1972 Bw 2002tii Project Car on 2040-cars
Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
Here we have an early 1972 BMW 2002 Tii. Original factory color of Silver with dark blue and black interior. She starts and runs but unfortunately there is rust at the rear subframe mount causing the subframe to hang down. There is no doubt that this is a project car and will need much work to restore to her former glory. Make no mistake, you will need to address rust at the rear subframe mounts, the floor pan and a few areas on the body. Many other items will need to be addressed as would be typical of any restoration. Of course another option would be to remove the power plant and running gear and drop it in to a rust free chassis but it would be a shame to do that to such a rare car with such a fantastic original color combination. All the parts pictured in the trunk come with the car including a spare rear subframe. The pictures do not adequately convey the scope of work required on this car. The car would be best described as 'rough'. I STRONGLY suggest you inspect the car personally to ensure it's exactly what you want. In fact, if you want to personally discuss the car with me I welcome your call between the hours of 10 am and 10 pm PACIFIC time at (360) 474-4911. This car can be driven on to a trailer but there is no way it should be driven on a public road. I am happy to help load the car on to a trailer or car transporter of your choice and ship anywhere in Canada or the US at your expense.

Auto execs surveyed say VW, BMW most likely to grow
Thu, 17 Jan 2013A new survey of top global automotive executives indicates both Volkswagen and BMW are the most likely to grow their market share over the next five years.
Tax advisory firm KPMG LLP has released its 14th annual Global Automotive Executive Survey, which includes responses from over 200 executives. A total of 81 percent of respondents said they expect to see Volkswagen make gains, compared to 70 percent last year. BMW, meanwhile, saw 70 percent of those surveyed say they believe the company will increase its market share. That's a jump of 7 percentage points over last year. This is the first time in the history of the survey that BMW has claimed the second-place spot.
Meanwhile, Hyundai has seen its perceived market share potential slacken for the third year in a row. Around 61 percent of those surveyed predicted gains for Hyundai, down from 63 in 2012. Toyota also has a surprising year, but for just the opposite reason. While the manufacturer had slipped in ranking since 2011, it enjoyed the largest increase of any company in the 2013 survey, jumping to 68 percent from 44 percent last year.
BMW-Toyota sports car heading towards Tokyo debut
Mon, 20 May 2013Earlier this year, BMW and Toyota confirmed a four-part joint venture mostly focusing on increasing improving vehicle efficiency using fuel cells, lightweight materials and better battery technology. Also tucked into the announcement was a "feasibility study" for a shared platform to underpin a future midsize "sports vehicle."
In terms of the latter, it seems that things have stepped up from the feasibility stage to the conceptual stage, as Motor Trend reports we could see a pair of new sports car concepts debut later this year in at the Tokyo Motor Show. There isn't much information about the new program, but the article suggests the sports cars could be all-wheel drive hybrids, with electric motors powering the front wheels and a gas engine powering the rear wheels. While a partnership between Toyota and BMW might not lend itself to a catchy portmanteau like "Toyobaru," here's hoping it will bear fruit that is as exciting as the ones produced by the Toyota/Subaru tie up.
DC fast charging standard on 2015 BMW i3 EV
Mon, Dec 1 2014The BMW i3 is about to get a lot cooler. No, wait, a lot warmer. That's because there will a few new standard features in the i3 plug-in vehicles sold in the US, including seat heaters and satellite radio. Oh, and DC fast charging. The department head of BMW i USA, Jacob Harb, told BMW Blog that the company is, "now confident enough that in 2015 we will have the right infrastructure for DC fast charging, so it makes to include it standard in the MY2015." We can expect more details at the Detroit Auto Show in January and Harb told BMW Blog that, "you will be pleasantly surprised" by the announcement. There are a few other potential changes in store for the i3, including a configurable keyfob (like European i3 drivers get) and a heated steering wheel. It's unlikely that a sunroof or Lane Departure Warning will be offered, but Harb said BMW is always open to suggestions.
