For auction is a 1974 BMW 2002Tii equipped with European Upgrades and Rare OEM Factory options. This car is a very quality driver, runs exceptionally strong, and handles very well. If you are looking for a $45K+ Garage Queen, this car is not for you. But if you're looking for a quality, well maintained and well sorted out car, then you've got the right one! The Previous Owner repainted back in 2001, the car's paint still presents well, it has been garaged kept. IMO, paint is 8.5 out of 10. The Dash has cracks, and Clock does not keep accurate time. I have ordered a Coverlay Dash Cap for the Dash. There is no signs of rust on Shock Towers, Floors, or Rocker Panels. Check out photos, "the Devil is in the Details"! Here is a more detailed list of such parts: *Petri 38cm Factory Sport Steering Wheel. *Front & Rear European Chrome Bumper Conversion with OEM 73 Front Over-riders and Rear Euro Bumper Joiners. (Front Euro Bumper Conversion uses OEM Covers retrofitted to Cover Square Holes). (Rear Bumper Conversion uses a kit designed to mount into Big Bumper Shock holes, straight forward bolt-on conversion). *OEM BMW Refurbished 2002/Tii Factory Alloys with new Tires, Centercaps, and Lug Nuts. *New Front Strut Brace on Front Towers. *Suspension Technique 22/19 Front & Rear Big Sway Bars. *Bilstein HD Struts/Shocks with Eibach Lowering Springs. *Carello 900 Fog Lamps, with Rechromed Housings. *Hella Rear Fog Lamp with OEM Factory Switch installed on Console. *Reupholstered Stock Tan Front & Rear Seats. *Uber Rare BMW Factory Stainless Steel Chips Guards. * BMW 2002/Tii Factory Tool Kit, First Aid Kit, and BMW 2002/Tii Factory Blue Binder Repair Manuals (Band 1 & 2). *Stahl Header with OEM Center Resonator, and New Factory 2002tii Rear Muffler. *Stainless Steel Anco Wiper Assemblies. New H4 Headlamps with New H4 Bulbs installed. Please view pictures to see for yourself. This is just a few of the coolest and rarest of parts added to this car, I'm sure I left something off. This car does not have any mixed-matched parts, only parts of the correct production year. Take into consideration what it would cost you to build this car, IMO over $30k, that's on the low end. All the hard work has been done, now bid, win, drive, and enjoy!! I will answer all serious emails as accurately as possible. In my opinion, only thing I would do is add Euro Turn Signals, btw BMW sent two Lefts, but Right side is on back order. I will add these two with vehicle purchase, and send correct side when buyer returns the 1 left side. Also, Big Bumpers are available with purchase, if buyer chooses to retain them, or have them shipped to final destination. Please don't make unreasonable trade offers, or pfish for reserve price. Please bid what you think the car is worth. Thank you, this is a one of a kind Car!!! Additional photos available upon request. Good Luck, and Happy Bidding!

New BMW i3-like Visio.M EV concept uses lightweight resin
Tue, Oct 21 2014It's not a new version of the BMW i3, but an updated version of a lightweight concept car from SABIC, BMW, the Technical University of Munich, Daimler and others does bear a certain resemblance to the well-designed plug-in city car. From the black "glass" in the hatch to the angled line tail lights to the up-and-down window line, you can see a sort of family resemblance (see an i3 comparison photo here). And, of course, they both have an electric powertrain. But the changes made to the new lightweight urban electric concept vehicle is more of an exercise in what's possible rather than a way to evolve the i3 and i8 into a broader i family of vehicles. Even so, what we see here is interesting, since SABIC found all sorts of new ways to take weight out of the car as part of the Visio.M (Visionary Mobility) project, which was first announced in 2012. Let's start with the window material, which as you might guess from the quotation marks above, is not made of glass but is instead SABIC's Lexan polycarbonate (PC) resin plastic. The lower weight (the PC helps shed about 29 pounds) adds two miles of range while the PC resin has better thermal conductivity compared to glass and so does even more because the HVAC system can be more efficient. According to SABIC's computational fluid dynamics analysis, an extra 9-10 miles of range, in fact. Without the battery, this concept weighs just 992 pounds. Remember, BMW already made a lot of weight-reduction measures in the i3 thanks to carbon fiber reinforced plastic, so to make the "glass" lighter would only help boost efficiencies on a production vehicle that uses a resin like this. Read more below. SABIC's LEXAN™ resin delivers weight savings and thermal efficiency for new ultra-lightweight electric car concept developed by BMW-led Visio.M Consortium Munich, October 20, 2014 Today, at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), BMW, Daimler, TUM scientists and a consortium of industry participants showcased a lightweight urban electric concept vehicle with various advances, including an all-plastic design of the car's windows. The windows are made of LEXAN resin, a polycarbonate (PC) material, and coating technologies from SABIC, a leading developer of PC glazing for automotive windows and many other thermoplastic solutions for the automotive industry.
2016 X6 M brings the power at LA show
Wed, 19 Nov 2014BMW tore the cover off the second generation 2016 X6 M Wednesday at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
BMW tuned the 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 to push out 567 horsepower, up from the last model's 555 hp. Torque also leaps to 553 pound feet, compared with the previous output of 500 lb-ft. The V8 is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, which swaps in for the old six-speed. This potent powertrain allows the crossover to hit 60 miles per hour in about four seconds.
The X6, which features slightly more dramatic styling and an angled rear roofline, debuted alongside the more conventionally styled 2016 BMW X5 M at the LA show.
2015 BMW Alpina B6 xDrive Gran Coupe
Thu, 22 May 2014Alpina has been lovingly modifying BMWs for half a century, but as we learned during a tour of the company's HQ in Buchloe, Germany, Alpina has been in the wine distribution business for nearly as long. The company has an estimated million bottles on reserve in two warehouses and a beautiful wine cellar/tasting room on property in western Bavaria, just yards from where its 1,500 hand-crafted automobiles per year are produced.
What does that have to do with the new B6 Gran Coupe? Well, it may help make sense of the overall character of Alpina's automobiles, especially vis-à-vis the similarly priced, similarly powerful M Cars that BMW sells in far greater numbers. Alpinas are built by wine connoisseurs for wine connoisseurs, or wine connoisseur types; they are not rip-snortin' racecars for the road - that's M's domain. Alpinas are esoteric, rich in character and nuanced. But make no mistake: they are very, very fast.
Our brief first drive of the B6 Gran Coupe - the only 6 Series-based Alpina we'll get in the US for 2015 - took place on German autobahns and Austrian alpine roads, where the car is more at home than anywhere in the world, both literally and figuratively. With 540 horsepower and 540 pound-feet of torque on tap from its twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 and xDrive all-wheel drive, the B6 is said to be able to hit 60 miles per hour in 3.7 seconds on its way to a top speed of 198 mph, a massive 43 mph faster than the M6, which is electronically limited to 155 mph. Yet even at insane speeds - we saw an indicated 190 mph on one particularly lonely stretch of Autobahn - the B6 feels more luxurious than sporty, taking the countenance of a low-slung Bentley Continental GT or an Aston Martin Rapide S, not a knife-edged supercar. It doesn't feel scintillating like a Porsche 911 GT2; rather it feels rock steady, like the 4,780-pound luxury sedan it is.
