Limited Edition 2002 Audi TT - Only year and 500 made with unique color scheme out of entire 2000-2006 production run. Owned for past 7 yrs. 181k Miles Quattro AWD. 225 HP 4 cyl Turbo. 6 Speed manual transmission Clean carfax.

Body: Body and paint is in good condition. No rust or corrosion; still passes as a "new" car. Original paint. Wheels clean no curb rash.  Blemishes here and there but the car is definitely a "10 footer" (meaning it looks like a new car from 10 ft).  Headlights look fresh and new; not faded.  The paint is Audi's rare "Avus Silver", which is not the typical silver all the other TTs of this generation have.

Interior:  Very clean and well preserved.  Seats are still plush and colorful with no rips in leather.  Door panels and handles are like "new". Pictures speak for themselves.  The rest is cosmetic.  Glove compartment latch is broken (common problem with these cars); so it's stays shut.  Headliner will need replacement.  On board computer readout has typical dead pixels; common volkswagen/audi issue of those years.

Mechanical: Tires < 3000 miles Brakes/rotors good Complete timing belt change (tensioner, waterpump, roller, belts, camshaft seals, thermostat and housing) .Replaced Shifter and linkages. Clutch is still fresh, and hydraulics (original Audi OEM replacements) Haldex AWD system fluid changed. New ingition coils and spark plugs AC works - no issues. Audi replaced valve cover gasket a year ago. This car leaks nothing; no oil leaks or fluid leaks of any kind! KONI front shocks. 1 front CV drive shaft replaced. Will come with spare drive shaft for next side. Oil changed regularly with Synthetic. Transmission - never had issues. crank speed sensor replaced. Turbo works great no issues.  When you rev up the engine it sounds strong and like it should; no rattles, weird sounds, squeeks, squeels, whins, or anything.  Driving you hear no unusual noises either. Engine well preserved and clean; no oily residues or built-up corrosion.

Overall it's not a perfect 10,  but doesn't look like a car that typically has 181k miles on it either.  Honestly people don't believe the mileage when I tell them.
Car gets compliments all the time. Car is being listed locally. Auction may end early.  If you are going to own a 1st generation TT, this rare edition is the one to own!  The Audi dealer was even impressed last time I had it serviced there.

Rare and great sports car. Runs and drives strong. Ready for another 100k miles. BID WITH CONFIDENCE. No buyers with 0 feedback. As is but welcomed to test drive and inspect.

Mercedes chief invites Audi, BMW to compete in F1

Thu, Dec 4 2014

Mercedes-Benz didn't just win the Formula One World Championship in 2014 – it positively dominated it. The team won all but three of the grands prix this season, scoring a one-two finish at more than half of them and landing at least one car on the podium at every race without exception. It goes without saying, then, that the German automaker thrives on competition, but now it's welcoming even more. Speaking with Germany's Sport Bild at its homecoming celebration in Stuttgart, Daimler chief Dieter Zetsche welcomed Mercedes' biggest rivals Audi and BMW to join it on the F1 grid. Noting that the three German brands share some 80 percent of the market for luxury automobiles, Zetsche said that F1 would make a natural arena of competition for Mercedes, Audi and BMW to fight for top bragging rights. The three currently compete against each other in front of home audiences in the DTM touring car series – effectively Germany's equivalent to NASCAR – but of the ten races held this year, the majority were in Germany itself, and all of them took place in Europe. BMW last competed in F1 when it bought the Sauber team in 2006, but withdrew from the series in 2009. Despite its progenitor Auto Union having fielded the famous Silver Arrows in pre-war grand prix racing, Audi has never been a player in modern F1 racing, though recent rumors have linked it to a potential foray – spurred by the arrival of sister-company Porsche on its home turf at Le Mans, the departure of several of its key endurance drivers and the hiring of former Scuderia Ferrari chief Stefano Domenicali. Porsche had similarly considered an F1 program before getting the go-ahead to compete with Audi at Le Mans. As for the prospect of Mercedes competing in other international racing series, Zetsche added that year-long preparations for 24 hours of racing at Le Mans didn't present a good cost-benefit ratio in his estimation, but that Formula E (where Audi currently supports a quasi-works entry) would be worth a closer look.

Audi sees room for TT family, including possible crossover and superlight models

Wed, 12 Feb 2014

With the third-generation Audi TT slated for a debut at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show in just a few weeks time, we've received some interesting news out of the United Kingdom. Speaking to the crew at Top Gear, Chief Engineer Ulrich Hackenberg made some interesting statements about the next TT, noting that he likes the idea of a production Allroad Shooting Brake.
"I can imagine the TT has much more potential than we have used up to now. That's why we did this Allroad [Shooting Brake] Concept. The trend is to smaller crossovers. So for example you do a crossover TT. It would have a big group of fans," Hackenberg told TG.
That makes it almost sound like Audi is trying to expand one popular, fashion-forward model into a wildly different niche, like Mini did moving from Hardtop to Countryman (or perhaps more appropriately, the Paceman). We'll reserve judgement, if only because the Allroad Shooting Brake was one of the more popular concepts at the Detroit Auto Show, making our Editors' Choice list.

Next Audi R8 to be up to 130 pounds lighter

Tue, 26 Nov 2013

"Simplify and add lightness," as Lotus founder Colin Chapman said. In a world where even supercars are subject to environmental, efficiency and emissions standards, lighter vehicles are being looked on as a sort of panacea - make it lighter, and it's automatically faster, more agile, easier to brake and better on gas.
Knowing this, it comes as no shock that Audi is looking at ways to lighten up its next-generation R8, with the brand's head of technical development Ulrich Hackenberg targeting a 110- to 130-pound diet for the mid-engine rocket. This supports previous reports regarding the focus for the next R8. Motor Trend reports that aluminum and carbon fiber feature heavily in plans for the next R8, which should go a long way toward slimming down even the lightest of R8s, the 3,678-pound V10 Plus model.
There's more over at Motor Trend, including the buff book's attempts to get Hackenberg to discuss powertrain options for the next R8.
