1974 Bmw 2002 Rivera Blue - Rare on 2040-cars
Dallas, Texas, United States
1974 BMW 2002 Rivera Blue Survivor An Arizona car fully
updated that migrated to Dallas, TX.
Comes with extensive records from way back. Just about everything is in great original
condition or have been updated. Body and Appearance Upgrades · Period BWA or similar custom 13 inch wheels with
fairly new tires ·
All
trim, tail lights, etc. in excellent or like new condition. ·
Belt trim appears
to have been updated and in excellent condition. A few dents that could likely be removed but
shiny new stainless trim ·
Rubber in doors, windows, quarter windows, trunk seal, door
handles all look to be in excellent condition.
Appears to have been replaced with car was redone.
Engine and mechanical upgrades · Engine runs excellent and it appears all
peripherals were replaced when car was updated (alternator, voltage regulator,
water pump, ignition, plug wires, 32/36 Weber carburetor etc. All seems to function nicely
Interior upgrades · Wood and stainless steering wheel new. Horn button does not appear to work but we
can probably get working for small labor charge for new buyer · Interior all in place no obvious rips or tears · New 13 piece black carpet set · Custom cup holder to be included with car…
installed in preference of new owner · Dash in excellent nice shape has been
reconditioned and textured with epoxy or similar… just a good look but not perfect
· Previous owner has installed new white headliner. Done nicely but not exactly stock as has an
interior light installed in middle of headliner. Other Mechanical and Special Features ·
AC all complete and works
but likely could use additional Freon.
We will add freon for new owner ·
Clutch
and transmission seems to work excellent.
·
Car
accelerates and runs with more power then we think a stock 2002 performs but do
not have any details of actual engine build Issues with car We
really see no issues with car except for new paint. Appears previous owner who updated car
took extreme car to get rare Riviera Blue color correct and use a nice base
coat / clear coat paint. However, tops
of both doors, roof and a few spots on hood are not perfectly straight. Good news is any paint shop (or our paint
shop) could sand prep and blend in and make car very close to perfect. Costs to do this could range from a few
hundred dollars to 2 or 3K depending on who does work and how. All said though just a wonderful car with
this one limitation. Unfortunately,
the paint weakness does not really show well in pics . A new owner could enjoy car without doing
anything to paint as unless car is being studied or is completely clean these
deviations are not highly noticeable.

BMW, Mini to offer Amazon Alexa in all models beginning next year
Fri, Sep 29 2017Voice recognition has been available in cars for years now, but the technology has improved, and found its way into our pockets and our homes. With applications like Siri and gadgets like the Amazon Echo essentially acting as digital personal assistants, the ways we interact with technology through our voice have advanced significantly in recent years. BMW plans to take advantage of the evolved voice technology, and will offer Amazon Alexa in every BMW and Mini model beginning in the middle of 2018. Drivers will be able to use the usual Alexa features (or "skills" in Amazon speak) to get the latest news and weather, provide entertainment, or remotely control their smart home gadgets. Alexa will also perform car-specific duties, such as navigation or locating nearby businesses. Users can also check on movie times, request specific playlists or even order products from Amazon through Alexa. View 5 Photos It's the logical next step for BMW, which has allowed owners to check the status or control features of their car through Alexa's BMW Connected skill since last year. Users won't need to bring their smartphone along for the Alexa to work, as BMW and Mini models will be equipped with their own SIM cards. Alexa will be available in cars in the United States, United Kingdom and Germany. As our friends at Engadget point out, the timing is important, as Amazon risked being left behind by the likes of Apple and Google, which offer their technology in vehicles via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Amazon would do well to expand access beyond the three markets in-car Alexa will launch in, for exactly the same reason. Check out the video above for how BMW envisions users interacting with Alexa. We really hope some lucky M4 owner does, in fact, actually order a pizza while drifting on the deck of an aircraft carrier. That's a future we want to live in. Why won't automakers slap on a turbo badge anymore?
Thu, Sep 10 2015Where have all the turbos gone? Not the actual pieces that go in the engine, mind you, those are everywhere these days as automakers downsize cylinder counts and boost efficiency and CO2 claims. But the turbo badges and fanfare are missing. Back when turbos were something to get excited about there was "turbo-driven," "turbonium," and "The Turbo Zone," among other silly lines. But now that basically every car is getting some sort of boost even on the lowliest trims, automakers are almost sliding in the turbos under the radar. Or if you look at some of the nomenclature, pretending they don't exist at all. The 911 Turbo badge shows where the car goes from being sane to lunatic. It's an important border. The latest automaker to hide that it has boosted the turbo presence is Porsche with the 2017 911 lineup. Even the standard Carrera models now get turbocharged flat-six engines, meaning the 911 Turbo models aren't quite as special as they once were. Porsche is in a sticky situation with this. The 911 Turbo, after all, signifies where the 911 family takes off from being a sports car and becomes the Ferrari fighter. The 911 Turbo badge shows where the car goes from being sane to lunatic. It's an important border, but now Porsche has crossed it and is trying to downplay the fact. There are a lot of exaggerations with displacement badges today, with claims the 2.0-liter turbo four in a Mercedes C Class equates to a naturally aspirated 3.0-liter six to make a C300. Volvo is pretty far up there, too, saying an XC90 T8 means V8 power, even though it's a 2.0-liter turbocharged and supercharged four with electric assist. I don't know why BMW can't just call the car a 330i Turbo, rather than inflating the numbers up to 340i. Saab tried all of this back in the '90s when it decided to turbocharge its entire lineup, from light pressure units all the way up to models actually called "Saab 9-3 HOT" (for high-output turbo). But then the brand deleted any external reference to the turbo under the hood and people wondered why they were buying a $42,000 four-cylinder convertible. And that didn't turn out well. Even though these turbo replacements often make more power than their naturally aspirated predecessors, they're very different engines. People knew something changed when they exchanged their leased 328i with a 3.0-liter six for a 328i with a 2.0-liter turbo four.
Translogic 182: CXC Motion Pro II Racing Simulator
Thu, Aug 13 2015Translogic gets some seat time in the CXC Motion Pro II to test if the high fidelity racing simulator can impact our host's real-life track times. Host Jonathon Buckley hits the track at Auto Club Speedway of California in a 2015 BMW M4 to put down a baseline lap time before his virtual training session in the Motion Pro II. After learning the lines of the track in a simulated setting, Jonathon returns to the track to put his skills to the test. "We designed it, originally, as a professional training tool for race car drivers," says CXC Simulation's founder and president Chris Considine. "Make it authentic. Make it real." The Motion Pro II boasts "thousands of cars and track models," ranging from street cars, to rally and off-road vehicles. Will this hyper realistic racing simulator help Jonathon improve his lap time?
