Selling my 2001.5 Audi S4.  B5 bodystyle.  6 speed manual, twin turbo, black on black, 79K miles (will go up slightly as I still drive it sometimes).

Low mileage car for it's age.  Drives well.  Lot of power.  Has a few modifications, including downpipes, Borla exhaust (the Borla catback exhaust is missing the rear muffler section.  I got the car without it.  Still not loud), intake, APR Y pipe, snub mount and Euro Valeo headlights.  Computer is chipped.  Has flat foot shifting and launch control (2 step).  Car has RS4 style grilles and fog lights deleted (can be reinstalled).  Car is adult owned.  Stock turbos were replaced with another set of used, even lower mileage stock turbos a few months back.  At the same time, the N75 valve was replaced as well (boost control solenoid) with a new one.  Starter was replaced a month ago with brand new unit, and spark plugs were changed at the time as well.  Oil changed every 3k miles with synthetic.  Current oil change good for another 1500 miles or so.

Body is in very good shape.  Rear bumper has some scratches on the corner, and a few in the middle, from people parallel parking too close.  Front bumper was recently repainted due to all the rock chips.  Interior is in great shape.  Very clean.  Leather isn't worn out or cracked.  Radio in FM has a little static sometimes.    Battery is new (purchased sometime this year).  Tires are in good shape.  Spare is a full size wheel, exactly like the 4 on the car.

I bought this car about a year ago to drive around when my other car was off the road.  I have since gotten that car back on the road, and one has to go.  I've driven a few S4's before buying this one, and I have to say this one drives better than the rest of them, probably because of low mileage.

No smoke, car doesn't burn oil.  No weird sounds.  Drives straight as an arrow.  Clutch feels good.  I have a 7 year old that I drive around in this car.  I trust this thing.

Clean title in hand.  Can provide a copy of it before sale if need be.  I have this car titled to a friend's used car dealership (NY titling takes forever, and going that route sped things up a bit).  That will be transfered to you when payment is made.   If you are registering this car in New York state, sales tax has to be paid to me, and a sales tax paid slip will be issued.  I can do your NY DMV work too for an additional $250.  If you are in another state, you will pay tax to your own state when you title the car.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.  Sale of the car isn't limited to local buyers.  I can have the car transported to wherever it needs to go, as buyer's expense.  I do have friends in the transport business, which I may be able to get slightly lower pricing through.  Message me with zip code and I can provide a quote from them.  Also, you can fly in to pick up the car.  I can pick you up at the airport (Newark, NJ - EWR).  That is about 25 minutes away from where I have the car parked at.

Mixed sales results, but automaker stocks rise on need for cars in Houston

Fri, Sep 1 2017

DETROIT — The Big Three Detroit automakers on Friday reported better-than-expected August sales and issued optimistic outlooks for demand as residents of the Houston area replace flood-damaged cars and trucks after Hurricane Harvey, sending their stocks higher. General Motors, Ford and Fiat Chrysler posted mixed August U.S. sales, with GM up 7.5 percent and Ford and Fiat Chrysler down. Japanese automaker Toyota improved sales by nearly 7 percent, while Honda fell 2.4 percent. Still, analysts focused on the potential for Detroit automakers to cut inventories and stabilize used vehicle prices as residents of Houston, the fourth largest city in the United States, are forced to replace tens of thousands, perhaps hundreds of thousands, of vehicles after the devastation from Hurricane Harvey. Mark LaNeve, Ford's U.S. sales chief, told analysts on Friday that following Hurricane Katrina in 2005 "we saw a very dramatic snapback" in demand. That said, Ford sales fell 2.1 percent in August. It sold 209,897 vehicles in the United States, compared with 214,482 a year earlier. Sales were down 1.9 percent in the Ford division and off 5.8 percent at Lincoln. Demand was down for cars, crossovers and SUVs. It was not clear how many vehicles in the Houston area will be scrapped, LaNeve said, saying he had seen estimates ranging from 200,000 to 400,000 to 1 million. Ford's Houston dealers may have lost fewer than 5,000 vehicles in inventory, he said. Ford is the No. 1 automaker in the Houston market, with 18 percent share, according to IHS Markit. The company plans to ship used vehicles to Houston dealers and has "every indication we would have to add some production" of new vehicles to meet demand, LaNeve said. Investor concerns about inventories of unsold vehicles and falling used car prices have weighed on Detroit automakers' shares most of this year. Now, automakers can anticipate a jolt of demand from a big market that is a stronghold for Detroit brand trucks and SUVs. "It's got to be a positive for the industry," LaNeve said. Investors appeared to agree. GM shares rose as much as 3.3 percent to their highest since early March. Ford increased 2.8 percent at $11.34, and Fiat Chrysler's U.S.-traded shares were up 5.2 percent $15.91, hitting their highest in more than five years. GM reported a 7.5 percent increase in U.S. auto sales in August, helped by robust sales of crossovers across its four brands.

Stanford goes from Pikes Peak to Thunderhill with autonomous Audi TTS

Mon, Feb 16 2015

In the years since Stanford University engineers successfully programmed an Audi TTS to autonomously ascend Pikes Peak, the technology behind driverless cars has progressed leaps and bounds. Back then the Audi needed 27 minutes to make it up the 12.42-mile course – about 10 minutes slower than a human driver. These days, further improvements allow the vehicle to lap a track faster than a human. The researchers recently took their autonomous TTS named Shelley to the undulating Thunderhill Raceway Park, and let it go on track without anyone inside. The Audi reportedly hit over 120 miles per hour, and according to The Telegraph, the circuit's CEO, who's also an amateur racing driver, took some laps as well and was 0.4 seconds slower than the computer. To make these massive technological advancements, the Stanford engineers have been studying how racers handle a car. They also hooked up drivers' brains to electrodes and found the mind wasn't doing as much cognitively as expected. It instead operated largely on muscle memory. "So by looking at race car drivers we are actually looking at the same mathematical problem that we use for safety on the highways. We've got the point of being fairly comparable to an expert driver in terms of our ability to drive around the track," Professor Chris Gerdes, director of Stanford's Revs Program, said to The Telegraph. With progress coming so rapidly, it seems possible for autonomous racecars to best even elite drivers at some point in the near future. Related Video:

Audi spending an additional $2.5 billion on expansion through 2019

Thu, Jan 1 2015

Every year, it seems the Volkswagen Group announces a new and larger spend to push growth and profit, with Audi a regular recipient of the moolah. That's reasonable, seeing as hauls in 40 percent of Group operating profits. In December last year Audi said it would spend an additional 100 million euros ($122M US) per year through 2018 to develop new models and expand production, targeting 60 models by 2020 and luxury sales leadership. This month Audi said it will boost that by another two billion euros ($2.5B US) over the next five years, for a total outlay of 24 billion euros from 2014 to 2019. Something like 70 percent of those billions will be spent on new models, technology like "connectivity and lightweight construction," and factory expansion at its plants in Ingolstadt and Neckarsulm. Most of the ten models that will plump the lineup to 60 cars will mainly be aimed at the C and D segments, as well as crossovers, the brand's burgeoning portfolio of PHEV models, and all-electric cars that will begin staking ground in the segment. The big spend comes at the same time as Audi is working hard to reduce costs by $2.5 billion to maintain profitability, part of a larger push by VW to cut costs by $6.1 billion by 2017. More than a billion euros will go to new factories in Mexico and Brazil. Work begins on the Mexico plant next year, and when it comes on-line in 2016, Audi's Q5 successor will roll out of its warehouse doors; Audi has already announced it will hire 850 more workers next year in Mexico. When that's done, Mexico's production of German luxury cars will only trail that of Germany, China and the US. The company's Brazil plant will produce the A3 and S3 starting next year, and the brand figures luxury car buying there will triple by 2017.
