Up for sale are TWO rare California 1972 BMW 2002tii's roundies.  This auction includes BOTH cars together with NO RESERVE.  Please read carefully, as I tried to describe them as accurate as possible.  They both have been in storage since 2006/2007, therefore, the interior pictures look a little dusty.

The Blue one is 90% +/- restored.  This car has NO TITLE and will be sold with a BILL OF SALE only.  When I purchased the vehicle in 2006, it had already fallen off the California DMV records.  It is a 1972 Tii VIN; however, the ENGINE IS NOT a tii; it is from a 1971, 2002.  It was professionally rebuilt by Top End Preformance in North Hollywood, California in 2005.  They did a performance short block rebuild with 9.6:1 compression, rebuilt head with new guides, upgraded springs, seals ect. and oil pan baffle modification.  It has less than 20 miles on the rebuild.  It's installed with a 1.5" header and stainless steel exhaust piping ending with a magnaflow muffler and chrome tip.  For a 4 cylinder it sounds real tough and runs strong.  Practically everything under the hood was replaced, new carter electric fuel pump, 38 dges weber carburator, 65 amp alternator; all hoses, radiator, thermostat and belt; new sport clutch kit with short shift conversion kit; new motor/transmission mounts; converted ignition to an XDI computer package with coil packs; spark plugs and wires; suspension all new with struts, shocks and sport spring package; upgraded front and rear sway bars with polyurethane bushings; and links, ball joints, tie rod ends, brakes, rotors, bearings, seals and steel braided brake lines; battery relocated to trunk with strut brace package; new battery.  The interior is all new with carpet and reupholstered leather seats and door panels; front seats are porsche recaro black leather.  Roof lining also replaced.  Front dash in excellent condition with only one small crack on left side of clock.  Only need to complete center console; have new and old panels to complete.  The vehicle does have a sunroof; however, it is white and would need to be painted to match the blue color.  The body was completely stripped and professionally restored and painted inside and out; all rubbers and trim replaced; still needs mid rail trim to complete.  There are minor paint chips  where the new trim was slid on.  rear trunk panels also restored and gas tank was reconditioned.  Underneath completely undercoated.  Chrome bumpers are in great shape for being 40+ years old with only minor pitting; however, they clean up nice with polish.  No expense has been spared on this vehicle.

The Malaga is also a 1972tii unmolested original California car.  This vehicle DOES HAVE TITLE, but is currently registered California NON-OP with DMW.  It is a perfect candidate for restoration.  It has minor rust at the front portion of rear fender well,(pictured) no rust on strut towers or other usual places.  The paint looks original and not in the best shape.  It runs but I believe one of the original plastic tii intake runners is cracked causing it to pull too much air and run rough; however, it starts and idles fine.  Have replaced lots of parts new brakes;calipers;brake lines and rotors; recently fuel pump and fuel filter; new battery, can't remember everything replaced on this one.  Do have many new parts not installed yet, new bilstein struts/shocks and performance springs; upgraded front and rear sway bars with polyurethane bushings/links; front camber plates and rear camber kit and differential bushing all included with sale.

Included with the sale are a lot of spare parts, seats, trim, interiors, behr a/c system, rims, suspension, differential, 4 speed transmission ect., that i've accumulated over the years, plus many new parts that were purchased for the Malaga but never installed.  Also included are two sets of performance rims that will need to be reconditioned and are pictured.  Additionally, I have a stripped 1971 2002 on a custom built rolling cart that is FREE to the highest bidder if they want it.  This vehicle will also be sold with a bill of sale and all parts to it.  Buyer is responsible for picking up or shipping.  Both cars need to be picked up since they are not registered and the tires should be replaced.  If you have any further questions or would like to see them prior to auction end please call me at (909) 225-3098.  If you know about these cars you can probably tell I have invested alot more than the minimum bid into the Blue car alone..  Both cars together will be a great deal for the winning bidder. The cost of shipping is the responsibility of the buyer and a $1,000.00 deposit is required within 48 hours of the winning bid.  All vehicles are being sold as-is with no warranty of any kind.  Thank you for looking at these two of a kind collectable 1972 BMW's, I know you will enjoy them.

Two new RWD Toyota sports cars to join FR-S?

Fri, 09 Aug 2013

Toyota as we know it could become a thing of the past. According to Australian site Car Advice, the Japanese brand known for bland cruisers like the Camry and Corolla is preparing to bring two new rear-drive cars to market that would slot above and below the Scion-badged FR-S. This is very, very good news.
Car Advice spoke to the GT86/FR-S' chief engineer, Tatsuya Tada, who claimed, "Akio Toyoda always says to me, Toyota sports car [family] should be three sports car brothers. 86 is in the middle." The oldest "brother" would be the spiritual successor to the Supra, even if it doesn't wear that name. Tada is in charge of that project, while a sub-GT86 project is being headed-up elsewhere.
Tada refused to comment on names (CA specifically mentions MR2 and Celica) for the new small car, but did say that, "Yes it is rear-wheel drive and that's Toyota's strong position - Toyota sports car must be rear-wheel drive." Perhaps the juiciest bit of information obtained from Tada's interview with Car Advice was his hinting that both new sports cars would be joint ventures, like the GT86/FR-S/Subaru BRZ triplets. Tada wouldn't say who Toyota was in bed with on the smaller model, but did mention that the Supra would be a product of the world's largest automaker's partnership with BMW.

2015 BMW Alpina B6 xDrive Gran Coupe priced from $118,225* [w/poll]

Wed, 05 Mar 2014

If you're in the market for a high-performance BMW and you live in Europe, you've typically had two range of options at your disposal: you could go for one of BMW's own M models, or turn to Alpina. Though technically independent of BMW, Alpina is about as close to the manufacturer as a tuner can get, and many of its models are offered through BMW's own dealer network.
That's overseas, but in the North American market, BMW has typically taken a different approach, offering just one Alpina model - the B7 - to fill in for a lack of M7 performance sedan. That all changes, however, with the debut of the BMW Alpina B6 xDrive Gran Coupe.
Slotting in alongside the M6 Gran Coupe, the Alpina B6 xDrive Gran Coupe is marginally more expensive and slightly less powerful, but makes up for those relative (and negligible) shortcomings in spades. Both are based on the 6 Series Gran Coupe and both pack a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8, but with key differences. Where the M6 produces 560 horsepower, the Alpina offers 'only' 540. But where the M6 channels 500 pound-feet of torque to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, the Alpina drives 540 lb-ft to all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic.

BMW M2, we're happy to see you

Wed, 03 Sep 2014

I recently spent some time behind the wheel of the BMW M235i and, well, I didn't love it. Sure, it's a great car, but I just didn't truly bond with it the way I have with previous M cars. What I had hoped for was a proper successor to the 1 Series M Coupe I fell in love with in 2011, but what I got instead was just a sporty 2 Series that didn't exactly stir my emotions in the same way.
But now there's this: the honest-to-goodness BMW M2. Previously, spy photographers captured a development-mule M2, but this is the real thing, in its full prototype body. Notice the aggressive front fascia that mimics the M3/M4, the more more robust wheel/tire package, and the M-standard quad exhaust outlets around back. This thing sure does look the business.
Details are slim as of this writing, but rumors suggest power will come from BMW's now-ubiquitous N55 turbocharged 3.0-liter six, with output somewhere in the 360- to 380-horspower range. The seven-speed M dual-clutch transmission seems like a good fit here, too. As does a six-speed manual transmission (here's hoping).
