I've always wanted to build one of these cars since I was a kid. I finally found this project in Culver City, CA. I was driving when I saw an older man that had his garage opened. I was compelled to ask if it was for sale or if he'd consider selling it. After discovering he was willing, after getting the car fully inspected by a specialty BMW mechanic and body shop, I made my move on her.
The car has had a unbelievable amount of attention over 4 months. I travel quite a bit and I've left for as long as 10 days to come back to a 1970 BMW that starts right up and runs well! The amount of hours and passion that went into this car definitely shows in the end result! Put simply, the car was done the right way as the body shop was next door the Specialty BMW mechanic shop. The car was simply stripped and restored minus the suspension which is in great condition. It's been very exciting to see it come together the way it has, I've been driving it everyday since its completion 5 weeks ago and I've gone as fast as 75mph on the freeway! You'll never get more attention from fellow BMW drivers than you will while behind the wheel of this beautiful Southern California 2002.
What she needs: Rear view mirrors, carpeting and trunk lining.
The motor is original, here's a list of whats been done under the hood:

The Exterior & Interior:
One crack in dash
Brand new headliner
Original front and rear seats in good condition
The dash in excellent condition (two crack total)
Front and rear bumpers look great
Wheel wells were painted black at the body shop to match under the trunk/hood
The paint used was quality, then got color sanded and buff out to an glass-like finish
Brand new moldings around the front/rear windshields
Brand new moldings around the door jams and rear windows (all moldings replaced)
Brand New Matching Tires
Brand new wiper blades
13” BMW Alpina Wheels in excellent shape
... There's really too much to list, a phone conversation is preferred.
I've polished every last inch of this car, many parts have been sand-blasted and repainted as well (including the front grills). This 2002 has already been a big hit here in Santa Monica. I've absolutely adored this car and anyone would be lucky to own her. I'm only selling because I'm moving onto a 1967 Mercedes SL280! This 2002 is amazingly fun to drive and just screams with character, I've never gotten so many thumbs up! I have the clean title in hand and the car is ready to for a new home sadly. Bid with confidence and feel free to contact me directly with any questions or concerns, I'll get right back to you. I can send any additional pictures by request, I've taken plenty of video and pictures before/after.
Happy Bidding!

BMW X4 tunes up its crossover game in Germany
Fri, 23 Aug 2013Except for the fancy wheels and the overly expressive fascias, the production version of the BMW X4 looks like it will carry over practically untouched from what we saw in the X4 Concept several months back. With the same fastback roofline as the concept, these spy shots show that the X4 is taking shape to be a baby version of the BMW X6.
Sharing the same platform as the X3, the lower and wider X4 will be positioned slightly more upmarket - as is the case with the X5 and X6. We hear that this could mean that the X4 will ditch the X3's base engine to give an even sportier feel right out of the gate, but word has it that an M version will being showing up down the road as well.
BMW has already revealed what it plans to show off at the Frankfurt Motor Show (i3, 4 Series Coupe, next-gen X5, refreshed 5 Series, X5 Concept eDrive plug-in hybrid and Concept Active Tourer Outdoor), so barring any surprised we definitely won't be seeing the X4 there. At this point, with as close to production as these images would have us believe, our best guess would be that we'll see the X4's official unveiling happen either at LA or Detroit.
Xcar rates AWD vs. FWD vs. RWD
Tue, Feb 24 2015With snow and ice blanketing large swathes of the United States over the past few weeks, commuting hasn't been easy. Among some drivers, there's an ongoing debate about how much all-wheel drive really helps when it gets slippery and whether rear-drive is as bad in slick conditions as many people think. Xcar Films puts some of those beliefs to the test in its latest video by showing off three very different cars taking on a trio of low-grip challenges. Xcar's picks for the test include the fairly plebeian, all-wheel drive Subaru Impreza, the somewhat plush, rear-drive BMW 120d and the sporty, front-drive Renault Megane RS 275 Trophy. Things start out easy with a hydraulic plate forcing the back end out on a wet skid pad. From there, the tests get really interesting with a slalom on simulated ice, and the cars finish with a high-speed cornering challenge through a soaked turn. While an obvious winner emerges in the end, keep in mind this is hardly a scientific test of grip. For better accuracy, all three vehicles should be wearing identical tires, and the same driver should be behind the wheel of each one. Still, Xcar's examination is a fun chance to see how vehicles react when things get slick. Weekly Recap: Toyota wants cars to be your 'close friends' around 2020
Sat, Oct 10 2015Toyota confirmed plans this week to launch autonomous technology in its production cars around 2020. The automaker's version is called Highway Teammate, and it's one element of a broader mobility strategy that includes vehicles communicating with each other and the grid. "Toyota believes that interactions between drivers and cars should mirror those between close friends who share a common purpose, sometimes watching over each other and sometimes helping each other out," the company said in a statement. That sounds utopian, and perhaps a bit cheesy, but it's an acknowledgment that autonomous driving requires more than technology developed in a vacuum. Toyota is looking at its research in a broader context, and dubs its overall strategy the Mobility Teammate Concept. Highway Teammate is the first step. Its test vehicle is a modified Lexus GS, which uses road-mapping data and external sensors to merge or exit highways, change lanes, and maintain safe distances during driving. It's operated on the Shuto Expressway in Tokyo. Toyota has been working on autonomous tech since the 1990s, with the goal of providing mobility for older people and the disabled, as well as lowering the frequency of traffic accidents. Toyota's push comes as an early adopter, Nissan, is hedging on its own deadline to implement the autonomous tech by 2020 due to a lack of firm laws governing self-driving cars around the world. Conversely, Volvo took the landmark step of being the first automaker to accept liability for when its cars will operate in autonomous mode, and urged the US government to set federal guidelines to regulate the technology. OTHER NEWS & NOTES 2016 BMW M4 GTS: Your water-injected, turbo-boosted demon BMW is unleashing its most powerful M4 ever, a 493-horsepower special edition that's road legal yet bred for the track. The company is making 700 copies for sale around the world, and 300 of them will come to the United States. The twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder revs to 7,600 rpm and uses a water-injection technology to cool the intake air and lower the compression temperature. BMW says this allows it to wring more power out of the inline six. The car also uses carbon-fiber reinforced plastic for the roof, hood, engine compartment strut brace, drive shaft, and rear spoiler to reduce weight. The M4 features BMW's organic light-emitting diode taillights, which are said to be an industry first.
