The timing belt and water pump were replaced at 112,469 miles. Around 115,000 miles the check engine light turned on. Dealer diagnosed a timing issue and we had the timing adjusted by a third party mechanic (he confirmed the timing was off and corrected it), however the check engine light is still on, the engine runs poorly, and the check engine light begins to flash after engine has been running for 1-5 minutes. Mechanic said the valve timing actuators are sticking and would need to be replaced. Since we do not need this car, we decided not to repair and to sell "as is".

Other (less serious) mechanical issues:
  • The "Dynamic headlight dimmer control not functioning" warning is also on. Both headlights still work, however the buyer may need to make this repair also.
  • The car has been burning around a quart of oil between oil changes. 5-quarts of synthetic oil will be included with the car.

Cosmetic Condition

Both inside and out - the car is in great condition for its age.

Exterior:
There is a small crack on the bumper and a couple scratches and scuff marks on the paint. 

Interior:
The leather on the driver side's seat is cracked slightly. Besides this cosmetic flaw, the power / heated seats work great. The felt lining below the center console is stained from coffee.


Car is being sold as is. The buyer is responsible for shipping / towing from Buffalo, NY (the car should not be driven due to the engine issue described above).

24 Hours of Le Mans an on-and-off love affair

There was little usual about this year's 24 Hours of Le Mans - intermittent rain in the weeks before the race meant cars didn't get on track as much as they wanted, and intermittent rain during the race meant cars went off track a lot more than they wanted. The race started with a wet track, and one of the records broken because of the random downpours was the number of times the safety car led the field - 11 times this year - although the record of two hours and 53 minutes of lapping behind the safety car, set in 2011, was not eclipsed.
None of that served to dampen the action. With little more than an hour left in the race there were cars still only a few seconds apart fighting for position, leads still changing because of pit stops and everyone drafting anyone they could.
Things didn't go the usual way up front, either - well, not exactly...

Match up a hot hatch with a supercar of the same vintage, and we'll tell you who will win every time. It's easy, really, as the supercar invariably features a more advanced suspension, stickier tires and most importantly, more power. What if the hot hatch is race prepped, though?
In that particular case, all bets are off. A circuit-tuned suspension, a stripped-down cabin, an ultra-quick sequential transmission and the greatest equalizer of them all, slick tires, are all that's needed to turn the typical hot hatch into a proper dragon slayer.
Perhaps seeking to prove this, Evo has put together an interesting head-to-head between the Audi R8 V10 and a race-prepared Renault Clio Cup. Host Dickie Meaden takes us through each car, highlighting the bits and bobs on both sides which should make this a tight competition. And boy, is this one tight.

There have been a few, seemingly half-hearted, attempts at reinventing the owner's manual - that thick stack of bone-dry information that you only look at if you're well and truly stumped. Hyundai tried swapping in iPads with the Equus, which didn't really take, while Chrysler switched its owner's manuals to digital form in 2010. Chrysler subsidiary Dodge even released a smart phone app that included all the info contained in the paper manual.
Audi, though, may have taken things to their logical conclusion - augmented reality. While it'll likely be more practical once Google Glass and other wearable tech is adopted on a wide scale, augmented reality allows users to project information on scenes, usually through a phones camera, which is how Audi does it.
Called eKurzinfo, the app looks through your phones camera to identify and explain different parts of the car. According to Metaio, the app's developer, the app recognizes 300 different parts of the car. Our sister site, Engadget, provides the best example of the app's abilities - if you point it at the engine temperature gauge, the app tells you what the gauge measures, and if the reading is too high, eKurzinfo will even show you where to find the coolant tank.
