2011 BMW 1-Series M Coupe
Up for sale is one of the now legendary BMW 1M Coupes which were imported to the US in the 2011 Model year. This vehicle is 1 of 740 samples imported into the US for sale. I am the original owner of this car and as you can see from the mileage (4775 miles) I don't drive it much. It was purchased new as a special order and I took delivery in the first week of November 2011. I've taken extremely good care of it and since I own an independent BMW repair facility the vehicle has been extremely well maintained. All service is fully up-to-date and the factory warranty is still in effect through October 2015. If you're looking at this car you likely know what it is so I'll limit the description to the pertinent facts. Description Exterior Color: Alpine White Interior Color: Black Boston Leather with Orange Stitching Options: This 1M is configured with all possible options and includes the following packages and standalone options. Convenience Package
Premium Package
Heated Front Seats Satellite Radio Harman/Kardon Premium Audio BMW Apps Condition: I take extremely good care of my vehicles and this one is no exception. As the mileage is low it has spent much of its life in an enclosed garage with the battery on a trickle charger. There are no cosmetic issues that I'm aware of nor are there any mechanical issues. Service is fully up-to-date with the 1200 mile service performed at exactly 1200 miles along with two subsequent annual oil changes. The microfilter was replaced in March 2014 and a brake flush was performed at the same time. Tires are original and have plenty of tread left. This vehicle has been driven on public roads only and has never experienced any track or racing time. It has been driven in a spirited manner at times, but has never been abused or otherwise mistreated. As a matter of personal habit I don't run the engine over 3000RPM until the oil temperature has stabilized. This car has been treated with a significant amount of respect. This vehicle has never been involved in any type of accident nor has it ever had any paint or bodywork. Terms: Once a buyer agrees to purchase this vehicle (either via Buy It Now or an accepted offer) her will be required to execute the following as follows: 1) Pay a non-refundable deposit of $5000.00 via PayPal within 48 hours of listing close. (eBay's system will collect $500 immediately and the balance of $4500 is due within 48 hours). 2) Submit full payment for the remaining balance within 7 days of listing close. Full payment must be in the form of a bank wire or cashier's check. This vehicle is financed so partial payment of the balance will be made directly to the bank. Vehicle will be delivered in Tucson, AZ once payment has been submitted and confirmed received. Buyer is responsible for the arrangement of pickup or transportation from Tucson, AZ. I will assist as needed in the coordination of shipping. This vehicle is the real deal and is priced accordingly. I am under no immediate pressure to sell it. If you're looking for a White 1M then this is probably the cleanest sample on the market. |

Can the government mechanically force you to wear your seatbelt? [w/poll]
Fri, 30 Aug 2013
The National Highway Traffic Administration is considering the use of ignition interlocks in vehicles that would require the seatbelts of occupied seats to be fastened in order to drive the car, Automotive News reports, four decades after Congress moved to prevent manufacturers from installing them in cars sold in the US market. Following a transportation bill passed last year that lift some of the restrictions on seatbelt interlocks, automakers such as BMW are considering the benefits of using them in future cars. Now, before you go crying about your lost freedom, keep reading.
BMW said in an October 2012 petition that the use of seatbelt interlocks would allow the company to make lighter and more spacious vehicles, if the devices could be used in lieu of unbelted crash tests. The crash test has required the addition of bulky safety features, such as knee bolsters, that aren't as necessary when occupants are buckled up, especially when considering the dizzyng list of safety features that come standard on today's cars. Europe, which has a higher rate of seatbelt use than in the US, doesn't perform unbelted crash tests on cars sold there.
2014 BMW 4 Series Coupe officially debuts, priced from $41,425*
Fri, 14 Jun 2013Well, that didn't take long. Less than two hours after the first images of the 2014 BMW 4 Series Coupe leaked onto the Internet, we've been given the go-ahead to publish the whole kit and caboodle. And while we won't say we told you so, it looks as though the car's official details are standing true to our earlier predictions.
In other words, BMW will offer the 4 Series in 428i and 435i models, both of which can be had with xDrive all-wheel drive. Just like in the 3 Series, the 428i is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine, good for 240 horsepower and 255 pound-feet of torque, and the 435i gets BMW's turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six making 300 hp and 300 lb-ft. In three of the four models, both a six-speed manual and eight-speed automatic transmission are available; the 428i xDrive can only be had with the auto 'box. The 428i (with rear-wheel drive, we assume) can hit 60 miles per hour in 5.7 seconds (though BMW doesn't specify with which transmission), and the 435i will do that same sprint in 5.3 seconds with the manual and five seconds flat with the eight-speed auto.
We've already dissected the 4 Series' visuals, but the numbers show just how different it is from the 3 Series sedan. The 4 Coupe is one-tenth of an inch longer overall, while riding on the same 110.6-inch wheelbase, is 0.6 inches wider, and has a roofline that's a full 2.7 inches closer to the ground. It looks sleek, incorporating BMW's new design language from the 3 Series with an overall profile that's similar to the larger 6 Series coupe.
What's up with this thought-controlled BMW i3?
Tue, Jul 28 2015Autonomous driving? A car being controlled by just verbal commands? One pilot program is going way beyond that this year with a car that can theoretically be mind-controlled. UK-based insurance-services company MoneySuperMarket is promoting something called "Epic Mind Drive." The project involves a BMW i3 electric vehicle (nice and futuristic) being rigged up with an autonomous driving system. Only instead of the system watching the road, it involves a person sitting in a seat outside of the car with an electroencephalography (EEG) neuro headset connected to the vehicle. In fact, that headset records brain activity and translates it into instructions. Those instructions are converted to radio frequency that's sent to the car to instruct it to perform various speed and turning duties. Apparently, yes, the car will be mind-controlled. Somehow. If this were intended for real-world use, it would go far beyond the autonomous-driving programs that have been in the works for the past couple of years. Nissan has been real active in that area, with chief Carlos Ghosn saying earlier this year that a "hands-free" car for heavy stop-and-go traffic may be available within the next couple of years. And last year, Google unveiled its autonomous car prototype (though it wasn't nearly as cool-looking as the Bimmer i3) while Tesla Motors has been making noise in that area as well. Besides the i3, MoneySuperMarket has developed the Epic Mind Drive mobile game that uses face-tracking technology to control a car on the screen. The idea with these two whiz-bang ideas is to get drivers to realize that they should think as they drive, it seems. As for the telepathic i3, we're as interested in details as the next website, so we checked out the two videos that are supposed to hype the project. While there is some groovy jazzy-electro music involved, the details of how this works are pretty much nonexistent (16 sensors, think to turn the wheel, and that's about it), so we look forward to hearing more about the project once it's underway. You can check out the videos above and below. News Source: Daily Mail, MoneySuperMarket Green BMW mind control
