MT's Jessi Lang recounts her harrowing Autobahn R8 crash
Wed, Aug 6 2014Automotive enthusiasts know the name, face, voice and stories of Jessi Lang well. And if they don't, they should. The longtime Motor Trend video presenter and host of The J-Turn is a regular fixture on the automotive scene, and one of our favorite to watch. But a year ago, Jessi vanished from the scene. And we're sad to say she hasn't been kicking back enjoying umbrella drinks on the beach all this while. A year ago Lang went on a pilgrimage to Germany, driving a Porsche 911 GT3 on the Nurburgring and an Audi R8 modified by Abt on the Autobahn when the unthinkable happened. A car swerved out of its lane and into Jessi's path. A catastrophic collision ensued, and Lang was seriously injured. Jessi's been recovering from the multiple fractures and life-threatening lacerations ever since, and in her first appearance back on the net, has returned to tell her harrowing but courageous story. We wish her all the best on her long road to recovery, hope to see her back to her old self again soon, and invite you to watch the heart-rending story here.

Why it has a Bugatti Veyron and a Bentley Continental and a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG with sirens and light bars? Well, here's the reason. This video shows the fleet on display on the Emirate's roads and highways, while also reaching out to the people the police are meant to protect. It's an impressive display of machinery, to be sure. Alongside the Bentley, Bugatti and Mercedes, we spy a Ferrari FF, a Brabus G-Wagen, a BMW M6, a Nissan GT-R, an Audi R8 and a McLaren MP4-12C (although the latest Dubai Police car, the Lexus RC F, is absent). Audi moving ahead with Q1 crossover

Audi crossovers have been getting smaller with each passing year. What started with the Q7 has since downsized to the Q5, then to the Q3, and now reports coming in from Germany reaffirm speculation that Ingolstadt is preparing to go one more size down with a Q1.
The new pint-sized premium crossover would likely share the platform that underpins the Volkswagen Polo and Audi's own A1. Although the architecture has already been modified to accommodate all-wheel drive, Autobild suggests that the Q1 would be a front-drive-only affair, which might limit its appeal somewhat, but then most buyers probably wouldn't opt for all-wheel drive anyway.
