 Audi S5 - 4.2L V8 - 6-speed Manual Trans. - Phantom Black Pearl Effect exterior - Magma Red interior - Tinted windows

Highly desirable AUDI S5. It has all lots of options including rain-sensing wipers, bi-xenon adaptive headlights, a panoramic tilt-up sunroof, tri-zone automatic climate control, eight-way power front sport seats with seat heaters, and auto-dimming mirrors. Stereo is the Bang and Olufsen 505 watt 14 speaker audio system with a CD changer, satellite radio, and an auxiliary audio jack and Ipod connection in the glove box. Also included is Bluetooth connectivity, keyless ignition, park assist (with a rear-view camera).

The car was purchased when I was living in Arizona in August 2010 as a CPO with 27k miles.  It has been in Chicago since Oct. 2011 and has only seen 2 winters.  I used a winter wheel/tire setup for the previous 2 winters (currently available for sale separately - 18" wheels with Michelin Pilot Alpin tires - please inquire via email).  The car has been garaged the whole time I've owned it.

The car was in a small rear-end collision in December 2011.  No structural damage, only cosmetic.  Read bumper cover and bumper spoiler was replaced with new OEM parts. The work was done at Ultimate Paint Shop in Lake Bluff to the highest standards.  Receipts are available.

  • Interior 8 out of 10
    • Some wear on driver side seat - door facing bolster (see pic)
    • Audi OEM rubber mats
  • Exterior 7 out of 10
    • Tires are at 4/32 to 5/32 tread depth
    • Windows (side and rear) are tinted.  I am not sure of %, as I purchased it this way.
    • Wheels will probably need re-finishing. I believe previous owner had them re-done, poorly, and paint is flaking off and some curb rash exists.

Please note that the car is still financed.

Audi RS7 prototype is world's sportiest self-driving car [w/video]

Wed, 15 Oct 2014

Audi may not be the only automaker out there toying with self-driving automobile technology, but it is arguably the fastest of them. A few years back, it raced unleashed a driverless TTS on the Bonneville Salt Flats, then sent it up Pikes Peak and around Thunderhill. But now it's taking things a step further with the vehicle you see here.
This RS7 Sportback has been fitted with steering, brakes, throttle and transmission hooked up to a computer system that combines GPS, high-frequency radio signals and 3D imaging camera to drive the vehicle autonomously not just in slow-paced, stop-and-go traffic, but around the track at the same pace a professional racing driver would push it: full throttle on the straights, full braking before the corner and 1.1-g of cornering force.
As promised, Audi plans to unleash the self-driving RS7 - which it calls "the sportiest piloted driving car in the world" - at Hockenheim next weekend prior to the DTM season finale, where it is anticipated to pull a 2:10 lap time. The next stage will be to set it lose on the Nürburgring Nordschleife, all 154 turns and 13 miles of it, which ought to pose a heck of a challenge to the engineers from Ingolstadt. In the meantime you can scope it out in the high-res image gallery above and the second teaser video below.

Audi trademarks SQ2, SQ4, Q9 and F-Tron nameplates

Thu, 26 Dec 2013

Audi is planning a whole raft of new models for the near future, and now we have further insight into what at least some of those models might be. The German automaker has reportedly filed trademarks for a series of model names, including SQ2, SQ4, Q9 and F-Tron.
Following in the footsteps of the SQ5 performance crossover, the SQ2 and SQ4 nameplates would seem to indicate that Audi is planning performance versions of its upcoming compact crossovers. The Q9 would suggest that a larger crossover is in the works to slot in above the already gargantuan Q7. And the F-Tron name could be used for a fuel-cell version of the A7 or other models, following a similar naming pattern to the e-tron range of electric vehicles.
Of course Audi could simply be filing these trademarks as a safeguard and may not actually build any of these models. But one way or another, it indicates a certain measure of intent exists as Ingolstadt gears up to expand its lineup with 11 new models in the next few years.

When Android Automotive goes in the dash, Google wins — and automakers lose data

Tue, May 22 2018

You've gotta hand it to Google for the way the Silicon Valley tech giant has made indelible inroads into the car on multiple fronts. The most obvious is with its pioneering self-driving car technology that's caused car companies to get their act together on autonomous vehicles — and also collaborate with Google. Google has more directly extended its influence and data-mining capabilities into the car with its Android Auto smartphone-projection platform that most major automakers have adopted along with Apple's CarPlay. And now it's preparing to dig even deeper into dashboards by deploying its open-source operating system, Android Automotive, beginning with Audi and Volvo. Volvo recently announced that its next-generation Sensus infotainment system will run Android Automotive as an OS and include Google's Play Store for cloud-based content, Maps for navigation and Google Assistant for voice recognition, which can even command a car's climate control. By embedding Google in the dash, Volvo says owners will get an improved connected experience. "Bringing Google services into Volvo cars will accelerate innovation in connectivity and boost our development in applications and connected services," Volvo senior vice president of R&D Henrik Green said in a statement. "Soon, Volvo drivers will have direct access to thousands of in-car apps that make daily life easier and the connected in-car experience more enjoyable." Having Android Automotive onboard could benefit drivers — and provide a big win for Google, since it opens a deep and lucrative new data-mining vein for the company. But it's a wave of a white flag for car companies when it comes to delivering their own cloud-based content and services. It also represents a massive data giveaway and, for Audi, a reversal of earlier reservations about letting Google get too much access to car data. Not long after Android Auto and Apple CarPlay were introduced in 2014 and most automakers eagerly embraced the technologies, several German automakers second-guessed their decision when they realized what was at stake: data. At a conference in Berlin in 2015, Audi CEO Rupert Stadler said car owners "want to be in control of their data, and not subject to monitoring." A few months earlier, Stadler stated that "the data that we collect is our data and not Google's.
