The whole chassis is made of the Audi "Spaceframe" - its made of only aluminum and composite materials. And even with a V8 engine and full time AWD, the car regularly gets 25-27MPG on the highway in warm weather, a true testament to the engineering that went in. And of course, this car doesn't rust! The level of engineering that went into this vehicle is astounding. Every little detail shows that a lot of thought and R&D went into its creation. From the 2" thick two-layer floor carpeting, to the innovative sound deadening materials used in the fender liners, to the exquisite use of materials throughout - no expense was spared. Even the Bose sound system is the best we've ever heard in a factory setup. The bass, mid and high-tones do not lose their clarity even when the volume is turned up to max. There is no crackling of the base, no mid-tone fade. Audi revisits Ahab on desert island paradise in new ad
Thu, 15 Aug 2013Well, call us Ishmael. Long ago (okay, about eight months), Audi debuted an ad during the NFL playoffs called "Ahab." It showed a salty tow truck driver and his years of catches. During that time, one particular car eluded and haunted him - a white Audi A6, whose Quattro all-wheel-drive system had no issues with the inclement conditions.
Now, there's a sequel that has Ahab, not dead and not missing any legs, on a tropical island. What he doesn't realize, though, is that the white whale (which, Audi, if you're going to associate an animal with a luxury sedan, a whale isn't the best choice) has followed him. Audi RS6 driven by former Stig Ben Collins egged on in 'The Duel'
Thu, 03 Oct 2013Apparently driving a 553-horsepower Audi RS6 Avant with carbon-fiber egg launchers that shoot paint-filled eggs is what Stigs do when they retire from Top Gear. And unfortunately for stuntman Damien Walters, he happens to be the target.
Walters - on foot with his paint-eggs and no carbon-fiber launcher - couldn't possibly escape from the Audi, let alone launch his own offensive, could he? You'll have to find out in the video below. And while we won't give away what happens, we'll say this video will definitely put a smile on your face, if you like all-wheel-drive drifting (which you should). Audi A8 facelift on the way
Thu, 23 May 2013The coming Audi A8 has already been spotted in camouflage on public roads at earthly elevations, and now our snappers have caught it at elevation in the Alps. The evolution will entail modified head- and taillights, different sculpting for the grille and a new bumper profile said to be more in line with the A6 S Line.
Inside, there might also be adjustments made to input controls like the gesture touchpad and the MMI infotainment system that include behind-the-scenes improvements like new Nvidia Tegra chips, but such revisions are expected to be minor. With the S8 and the TDI just having been launched, don't be surprised if engine outputs also remain the same. The prevailing sneaking suspicion is that we'll see the car unveiled at this year's Frankfurt Motor Show.
