a four-door coupe. That doesn't mean it will compromise on rear-seat space, however. Judging by the length of the rear doors alone, this is a very large vehicle.
Its styling, though, is, as we reported, quite familiar. We can see the evolution of the Concours' concept's styling, with a narrower grille that still leads up into the hood. The thin headlights use BMW's Laserlight technology while retaining a shape similar to the Gran Lusso, and the lower intake is dominated by a carbon-fiber air deflector on both ends. BMW's Air Breather system can be found behind the front wheels, adding an accent along the lower portion of the doors. In back, organic LED lighting is used for the super-slim taillights.
