2002 Audi S8 4.2l Quattro Low Miles 94,873 on 2040-cars
Fort Lauderdale, Florida, United States
My 2002 Audi S8 is up for sale. Metallic Black with black leather interior. This car was on my short-list of cars to own since back in the 1990's. Upon finding one here close to me in South Florida three years ago and taking it for a test drive, I knew immediately I had found my new car. It's a true beast, without a doubt the best car I've ever owned. It still turns heads everywhere I go. The styling has aged quite well and it carries quite a presence traveling down the road.
I am the third owner and bought the car with 86,000 miles. The odometer now reads 94,873. The vehicle has spent practically its entire life here in south Florida. All services have been performed by The Collection, Audi Pembroke Pines or well known Audi independent repair facilities here in the South Florida area. I have all records from 2006 until the present and they will be included with the sale. I am very particular about my cars (almost to a fault-ask my wife) and am trying to disclose everything I can about the automobile so that any potential buyer can feel confident in knowing what they are getting. Upon purchasing the car I knew it was due for a timing chain service (a costly procedure). This was performed immediately along with a full inspection of the car for any other preventative maintenance that could be performed. I had the following done: - The timing belt job mentioned above consisting of the belt itself, the dampers, levers, rollers, and serpentine belt. - The thermostat was also replaced at this point as a preventative measure and as it is easy to reach with the belt service being performed. - I also replaced the water pump and had them flush all coolant. - The air cleaner/element was replaced along with the cabin air filter. - An Audi standard 80,000 mile service check was taken care of as well (too much to type). - The engine oil filter was replaced along with fresh oil (100% synthetic) and new spark plugs were installed. - Finally, the transmission fluid, filter and gasket were all removed and replaced. The total for this service alone was over $3,000. The price reflects the small repairs that are needed. -- The front left foglight is missing after the front bumper catching the pavement (a common problem with these D2 A/S8's). Also the right washer mechanism popped out at this time. -- The drivers window regulator failed causing the window to fall off track and subsequently crack itself against the frame (again, a common problem/fault with these cars). You can see clearly in the pictures. The glass is double paned, so there is no leakage whatsoever thankfully. I went ahead and found a donor window off a totaled S8 to replace it with along with a new regulator. The rear drivers window had a small hairline crack at the very top corner when I bought the car (unable to be seen with the window rolled up - why I missed it originally) so the rear window from the same donor S8 was purchased at this time. -- The passenger mirror housing had developed a small crack from the hot sun here in south Florida and the drivers mirror motor was acting up by not automatically tilting downward when the car was placed in reverse, so I also purchased a pair of left and right mirrors (again from the same donor S8 automobile). -- The interior door trim is coming loose on the front driver and rear right passenger doors and will need to be corrected. An easy fix. -- There are small nicks on the front from normal road use and a small scuff on the right rear door trim. Keep in mind that though the car has been well taken care of, it is twelve years old, so it will show light signs of wear. Just see the pictures for verification. I was about to send the car in to get these repairs done but due to another car purchase I am willing to take a loss here. ALL PARTS I bought (front drivers window, rear drivers window, drivers window regulator, driver and passenger mirrors and front bumper washer assembly WILL BE INCLUDED in the sale price. These parts alone cost well over $1,600. Once again -- my loss, your gain. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ I'm asking $12,500 though I am accepting reasonable offers. Buyer is responsible for shipping though I would be willing to help somewhat depending on your situation - communicate with me what you may need. I should add that the car is also listed for sale locally here in the Fort Lauderdale area and I reserve the right to end this listing early. -- So someone asked: "Why then would I sell her?" I've decided to upgrade to a D3 W12 and would rather sell my car outright than trade her in, get a lowball price, and possibly have it end up at auction or worse. These cars deserve a loving owner who is willing to maintain them and love them. This car was on my short-list of cars to own since seeing the movie Ronin back in the 1990's. Upon finding one here close to me in South Florida three years ago and taking it for a test drive, I knew immediately I had found my new car. It's a true beast, without a doubt the best car I've ever owed. It still turns heads everywhere I go. The styling has aged quite well and it carries quite a presence traveling down the road. I will be happy to answer any and all questions you may have for me though I really have tried to be as thorough as possible here. Nevertheless, ask your questions before you bid. I don't want to deal with uncommitted bidders if at all possible. 2016 Audi S6 and S7 First Drive
Mon, Jun 15 2015Audi paired the S6 and S7 for the purposes of this test in Southern California, but these are rather disparate cars. A three-box sedan, even a sporty one like this S6, is for a specific kind of customer. A sleek, four-door hatchback like the S7, on the other hand, is for a different kind of person. These two people might not be as different as Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, but at the very least the S7 is the S6's lothario neighbor – the one who's always got a glass of scotch in one hand and a chambermaid in the other. A day spent in the canyons around Los Angeles proves there's a big difference between these cars. First, though, let's discuss their similarities. The S6 and the S7 get the same design overhaul we detailed in our piece on the 2016 Audi A6, namely the edge work done on the grille, bumpers, headlights, and taillights. Additionally, they get Audi's new MMI system – the brand's next step in infotainment. A day spent in the canyons proves there's a big difference between these cars. Changes exclusive to these S models include flat-bottomed steering wheels with model badges at the base of the center spoke, and aluminum-finish shift paddles. The pedals and footrest get the aluminum look as well. There's also a new shift lever, and a revised design for the Quattro badge. New seat and surface treatments join the options list, such as Beaufort Walnut inlays and Valcona leather seats in Cedar Brown. The S7 has a new Arras Red interior option as part of its design selection palette, but the striking addition there is the carbon fiber inlay it comes with, which is interwoven with a red thread. You lean in really, really close and see that scarlet yarn, and the cockpit immediately feels more special. It's the kind of beautiful subtlety you expect from Audi, and the result is a scrumptious cabin. The twin-turbo, 4.0-liter V8 gets 30 more horses, topping out at 450 horsepower. Torque remains the same at 406-pound-feet, but fuel economy increases ever so slightly to 18 miles per gallon in the city, 27 mpg highway, and 21 mpg combined. The S6 makes a meal of curves, but it does give away a hint of the effort. It seems that a fair number of buyers wanted S vehicles without the whole suite of go-fast bits; they liked having the "S" on their chests, they didn't need all of the superpowers. Thus, Audi took the Quattro sport differential and dynamic steering off the standard menu, and bundled it with the sport exhaust to create the now-optional Sport Package.
Next Audi TT glimpsed, same as it ever was?
Fri, 28 Feb 2014Audi has teased the new TT coupe ahead of its Geneva Motor Show reveal with renderings and video, but now, what appears to be a photo of the new two-door has leaked onto the web, courtesy of Autofans.be. And if you're thinking, "Well, jeez, that looks familiar," you definitely aren't alone. Aside from the new lighting character in the taillamps, everything you see here looks pretty much unchanged from the old car. Of course, the front should get a nice freshening, and that interior should be super-high-tech. We'll reserve final judgments until we see the new TT live in Geneva next week.
Audi building 50 camouflaged Jon Olsson Edition A4 Avant wagons [w/video]
Thu, 13 Feb 2014Swedish Autoblog readers, have you been driving your Audi A4 Avant wagons and thought, 'You know, I really wish my car looked more like a camouflaged World War II battleship?' Well, great news for you, as skier and Audi enthusiast Jon Olsson has teamed up with the German brand's Swedish outfit to offer this new limited-edition A4 Avant.
Finished in a camo patterned after Olsson's own RS6 Avant (which you can view in the video below) and slope-ready Lamborghini Gallardo, the Jon Olsson Camo Edition will cost fans of Smörgåsbord 399,900 Swedish Krona ($62,071 at today's rates). For that sum, you'll get the aforementioned A4 Avant wrapped in the Olsson-designed camo, as well as sport seats, a roof box, Xenon headlights, black 19-inch wheels shod in winter rubber, a sport suspension and Audi's S-Line exterior treatment. The Camo Edition will only be available with the 2.0-liter TDI engine and Quattro all-wheel drive.
There will only be 50 examples made, so we'd strongly recommend interested parties get down to their local Swedish Audi dealer. And if you want to see what the Camo Edition looks like in motion, scroll down for the video of Olsson's Audi RS6 Avant, finished in a similar pattern, running around Switzerland. We've also included the translated press release from Audi of Sweden. Have a look.
