1972 Bmw 2002 Base 2.0l One Owner New Paint/interior!! on 2040-cars
Bethesda, Maryland, United States
This listing is for my first born.
This car was purchased new on 7/25/1972. I was 17. I am the absolute only owner and can tell you anything you could possibly ask me about it. The auction is for a 1972.5 Atlantic Blue 2002. The 1972.5 Model included a 2 barrel carb (not available on the 1972 model) and the signature round tail lights (1972 was the last year these were used). The car went through a MAJOR refresh in 2003, with a new coat of paint, front 'bumper' paint, new interior upholstery, and a new CD player. In 2006, new brakes, clutch, and flywheel were put in. The odometer broke after a service in 2011, but I can personally tell you it was around 141,000 miles when it broke and has been driven sparingly since (under 1,000 miles). The car starts up every year, and is currently running with no problems. Once the engine warms up a little, its all systems go! If the car sits idle for too long, it may need a battery charge (as is common in any older car). A BMW gear shift was put in as well (see pictures). Historic plates have been on the car for the last decade plus. Unfortunately, the VIN is only 7 digits and ebay doesn't seem to recognize or have access to any data about cars from the 70s. Title is clear. It's time to move on for me. The car has been stored under an all weather cover, but the amount it is driven can no longer justify the driveway space. Ask me any questions you can think of. My baby needs a loving home. Buyer is responsible for shipping. Need a cashier or personal check, after a $500 deposit (per ebay motors standard protocol). Will ship the title after the funds clear. Ask me any questions you can possibly think of and I will post them here. |

Lexus back in luxury sales race after three-year absence
Sun, 08 Jun 2014Think the only challengers for the title of best-selling luxury brand hail from der Vaterland? Wrong. Lexus outsold the likes of Mercedes-Benz for the second time in 2014 last month. In fact, the Japanese luxury marque's total sales this year are a mere 12,000 units behind BMW.
Lexus was able to move 26,921 vehicles last month, a year-over-year increase of 21.1 percent, respectively. Mercedes, meanwhile, was just barely beaten, moving 26,617 units in April. The difference, though, is that Lexus has made far bigger year-over-year gains than Mercedes, which recorded a YOY increase of just 4.13 percent.
This is particularly troubling for the Germans, as it marks a return to form for Lexus that we haven't seen since before the March 2011 earthquake and tsunami that decimated Japan. Prior to that natural disaster, Lexus enjoyed nearly a dozen years at the top of the luxury heap.
BMW profit of $2.7B is down as automaker invests to keep luxury lead
Fri, 02 Aug 2013
Despite selling 6.6-percent more vehicles - a record by volume - and posting higher revenues in the second quarter of 2013, BMW Group's profit of 2.07 million euros ($2.75 billion) is down 8.8 percent from last year. Investments in new technology (e.g. the new i3) and personnel, in addition to a competitive market, are to blame, BMW states. But the automaker remains committed to its fiscal targets for 2013, which, Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG, Norbert Reithofer, says will be "on a similar scale to 2012."
The BMW brand's sales performance in the first half of the year, which increased by 7.7 percent to 804,258 vehicles delivered, was good enough for it to maintain its lead in the luxury market, narrowly beating Audi, which delivered 780,510 vehicles, Automotive News reports. Mercedes-Benz delivered 694,433 vehicles to cement third place.
The Homer to contest 24 Hours of LeMons
Thu, 27 Jun 2013It's finally happened. A 24 Hours of LeMons team has built the definitive interpretation of The Homer from The Simpsons for competition in an upcoming race. As you may recollect, The Homer is the fictional car designed by Homer Simpson for his brother's car company. Designed with a separate compartment for screaming children and other Homer-centric goodies, the animated machine bankrupted its parent company and put Homer's brother out of a job. Now we get to watch it race other crap cans as it tackles Southern California's Buttonwillow Raceway on June 29. Scott Chamberlain, Kris Linquist, Reid Conti, Ben Reilly and Mike Yepes will helm the machine, and Jeff Herman serves as the team's creative director.
The racer is the latest incarnation of a well-abused BMW 3 Series. The team campaigned the same E30 under the "Prickstine" banner as a Chrysler Imperial tribute and "Porcubimmer," the latter being a riff on the ever-popular joke about the difference between porcupines and BMW models. Never gets old. You can check out a video of the finished Homer below, and be sure to like the team on Facebook to see updates from the race. Now, about that Canyonero...
