NO RESERVE!!!!! My 1974 BMW 2002 is Polaris Silver over Chamonix, the paint is new but needs wet sanding and buffing to be finished. New seals installed during painting of the vehicle. The driver’s door is difficult to close, which I know is common with new seals. Euro turn signals installed, while euro bumpers have been shaved. The driving lights are installed, but need final connections to be operational. Locks all work, and there is a small area of paint peeling around the edge of the fuel door, from fuel spillage during refueling. New gas cap seal also installed, and lock is functional. The interior has been upgraded to black leather, not pleather, with a new white headliner. The engine was recently rebuilt, (documentation included), with approx. 200 miles since rebuild. Mileage on the odometer is probably NOT accurate! Also included in the engine rebuild was a refurbished radiator. Recently added a new carburetor, battery and MSD box (Engine does need tuning). Car has been garaged, with few driving miles since restoration. The dashboard is in good shape, but needs a center console. Most gauges work, but the odometer is frozen, and the temperature gauge recently stopped working. Suspension was reportedly reconditioned before I purchased the vehicle, approximately 4 years ago, and rides like it’s new. Has updated 14" BBS wheels, that are in excellent condition, with brand new tires. The transmission in an AUTO transmission, but has a leak from sitting. I believe it’s from the pan, but haven’t had the time or energy to investigate. Brakes need to be rebuilt, as there is a leak in the system. It is NOT safe to drive!!! I have new drums and wheel cylinders, included with the sale. This car is a pleasure to drive, but must sell as I have too many vehicles and not enough time or energy to finish her up. The car is not perfect, but with a little TLC is a great one to own. The reserve is more than appropriate for what you are getting. Well over $20,000.00 spent on restoration. Additional photos available, and the car is available for viewing. I have tried to list all the positives and negatives of the vehicle, but I recommend viewing the vehicle...prior to purchasing. $500.00 due upon auction close, and full payment is due within 7 days. Vehicle will be released after clearing of payment. Title is clear, and in hand! FYI, THE VEHICLE IS LISTED LOCALLY, AND THE AUCTION MAY END EARLY DUE TO SALE OF VEHICLE. Thanks for looking. |

2015 BMW Alpina B6 xDrive Gran Coupe priced from $118,225* [w/poll]
Wed, 05 Mar 2014If you're in the market for a high-performance BMW and you live in Europe, you've typically had two range of options at your disposal: you could go for one of BMW's own M models, or turn to Alpina. Though technically independent of BMW, Alpina is about as close to the manufacturer as a tuner can get, and many of its models are offered through BMW's own dealer network.
That's overseas, but in the North American market, BMW has typically taken a different approach, offering just one Alpina model - the B7 - to fill in for a lack of M7 performance sedan. That all changes, however, with the debut of the BMW Alpina B6 xDrive Gran Coupe.
Slotting in alongside the M6 Gran Coupe, the Alpina B6 xDrive Gran Coupe is marginally more expensive and slightly less powerful, but makes up for those relative (and negligible) shortcomings in spades. Both are based on the 6 Series Gran Coupe and both pack a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8, but with key differences. Where the M6 produces 560 horsepower, the Alpina offers 'only' 540. But where the M6 channels 500 pound-feet of torque to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, the Alpina drives 540 lb-ft to all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic.
2015 BMW S 1000 RR looks to retain sportbike supremacy
Tue, 30 Sep 2014The BMW S 1000 RR is already a pretty potent member of the superbike ranks, but BMW is revealing a host of upgrades for this two-wheeled lightning bolt at the Intermot 2014 motorcycle show that should make it even faster.
The biggest additions to the latest 1000 RR are its new cylinder head, lighter valves and different intake cam to tweak even more power from the bike's 1.0-liter, four-cylinder engine, and BMW now rates it at a claimed 196 horsepower (or 199 horses if you go with the European measurement, converted from 146 kilowatts), a boost over the first-gen's 193 ponies, and 83 pound-feet of torque through a six-speed gearbox. Those adjustments would probably be enough to make the cycle a tick faster alone, but the Bavarian engineers also cut 8.82 pounds (4 kg) to bring the motorcycle's weight with a full tank of fuel to a feather-light 450 pounds. Much of that diet comes from the redesigned exhaust that cuts about 6.6 pounds off the scales.
Cradling that tweaked engine is a redesigned, lighter frame with fully adjustable springs. The bike also comes standard with Race ABS, stability control, seven-step variable traction control and three riding modes. In terms of styling, all of these changes are communicated through an updated fairing with repositioned, though still asymmetric, headlights.
Will global automakers drop local JV partners if China's government says they can?
Wed, 02 Jul 2014Chinese economic policies could be in for a big change, as President Xi Jinping pushes the communist country to open its domestic markets even further. That could mean big things for the auto industry, especially when it comes to the country's far-reaching joint-venture system.
According to Chinese law, foreign automakers may only maintain a fifty-fifty partnership with their domestic counterparts. But with Jinping's push for openness leading to potential free-trade deals, that policy could be relaxed (or eradicated all together) in short order. What's an automaker to do?
Well, in BMW's case, stay the course. Automotive News Europe reports that, despite the grumblings about the JV policy changes, the German manufacturer has resigned its agreement with Brilliance through 2028. This is made doubly remarkable by the fact that BMW signed the extension over three years before it was set to expire.
