I guess I need to let one of my many cars go.  I have owned this one for just over a year.  I have two other cars, a pickup truck and a sailboat.   I need to make room for some other projects.  I have a buy it now price on this of $5,500.  I'm open to taking offers, but the offer must be very clear and specific.
The mileage listed was as of the day of this listing.  I still drive the car 5-10 miles on a daily basis so mileage may be a little more by the time the listing closes.
The engine and drive train seem to be in great condition for a vehicle with this many miles on it.  I suppose that's a testament to German engineering.   It's loaded with all the options including a 6 CD CHANGER.  Driver and passenger seats are all heated (both front and back seats).    Pearl Blue is a very dark blue color.  I thought it was black the first time I saw it.
Things that are wrong with it.
I will be very happy to disclose any and everything I know of that is or could be a potential problem with this automobile.  However it is a USED vehicle and there is no warranty expressed or implied.
1. I'm not sure the AC is working.  I haven't had time to look at it.  It's winter here and frankly haven't missed having AC.  It may just need to be re-charged and it may need something much more substantial.  That's the only big issue I know of.
2. The drink holder that pops out of the dash panel is missing it's little trim piece.  It works fine.  Just doesn't look like it did when new.
3. Another drink holder in the back seat has the same issue as number 2 item.  Missing it's front trim piece.
4. CHECK ENGINE light is on.   This has been on since I bought it a year ago from a dealer.  There is a recall that will supposedly fix this.  I have no Audi dealers close to me so I haven't had it taken care of.  I guess it's something to do with the catalytic converter sensor.  I can find more info on that if you need it.  It's a free fix if you can get it to an Audi dealer.
5. The passenger side mirror has had some repairs done to it.  Looks like it his something or was hit by something.  It's been that way since I bought it.
6. The alarm system works great.  Except that it seems to go off if you leave the windows down a little.  If the window are up it doesn't go off.  Not sure what that's all about.
7. At the moment that battery is dead in one of the key fobs.  But it comes with two.

As mentioned. This is a used car with 143 Plus thousand miles on it.  It's not a new car, but it would certainly make someone a good safe car.
The AWD is awesome.  I will never own another car without AWD period.  I can't count the number of times I've been driving past all kinds of people sliding off due to heavy rain snow and ice and I didn't notice a thing.
Any questions at all, please write.
Thanks for bidding!

Former Audi chief designer Wolfgang Egger leaves Italdesign

Sat, Dec 27 2014

The latest word from the international community of automotive designers has it that Wolfgang Egger is leaving Italdesign, but just where the accomplished designer will land next and who will take his place remain big question marks. Egger is a designer who has bounced back and forth between Italy and Germany over the course of his career. He was born in Germany but studied in Milan. He began his career at Alfa Romeo in 1989 and was named its chief designer by 1993 before being head-hunted by the Volkswagen Group in 1998 to head up the design department at Seat. A few years later he went returned to Italy to run the Lancia design department, and was subsequently renamed to the same post at Alfa Romeo. In 2007 he went back to his native Germany to head up the Audi design office, over which he assumed complete responsibility by 2012, but left Audi in 2013 to run Italdesign. For those unfamiliar, Italdesign is the studio founded by Giorgetto Giugiaro (pictured at left next to Egger) back in 1968 but which, along with many other Italian design houses, fell on hard times in recent years. The Volkswagen Group swooped in to rescue the troubled studio in 2010, turning it into something of an in-house advanced design department to provide an alternative perspective on the direction in which the group and its various brands could take their respective designs moving forward. With Egger now leaving its helm, Italdesign and its German parent company will need to find his replacement, and we're sure they'll announce one in due course. The bigger question on our minds, however, is where Egger himself will head next. Given the path his career has taken to date, we wouldn't be surprised to see him land elsewhere in the Volkswagen Group or find a new role in the expanding Fiat Chrysler Automobiles empire. Then again, Egger could find it time to open an entirely new chapter. Watch this space. Audi celebrates diesel milestone with triple-charged RS5 TDI concept

Thu, 29 May 2014

Diesels are typically slower than their gasoline counterparts, but leave it to Audi to turn that notion on its head. After dominating Le Mans and the international endurance racing scene under diesel power for the better part of a decade, the German automaker toyed with the idea of an oil-burning R8 for the road and ultimately made its first performance crossover a diesel. It's made the letters TDI a battle cry, and now it's yelling even louder with the RS5 TDI concept.
Set to be unveiled in a couple of days at the Leipzig Auto Show to celebrate 25 years of the TDI engine, the concept ditches the gasoline-burning 4.2-liter V8 in the production RS5 in favor of a 3.0-liter V6 twin-turbo-diesel with an electric supercharger added on to combat turbo lag. Output comes in at 385 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque, which means that while it has 65 fewer horses than the gasoline model, it packs a staggering 236 lb-ft more torque.
The result of the triple-charged madness is a 0-62 time around four seconds flat, trumping the 4.6 seconds for the road-going model. Top speed, of course, is electronically limited to 155 miles per hour, which is a bit of a shame because we bet it'd be a kick to pass a Porsche on the Autobahn in a diesel, now wouldn't it?

Which would you rather have, Audi's RS5 or Mercedes' C63 AMG 507?

Wed, 26 Feb 2014

If you're in the market for a German sports coupe with a naturally aspirated V8, run, don't walk, to your nearest dealer because they are going to be gone very soon. European fuel economy and emissions rules have conspired to force automakers into seeking forced-induction mills. Motor Trend personality Jonny Lieberman is hosting the retirement party in the latest Head 2 Head video, where he takes on the 2014 Audi RS5 and 2014 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Edition 507 to decide which is the ultimate Teutonic V8.
To make the decision harder, Lieberman challenges the duo on the first soaking wet roads that Southern California has seen in ages. It forces the coupes to confront some of the actual weather that the rest of the country encounters regularly and serves to even the playing field somewhat between the charismatic rear-drive Mercedes-Benz and the all-wheel drive Audi.
It really is the end of an era for these coupes. The next Audi RS4 is rumored to switch to a twin-turbo V6, and while Mercedes won't officially admit it, the next C-Class AMG will likely switch to a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8. And we already know the next BMW M3/M4 will rely on a 425-horsepower, 3.0-liter inline-six. Let's enjoy these eight-cylinder German giants while we can, and scroll down to watch the video.
