This is one of only 894 total TT RS models that made it to the States during the very brief (and final) two year run. The car is outrageous to drive, and the engine note through the titanium exhaust along with the whistle of the turbo is something that must be experienced. The fabled 2.5 liter racing engine from GMP/Audi is truly one-of-a-kind, and when mated to the six-speed (only transmission option) it is something to be experienced. This car has ever option plus the Titanium Sport Package including wheels and titanium sport exhuast

After a hiatus, Audi's high-performance RS line made its way back to the U.S. last year in the form of the new four-seat TT RS coupe. It's powered by a 360-horsepower inline-five-cylinder engine that teams with a six-speed manual transmission, and Audi cites a zero-to-60-mph acceleration time of just under 4 seconds. Competitors include the BMW M3 and Porsche Cayman.

The TT RS rings in at 3,306 pounds. Its aggressively styled exterior features a fixed rear wing spoiler, dual oval exhaust outlets, 19-inch aluminum wheels, a black-gloss diamond-pattern grille, large front air inlets and prominent side sills. Nineteen-inch gloss-black wheels with red matte accents are optional for red and black cars. The headlights include LED daytime running lights. A power-retractable spoiler is available in place of the fixed wing. Exterior features include:

  • Aluminum-intensive construction
  • Xenon high-intensity-discharge headlights; adaptive headlights optional
  • Heated side mirrors

Interior
Inside, the TT RS has a thicker three-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel, brushed aluminum accents, RS-specific door handles and aluminum doorsills with the RS logo. Power-adjustable front sport seats are finished in silk Nappa leather, and Alcantara upholstery is available. Interior features include:

  • Automatic air conditioning
  • Cruise control
  • CD stereo
  • Available Bose premium stereo
  • Available navigation system

Under the Hood
The TT RS features Audi's turbocharged 2.5-liter inline-five-cylinder engine, which produces 360 hp and 343 pounds-feet of torque. Audi claims the TT RS' top speed is 174 mph. It's only offered with a six-speed manual transmission. Mechanical features include:

  • Quattro all-wheel drive
  • Chassis lowered 10 millimeters
  • Standard magnetic ride system includes a Sport mode that stiffens the overall ride, enhances throttle response and opens flaps in the exhaust system for a more pronounced sound
  • More aggressive sport exhaust with matte-black exhaust tips is available

Safety
Safety features include:

  • Four-wheel-disc antilock brakes
  • Front-seat side-impact airbags with head extensions
  • Front knee airbags
  • Electronic stability system
  • Optional rear parking sensors

Audi building 50 camouflaged Jon Olsson Edition A4 Avant wagons [w/video]

Thu, 13 Feb 2014

Swedish Autoblog readers, have you been driving your Audi A4 Avant wagons and thought, 'You know, I really wish my car looked more like a camouflaged World War II battleship?' Well, great news for you, as skier and Audi enthusiast Jon Olsson has teamed up with the German brand's Swedish outfit to offer this new limited-edition A4 Avant.
Finished in a camo patterned after Olsson's own RS6 Avant (which you can view in the video below) and slope-ready Lamborghini Gallardo, the Jon Olsson Camo Edition will cost fans of Smörgåsbord 399,900 Swedish Krona ($62,071 at today's rates). For that sum, you'll get the aforementioned A4 Avant wrapped in the Olsson-designed camo, as well as sport seats, a roof box, Xenon headlights, black 19-inch wheels shod in winter rubber, a sport suspension and Audi's S-Line exterior treatment. The Camo Edition will only be available with the 2.0-liter TDI engine and Quattro all-wheel drive.
There will only be 50 examples made, so we'd strongly recommend interested parties get down to their local Swedish Audi dealer. And if you want to see what the Camo Edition looks like in motion, scroll down for the video of Olsson's Audi RS6 Avant, finished in a similar pattern, running around Switzerland. We've also included the translated press release from Audi of Sweden. Have a look.

Audi prepping minor refresh for S6

Thu, 17 Apr 2014

Audi is well underway with testing for all of the refreshed versions of its A6-based sedan. We've already shown you shots of the Euro-spec A6 Allroad (which will wear some of its styling with our US-spec A6 sedan), and now we have some shots of a car that will actually arrive in the United States - the S6.
Like the Allroad, this will be quite a modest refresh, with tweaks to the headlights and taillights, as well as some slightly revised front and rear fascias. The headlights should get a new LED DRL pattern, although we doubt the changes will be much more drastic than that.
As with the Allroad, it seems likely that Audi will make a few very small changes to the interior, while the MMI infotainment system should also see an update. Changes under the hood, though, are more difficult to guess. That said, minor changes could be in store, but don't expect a dramatic increase in power or performance.

Subaru WRX STI vs. Audi S3 in compact AWD dustup

Wed, 23 Jul 2014

It's not every day that a Subaru and an Audi can be reasonably compared head-to-head; the two brands tend not to compete directly in their respective segments. However, the latest WRX STI and the S3 Sedan offer the perfect chance to find out if the working-class Scooby can beat its upper-crust competitor.
The UK's Auto Express gets behind the wheel of these two all-wheel drive performance sedans, or saloons as the Brits call them. Across the pond, both of them are rated at an identical 296 horsepower, but the Subaru edges out the Four Rings on torque. Like in the US, British buyers have to pay a little more to get the Audi, but it comes with a nicer interior and more brand cachet, if that means anything to you.
The video starts out with a fairly standard road test comparing the two of them back-to-back - all fairly subjective. But then Auto Express takes the trip to the drag strip, and the results there are much more conclusive. There's a definite winner when they cross the line, but you have to scroll down to see which of these turbocharged models with rallying heritage wins out.
