I am selling my project because I simply don't have the space and time. I specifically purchased both of these vehicles to tailor a very cool car, one car is in mechanically good shape with thousands of dollars invested in the mechanics; about $4,000 in 2001 and an additional $1,700 in 2012. I have a video of the 1968 running on youtube which I am working on making visible. The vehicle has some rare parts including the rare shorty bumper and Euro lights and just those two parts would sell for close to $2,000 alone. The 1974 runs and is an automatic with a straight body and I was going to transfer the engine into the 1974 along with the exterior parts and make it a roundie. The 1974 has bilstin shocks and a nice interior. My intention which can be done by the purchaser is to finance the project by selling the parts you don't need such as the interior, dash, metal and so on. The 1974 will need its driver side base boards replaced but I have a contact in Colorado who has a complete undercarriage ready to sell for $500 that will fit the car. The 1974 apparently has less than 67,000 original miles but the undercarriage I would replace with the contact in Colorado who can take car of you. I have also found a rear roundie metal if you want to convert the 74 to make a roundie. The smart thing about this purchase is you can tailor the car you want and sell off the parts you don't need and it will turn into a rather inexpensive project because the parts are worth quite a bit, the automatic transmission for example would sell for $300 and the bumpers would sell for an additional $300 so you can see how the project can self fund itself and you could even purchase both cars to simply make a profit by parting them out and making a considerable amount more that the reserve price. The shipping will also be cheaper as you can get a great discount and getting both vehicles shipped which should cost you about $300-$400.

A few things to note: do not ask if I will sell one of the vehicles or ask if I am interested in selling a part. Also, please don't ask the reserve price.  I am only interested in selling both vehicles at once to one party. My reserve price is very reasonable and I could make quite a bit more if I had the time and space available. The 68 runs very well and would look great if the cover was replaced for about $70 but other than that the motor runs well and so does the transmission on both cars. The wheels on the 1974 are very sharp and would look great if they are cleaned up a bit and the headliner and interior is in pretty good shape. I don't really need to explain what you can do and how much money you can make if you are the type of buyer who would buy these cars, you already know what you have in mind but feel free to give me any questions.

Thanks and good luck

On Apr-07-14 at 18:53:21 PDT, seller added the following information:

In addition, the 68 has a trunk full of parts. I am going to throw in likely several hundred dollars worth of parts. I have new belts, rubberized stripping for the doors, brand new set of spark plugs, I have shocks, I even have some parts that are still in plastic, brand new blue coil from a MSD Package...I have owned several 2002 's and one had performance parts so they are not related but I have some Dual Spark Package Parts. Performance Spark Plug Wire Set, Extra Distributor, Brand New Battery, Brand New Battery Harness, there are extra moldings (you can see how the 68 does not have the metal strap but most of it is in the trunk and there are parts missing on the 74 but there should be more than enough to work with. The tires are also in pretty good shape. There are 6 X 9 speakers, an amp, the AC Unit has shocked lots of people. I have been told it can be easily fixed (however I did not look into it). Whoever buys this is probably going to feel like I am a fool but honestly, I don't care, I just don't have the time, I am running a business right now and I just don't have he time to deal with all this stuff but I would not be surprised if you could milk $15,000 + out of this. The AC Central Console is in good shape and sturdy which is important if you are going to work with it to put some gauges in there. Even the dash on the 74 isn't so bad, its actually in pretty good shape and has the standard one crack and a hairline crack. The 68 interior itself, if restored could be sold for a considerable amount of money. That 68 is a gold mine if you know what you are doing simply because people looking for 68 original parts are going to be after them and my whole plan was to restore as many of those parts and sell them to finance the project. The speedometer is fine in the 74 but it is not working in the 68 but the other gauges are working and the lights are fine. I am trying to think of as much stuff as I can. I am still trying to get the Youtube Video of me driving around the 68 so you can hear the engine and the car shifting. As soon as I can figure out how to get the video from my phone to youtube I will post it.

2014 BMW 4 Series Coupe officially debuts, priced from $41,425*

Fri, 14 Jun 2013

Well, that didn't take long. Less than two hours after the first images of the 2014 BMW 4 Series Coupe leaked onto the Internet, we've been given the go-ahead to publish the whole kit and caboodle. And while we won't say we told you so, it looks as though the car's official details are standing true to our earlier predictions.
In other words, BMW will offer the 4 Series in 428i and 435i models, both of which can be had with xDrive all-wheel drive. Just like in the 3 Series, the 428i is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine, good for 240 horsepower and 255 pound-feet of torque, and the 435i gets BMW's turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six making 300 hp and 300 lb-ft. In three of the four models, both a six-speed manual and eight-speed automatic transmission are available; the 428i xDrive can only be had with the auto 'box. The 428i (with rear-wheel drive, we assume) can hit 60 miles per hour in 5.7 seconds (though BMW doesn't specify with which transmission), and the 435i will do that same sprint in 5.3 seconds with the manual and five seconds flat with the eight-speed auto.
We've already dissected the 4 Series' visuals, but the numbers show just how different it is from the 3 Series sedan. The 4 Coupe is one-tenth of an inch longer overall, while riding on the same 110.6-inch wheelbase, is 0.6 inches wider, and has a roofline that's a full 2.7 inches closer to the ground. It looks sleek, incorporating BMW's new design language from the 3 Series with an overall profile that's similar to the larger 6 Series coupe.

2023 J.D. Power APEAL Study shows new-car customer satisfaction scores slip

Thu, Jul 20 2023

J.D. Power survey results have been slightly up but mostly down for automakers this year, literally. In February, the 2023 Vehicle Dependability Study showed an overall decline compared the 2022 a month before the Customer Service Index Study did the same. The trend reversed in June with a better overall score on the 2023 U.S. Electric Vehicle Consideration Study than in 2022, then declined again the same month on with a lower overall score on the 2023 Initial Quality Study. The declines continue with the 2023 J.D. Power U.S. Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study, overall satisfaction among the 84,555 respondents down two points overall compared to 2022, to 845 out of 1,000 points. Because last year's score dropped compared to 2021, this year marks the first consecutive decline in the study's 28-year history. The study tries to "[measure] owners' emotional attachment and level of excitement with new vehicle" after 90 days of ownership by asking new owners to rate 37 attributes in 10 areas around the vehicle, such as the feeling they get when they hit the accelerator. Satisfaction with nine of the attributes is down this year versus last, fuel economy the only segment to show better results with 15 points more satisfaction. Styling and infotainment are big drags on satisfaction. Responses to new car exterior looks tallied 888 points, down from 894 last year, the largest drop in this year's study. On the digital side, less than half of those surveyed this year said they prefer using a manufacturer's built-in infotainment. From 70% of respondents in 2020 preferring to use a manufacturer's in-house software to play audio instead of Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, that's 56% in 2023. Going all-in on Google appears to have the best effect. J.D. Power said that vehicles with both Google's Android Automotive Operating System (AAOS) and Google Automotive Services (GAS) "score higher in the infotainment category than those with no AAOS whatsoever. AAOS without GAS receives the lowest scores for infotainment of the three categories."  Frank Hanley, senior director of auto benchmarking at J.D. Power, said, "Despite the technology and design innovations that manufacturers put into new vehicles, owners are lukewarm about them. While innovations like charging pads, vehicle apps and advanced audio features should enhance an owner’s experience, this is not the case when problems are experienced.

Dinan S3-R BMW 1M Coupe

Wed, 02 Apr 2014

I nearly shed tears a few years ago upon learning that BMW was only planning to produce a very limited quantity of its then-new 2011 1 Series M Coupe. In simplest terms, the two-door was a 1 Series fitted with a modified version of the automaker's twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six, and the running gear (gearbox, driveshaft, axles) from contemporary M3 models. It was also a return to form for the brand. Aggressively short and stubby in stature but packing telltale flared wheel arches that hinted at its potential, the four-seater was a spiritual successor to the original (and much loved) E30 M3 from decades earlier.
After spending a day with the original high-performance 1 at New York's Monticello Motor Club, I declared, "The little coupe with the big flares is old-school retro cool and deliciously fun to drive ... the new BMW 1 Series M Coupe doesn't target boy-racers, it targets enthusiasts." Yet sadly - and despite strong demand - BMW limited the model's production to just one year. All told, only 740 units made it to the States, and each was gobbled up at a starting price of $46,135, a price tag history will show to be a bargain.
Since I had little hope of even driving one again, I deliberately pushed all memories of BMW's 1 Series M Coupe from my mind - until my phone rang recently. On the other end was a representative from Dinan Engineering who wanted to know if I would be interested in driving the company's new S3-R BMW 1M. A quick Google search revealed it to be a heavily modified version of the discontinued 1 Series M Coupe. As if they needed an answer...
