1970 Bmw 2002 Base 2.0l on 2040-cars
Memphis, Tennessee, United States
Rough, but ready for the dirt track/rat rod scene! Rusty, wrecked, ugly! This fine german automobile ran great until the gas tank filled up with water in one of memphis' killer spring weather events, then something in the parking brake, broke, it rolled down the hill, hit a tree and I kicked it, and SCREAMED, "Your going on ebay!" But, it has been garaged kept since then. Clean Tennessee title, ready for you to make it a show car or just cut it up for scrap because you have no idea how fun these cars are to drive. I feel the car is still worth $500, Front bumper is fairly straight, missing some rubber, but useable. The round tail lights are intact and only aged. Glass is good. steel wheels are true, and tires have held air for two years! No radio, most knobs and switches are there, speedometer is broken, so is the odometer. It has a full set of dinged and dented belt line trim. Seat belts don't work! Manual transmission shifted fine. Doors open and shut. windows might roll up/down? Would make a great dog house for a German Sheppard. Be the trend setter in south haven Mississippi, put the neon in the body cavities to highlight the rust! Slam it and drive to Worthersee, then set it on fire in the parking lot, taking out as much Volkswagen garbage as possible! IT CAN BE YOURS! SATISFY YOUR DREAM OF OWNING A VINTAGE BMW! NO RESERVE! HIGH BID NEEDS TO GET THIS OUT OF MY GARAGE IN 20 DAYS, OR I TAKE IT TO THE FARM AND USE IT FOR TARGET PRACTICE, THEN THE CRUSHER! $19.70 OPENING BID! |

Audi S3 pitted against BMW M135i in track battle
Fri, 07 Mar 2014Audi and BMW have long been enemies on both the road and the track, with their respective M and S/RS lines duking it out to the delight of auto enthusiasts everywhere. In this video from Evo, two of the rivalry's newest combatants take to the track - the Audi S3 and the BMW M135i.
The new Audi S3, which is finally coming to America, throws down with a 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder. 290 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque are deployed to a Quattro all-wheel-drive system via a six-speed, S-Tronic dual-clutch transmission, allowing the five-door Audi to scamper to 60 in under five seconds.
The BMW, which Americans will know as a long-roof version of the new M235i Coupe, comes to the track with 320 ponies and 331 lb-ft of torque. That's a good bit more than the Audi, but the M135i has only two wheels to send its power to, an eight-speed single-clutch automatic (a six-speed manual is available) and a slightly higher curb weight.
BMW readying Spartanburg expansion for X7 production
Mon, 24 Mar 2014Prior to the debut of the original X5 in 1999, the idea of a BMW crossover might have seemed like heresy. But here we are, fifteen years removed from the Frank Stephenson-penned design, and the Bavarian automaker has expanded its crossover lineup to include the X1, X3, X4 and X6, and it's showing no sign of slowing down.
We recently reported that BMW is planning on slotting an X2 in at the bottom of the range between the X1 and X3, but now it's being widely reported that it's got an even larger one to put in at the top of its utility line. That, of course, would be the X7, a long-rumored three-row model that would give BMW a large family hauler to challenge the Mercedes-Benz GL.
According to The Wall Street Journal, BMW is expanding its assembly plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina, to accommodate production of the X7 alongside the X3, X4 and X5 that it already builds there for local consumption.
2014 BMW 4 Series drops its top, priced from $48,750*
Sat, 12 Oct 2013BMW will debut its new 2014 4 Series Convertible at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November, and after seeing plenty of spy shots and, most recently, some leaked images, we now have all the official details. To no one's surprise, the 4 Series convertible is, essentially, a topless version of BMW's new-for-2014 4 Series coupe, and will be offered in the United States in the same 428i and 435i guises.
On the base end, that means the 428i Convertible arrives with the company's 2.0-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine, good for 240 horsepower and 255 pound-feet of torque, and available with either rear- or all-wheel drive. BMW says the 428i will sprint to 60 miles per hour in a respectable 6.2 seconds. For folks in need of more thrust, BMW will happily sell you a 435i Convertible, available only with rear-wheel drive, powered by a 3.0-liter, twin-turbocharged inline-six that produces 300 hp and 300 lb-ft of twist. Hitting 60 mph in the 435i will take roughly five and a half seconds with the standard eight-speed auto. Curiously, BMW did not mention anything about a six-speed manual transmission for either model, so looks like this droptop might be an auto-only affair. We've contacted BMW for confirmation, so we'll keep you posted.
Like the 3 Series Convertible it replaces, the 4 Series uses a three-piece folding hardtop configuration, and BMW says that added sound deadening reduces audible wind noise by about two decibels. Folding the automatic roof takes just 20 seconds, and can be done at speeds up to roughly 11 mph. For chilly, top-down driving (something we're big fans of), there are now three-temperature neck warmers for the front seats - just like what Mercedes-Benz offers with its AirScarf system.
