The BMW 2002tii was produced from 1968 to 1976 and was the ancestor of the mega-popular 3-series. Today, the 2002tii is one of the rarer BMWs in the classic-car market. My father owned this car for 12 years and has been sitting for some years inside the garage. This car will be a great build with minimal effort. It needs about 2 days of bodywork and it’s ready for paint. This is an amazing car! Don't pass it up! Description: Pros- The car is structurally sound. It was fully restored in 2002 and rarely driven. The restoration included New Fuel Tank, Rear Struts Towers, Struts, New Brakes, Front & rear brakes, Windshield Gasket, Cold Start System, Alternator and seat belts. Electrical system is in good condition. Shifts well, Good Pirelli tires P400s (175/75/13). Interiors are in very good condition with BMW 635i rear seats. The car has a clean title. All #s match on body interior plate and block!. Cons - Vehicle does not start under its own fuel system; it needs to be flushed. If Choke cleaner is spread in the throttle body, the vehicle starts immediately (Smoke Free). Needs body rust removal (Nothing serious) in the usual spots (Front Hood, around rear wheels wells, behind the sunroof and lower portion of passenger door) and paint. The car was fully restored in 2002 but the paint faded fast. The headliner is good except for one tear over driver’s side door. Carpets are good except for usual wear. Dash is good except for the usual two cracks. Clock & rear defroster don’t work. Key doesn’t work on passenger-side door. The brakes need to be addressed as the vehicle has been sitting for some years. No battery. NOT

Poor headlights cause 40 cars to miss IIHS Top Safety Pick rating
Mon, Aug 6 2018Over the past few months, we've noticed a number of cars and SUVs that have come incredibly close to earning one of the IIHS's highest accolades, the Top Safety Pick rating. They have great crash test scores and solid automatic emergency braking and forward collision warning systems. What trips them up is headlights. That got us wondering, how many vehicles are there that are coming up short because they don't have headlights that meet the organization's criteria for an "Acceptable" or "Good" rating. This is a revision made after 2017, a year in which headlights weren't factored in for this specific award. This is also why why some vehicles, such as the Ford F-150, might have had the award last year, but have lost it for this year. We reached out to someone at IIHS to find out. He responded with the following car models. Depending on how you count, a whopping 40 models crash well enough to receive the rating, but don't get it because their headlights are either "Poor" or "Marginal." We say depending on how you count because the IIHS actual counts truck body styles differently, and the Infiniti Q70 is a special case. Apparently the version of the Q70 that has good headlights doesn't have adequate forward collision prevention technology. And the one that has good forward collision tech doesn't have good enough headlights. We've provided the entire list of vehicles below in alphabetical order. Interestingly, it seems the Volkswagen Group is having the most difficulty providing good headlights with its otherwise safe cars. It had the most models on the list at 9 split between Audi and Volkswagen. GM is next in line with 7 models. It is worth noting again that though these vehicles have subpar headlights and don't quite earn Top Safety Pick awards, that doesn't mean they're unsafe. They all score well enough in crash testing and forward collision prevention that they would get the coveted award if the lights were better.
BWM 135i with M3 V8 engine swap combines two things we miss the most
Thu, Apr 16 2015If you've ever listened to the Autoblog Podcast, you've doubtlessly heard my views on the BMW 1 Series M Coupe. I don't much care for it. That's not to say it's bad, so much as it just isn't what an M car should be. Steven Ewing, Seyth Miersma and a number of other Autoblog staffers think I'm crazy (It's true, he is crazy –Ed.), but whatever. My position on the 1M would be dramatically different, however, had it been fitted from the factory with the truly fantastic 4.0-liter V8 from the E92 M3 (the last great M car, in this writer's humble opinion). Matt Farah of Drive took to the wheel of a 135i that's been completely reworked by Performance Technic and is owned by Marco Svizzero. The car required a salvageable E92 and what we imagine is an incalculable amount of wrench time, with the result being, as Farah says, "possibly the best BMW you could build at any price." Oh, and it sounds absolutely delicious. Check out the car in action.
BMW M3, M4 let loose on the 'Ring
Wed, 24 Jul 2013We just posted our first drive of the 2014 BMW 435i yesterday, but for those wanting even more power from this stylish coupe, help is on the way. From the sounds of it, BMW will be showing off a production-ready concept previewing the M4 next month at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, but until then, we have some new spy shots of the performance coupe being tested at the Nürburgring, along with its four-door counterpart, the M3.
Despite all the camouflage, it doesn't take much imagination to picture what both cars will look like, since we can clearly see the more aggressive front fascia and beefier brake setup. One interesting element we see on both cars is a double bubble roof that is almost certainly made from carbon fiber. Based on our report earlier, both the M4 Coupe and M3 Sedan are expected to debut at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show.
