I bought a brand new 1974 and this car drives better. In trunk, brake light covers are missing. Original jack in place, lug wrench is a replacement. One small chip in windshield."

Very reliable, original condition bmw.   I have owned eight of these (including two Tii's) and by far this is the best driving of all.  No rattles, shakes, vibrations.  This
car is a joy to drive.  As a 1975, this car was originally laden with excessive smog equipment.  Thankfully, because it does not have to be smogged, ALL
smog equipment has been professionally removed.  Everything.  With the new Tii engine, this car is actually a 1973.  No smog stuff at all.  None.
Engine:           original engine was replaced in late 80's with a factory Tii long block with E12 heads.  Compression is between 149-151 cold.
runs/idles great.  Weber 32/36 has been rebuilt and set up like a factory carb.  Very good gas mileage.  Over 30 mpg on highway.
New Tii distributor (ignitor type) with blue bosch coil.  New motor mounts.  New muffler.  New exhaust header (Ireland)
Transmission:  All syncros are in good shape.  No jumping out of gear.  No whining.  all gears down shift very smoothly.
Brakes:             new front rotors.  new ceramic pads, new stainless brakes lines, new wheel cylinder kits,  new wheel bearings,  new rear pads.
Steering:           New steering linkage (all).  Rebuilt steering box.  New urethane bushings on front.
Radiator:          Original radiator rebuilt.  New thermostat controlled electric fan.  New silicone hoses.
Rear Axle:        New CV boots.  Rebuilt CV joints.  New wheel bearings.
Body:               Very straight.  If you look down the side of this car in photos, you will see how straight it is.  No evidence of any body work.
Clutch:             New slave and master cylinder
Wheels:            Factory BBS rims (14") with new tires.
Misc:                new door brakes on both sides.  New legal window tinting.  Original factory manual. Inside of fuel tank cleaned.  New door gaskets.
I took rear seat out looking for potential rust.  There is no structural rust on this car.  I have been under complete car up on a lift and
no rust.  This car looks like it was stored for 25 years in the desert.  Very very clean.

The car is listed locally.  I reserve the right to remove from ebay listing at any time.  1,000 deposit due within three days of accepted bid.

BMW brings burlesque, Warhol, M1 and 6 Series Grand Coupe to Paris Photo LA

Mon, 22 Apr 2013

BMW has worked with Paris Photo for ten years. This year, the photography exposition lands in Paramount Studios in Los Angeles for the first time, and BMW is not only coming with it, the Bavarians are bringing the Art Car that started it all: the 1979 M1 painted by Andy Warhol. For those attending the show, there will also be making-of video of Warhol working on the car - but if you remember the mini lecture that EVO magazine's Henry Catchpole gave on the Art Cars, you'll remember that Warhol finished the car so quickly that the cameraman barely had time to get the film rolling.
With that will also be a series of photos of the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe dropped into noir scenes accompanied by burlesque models, all taken by photographer Uwe Düttmann. It's the first time they'll be exhibited at Paris Photo. You can check out a few of them in the high-res gallery above, and there's a press release below with more info.

BMW M4 Concept beckons the new golden child of M cars

Fri, 16 Aug 2013

Ushering in the next-generation of two-door M performance cars for BMW, the new M4 Concept was officially unveiled at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance last night after an unceremonious embargo leak yesterday afternoon. The reality of the fact that we will never again have a new M3 Coupe is a little easier to deal with after browsing the M4 Concept's sleek and sporty lines.
As was the case with the Concept 4 Series Coupe, we expect the this M4 to transition from concept car to production coupe with very few changes. Among the features we's bet against making it into production include the front splitter and the exhaust tips - both made from carbon fiber. Other notable details are the aero-shaped mirrors, the subtle M stripes on the carbon fiber roof and the 20-inch wheels exposing big six-piston from brakes. If it were up to us, we'd say bring this car to production as is - except for the paint color.
There is still no word on the M4's powertrain or if it will even offer a manual geabox, but we would imagine that we'll be seeing this car in production form, complete with all of those details at the LA Auto Show.

The best cars we drove this year

Tue, Dec 30 2014

Six hundred and fifty. That's roughly how many cars pass through the hands of Autoblog editors every year, from the vehicles we test here at home, to the cars we drive on new product launches, testing roundups, long-term cars, and so on. Of course, our individual numbers vary due to several reasons, but at the end of the day, our team's repertoire of automotive experience is indeed vast. But let's be honest, some cars certainly stand out more than others. So as the year's about to turn, and as we're readying brand-new daily cat calendars for our cubicles, our editors are all taking time to reflect on the machinery that made this year so special, with one simple, open-ended question as the guide – a question that we're asked quite frequently, from friends, family, colleagues, and more. "What's the best car you drove this year?" Lamborghini Huracan When I review the list of everything I drove in 2014, picking an absolute favorite becomes almost impossible. I mean, how does one delineate between the joy offered by cars as different as the Alfa Romeo 4C, Volkswagen Golf R, Mercedes-AMG GT S and even the humble-yet-wonderful Chevy Colorado? Okay fine, I'll just pick the Lamborghini. I drove the Lamborghini Huracan LP 610-4 on a racetrack, in the mountains, and along southern coast of Spain. It felt like the king of the car jungle in all of those places, sucking the eyeballs of observers nearly out of their heads as it drove by, and almost melting my brain with its cocktail of speed and grip and intense communication. It feels a little easy to say that the one new supercar I drove this year was also my favorite, but the fact is that the Huracan is one of the finest cars I've driven during my career, let alone 2014. Judge me if you must. – Seyth Miersma Senior Editor Rolls-Royce Wraith There are a couple of ways to look at the question, "What's the best car you drove this year?" In terms of what was so good I'd go out and buy one tomorrow, that'd be my all-time sweetheart, the Volkswagen GTI. Or if I'm just talking about sheer cool-factor, maybe something like the Galpin GTR1, BMW i8, or Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG. But instead, I'm going to write about the sheer opulence of being the best of the best. The hand-crafted, holier-than-thou, shut-your-mouth-when-I'm-talking-to-you supremacy. I'm picking the Rolls-Royce Wraith. I drove the Wraith for a week in April, and was really, really impressed. This car does everything, perfectly.
