THE OVERVIEW

Finished in Alpine white over black/blue, this 37 year-old last-year California blue license plate classic double 02 features a good running 2.0 liter four cylinder engine mated to a 4 speed manual transmission, 13" Alpina-style 320i alloy wheels with newer tires, factory radio and clean California title. While the five-digit odometer shows just over 59,000 miles the actual mileage of this car is unknown. THE BODY AND TRIM
The exterior of this car is in FAIR to GOOD, 99% rust-free condition overall. The now white paint was redone at some point [over the original silver color]. It would describe it as a presentable "10-footer" with various nicks, scratches, touched up spots, and other miscellaneous blemishes. The good news is that this car is 99% rust-free with excellent solid shock towers front and rear and floorboards. The wheels could use a refinishing and new roundel center caps with the tires being close to brand new. Please know that this is NOT a concourse-ready show car but a decent looking driver and/or a good solid foundation to restore.

THE INTERIOR
The interior of this 2002 is in fair to good condition overall! It sports beautiful original uncut door panels, 320i black front and rear seats in good condition, nice headliner, some heat cracking on the dash, faded original carpeting and nice original woodgrain-look trim on the instrument cluster. The radio and heater fan are inop, the blinkers, horn and lights all work well.

THE DRIVING EXPERIENCE
This classic BMW starts, runs and drives decent but far from perfectly. With barely triple-digit horsepower on tap, it certainly will not keep up with a new M3 though revs fairly smoothly and willingly with good shifting transmission, solid braking with good pedal feel, decent though slightly creaky suspension, good steering feel, quiet exhaust and nice open airy cockpit. I, frankly have only driven the car around town locally!

BMW X3 spied with nip and tuck nearly complete

With the style-driven BMW X4 coming along in development, it looks like some of the forthcoming crossover's design could trickle over to its utilitarian sibling, the X3. Captured in these spy shots, it appears that the 2015 BMW X3 is preparing for a minor facelift, and from what we can tell, the biggest change will center on the CUV's headlights.
There is plenty of camouflage on the front and rear fascias to suggest updates will occur there, too, but we can definitely tell that the X3 will be getting LED-equipped headlights - at least as an option, anyway. The halos are slightly different from the current offering and there is also an LED strip above the headlights used as turn signal indicators. Another interesting thing we notice in these pictures is the nub at the bottom of the grille (also visible in recent X4 spy shots). While this could be some sort of test sensor for this prototype, it could also be a front-mounted camera for a possible parking assist system.
We don't expect any changes to the powertrain and we're not sure what updates could be in store for the interior, but we're guessing that that the 2015 X3 will debut shortly after the X4 goes on sale next year.

Audi overtakes BMW as adulterers' favorite car brand

As Audi hopes to surpass BMW as the top-selling luxury automaker, sometimes it has to look at the small victories, too. For instance, IllicitEncounters.com - a UK dating site for married folks (also known as adultery) - is reporting that a recent poll shows that more people willing to cheat on their spouses drive an Audi. Last year, this same poll showed that BMW was the car-of-choice for adulterers.
With Audi on top (pun intended) and BMW bumped to number two, Mercedes-Benz, Volvo and Volkswagen round out the top five car brands owned by unfaithful wives and husbands. Jalopnik and Consumer Reports see who can pull off the best snow drift

The weather throughout much of the United States is pretty awful at the moment with some combination of extremely low temperatures, inches of snow and maybe some ice underneath it all. The folks at Jalopnik and Consumer Reports are making the absolute best out of a difficult situation by heading to CR's snow-covered test track and attempting to make the longest drift in a quartet of very different performance vehicles. Jalopnik brought along a Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG S Wagon, a Subaru WRX STI, a BMW 228i and a 1973 Volkswagen Baja Bug (heck yeah!) for the challenge. Also, the track was perfect for this group, with a mix of packed snow in places and still a few inches of unsullied powder in spots too. Ostensibly the goal was to get the tail to step out through a particular corner, but in reality this was more about having hilarious fun in the snow with fast cars. The result just looks like the best time humanly possible in this weather.
