Exceptionally clean for a car of this year. Bought her for my wife in 2001.  It had been an Audi executive program car and had 24,000 miles after its first year.  Since then it has mostly been a grocery getter and has always been kept in a heated garage with floor drains so she gets cleaned off after exposure to bad weather.  Gentle, non smoking driver although a few curbs have been kissed when parking by feel :-)  Wheels are straight and true with no high speed vibration.

I just moved her up into an A6 so this one is up for sale at no reserve.

Fully loaded with everything offered at the time including auto Tiptronic Sport transmission, xenon headlights, moonroof, one touch windows, keyless entry, very nice Bose Stereo with lots of speakers. Been a terrific car with no problems, just routine maintenance.  Did the timing belt and water pump a few years back at 95,000 miles.  Been maintained with an open check book.  Recent brakes and tires.  With Quattro all wheel drive you can drive with confidence no matter what mother nature throws at you.  And Audi's are dipped in galvanization at the factory so there is not a spot that I can see, top or bottom.

Very clean exterior with only minor parking lot dings, light scratches and some curb rash.  Overall deep and shiny paint.  Notice the water beading up after washing.  Glass and mirrors are all mint.  Seats are firm and supportive and all adjusting functions work with both front seats heated and fully electric including lumbar.  The drivers seat bottom does have a seam that is slightly separated.  The center arm rest has a leather cover that is pulling away on the passenger side.  The pixels in the computer info center are pretty much gone.  There is a service on ebay that will rebuild that if it is a concern.  Front and side airbags.  Dash warning lights illuminate with the key on and promptly go out when started as shown in the pictures.  Back seats fold down for extra storage and there is a ski sack if you are into hitting the slopes.

On May 3, 2013 I treated her to a synthetic oil change and annual State Inspection just to be sure there were not going to be any problems for you, the buyer.  It was recommended that the front brake hoses and some front suspension parts be replaced.  I authorized all recommendations to the tune of $825.  So she is turn key and ready to roll.

Clean and clear title in hand for an easy transaction.  Fly in and drive home any distance with confidence.  And always with me, no deal is final till you see the car and are happy with it.

Best bidder wins so please only bid if you have the funds in hand.

2013 Audi RS6 Avant hauls ass and then some

Mon, 04 Mar 2013

Holy moly. Despite the fact that Audi first released details on its 2013 RS6 Avant back in December, we're still just as smitten with it now as we were a couple months ago. And why wouldn't we be? This stunning piece of forbidden fruit combines two of our favorite things: fast Audis and useful wagons.
The meat and potatoes behind the RS6 Avant is its twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8, tuned to crank out 560 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. Mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, the all-wheel-drive wagon can scoot to 60 miles per hour in just 3.9 seconds, on its way to a top speed of 155 mph. Opting for the Dynamic package ups that v-max to 174 mph, and selecting the Dynamic Plus pack increases that even further to 190 mph.
This RS6 Avant certainly looks the part of an extreme ass-hauler, fitted with the usual RS-spec gaping air intakes, 21-inch wheels, sport exhaust and carbon fiber ceramic brakes. Combine all that goodness with dynamic ride control, an adaptive air suspension and torque-vectoring Quattro all-wheel drive, and we have no doubt that this thing will scare off every other station wagon in the parking lot. (Well, except maybe that Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG. Woof.)

The next-generation wearable will be your car

Fri, Jan 8 2016

This year's CES has had a heavy emphasis on the class of device known as the "wearable" – think about the Apple Watch, or Fitbit, if that's helpful. These devices usually piggyback off of a smartphone's hardware or some other data connection and utilize various onboard sensors and feedback devices to interact with the wearer. In the case of the Fitbit, it's health tracking through sensors that monitor your pulse and movement; for the Apple Watch and similar devices, it's all that and some more. Manufacturers seem to be developing a consensus that vehicles should be taking on some of a wearable's functionality. As evidenced by Volvo's newly announced tie-up with the Microsoft Band 2 fitness tracking wearable, car manufacturers are starting to explore how wearable devices will help drivers. The On Call app brings voice commands, spoken into the Band 2, into the mix. It'll allow you to pass an address from your smartphone's agenda right to your Volvo's nav system, or to preheat your car. Eventually, Volvo would like your car to learn things about your routines, and communicate back to you – or even, improvise to help you wake up earlier to avoid that traffic that might make you late. Do you need to buy a device, like the $249 Band 2, and always wear it to have these sorts of interactions with your car? Despite the emphasis on wearables, CES 2016 has also given us a glimmer of a vehicle future that cuts out the wearable middleman entirely. Take Audi's new Fit Driver project. The goal is to reduce driver stress levels, prevent driver fatigue, and provide a relaxing interior environment by adjusting cabin elements like seat massage, climate control, and even the interior lighting. While it focuses on a wearable device to monitor heart rate and skin temperature, the Audi itself will use on-board sensors to examine driving style and breathing rate as well as external conditions – the weather, traffic, that sort of thing. Could the seats measure skin temperature? Could the seatbelt measure heart rate? Seems like Audi might not need the wearable at all – the car's already doing most of the work. Whether there's a device on a driver's wrist or not, manufacturers seem to be developing a consensus that vehicles should be taking on some of a wearable's functionality.

Mercedes considering Audi Allroad rival

Fri, Jun 19 2015

The Audi Allroad is something of an anomaly in the automotive world. Its competitors are limited to the recently released Volvo V60 Cross Country and perhaps the far cheaper Subaru Outback. The lifted premium wagon hasn't exactly done great for Audi, only selling a few hundred examples each month. Its best sales year was 2013, and even then, only 5,300 left US showrooms. Despite these limited prospects, word from Australia is that Mercedes-Benz is looking at launching its own competitor to the Allroad. "We are looking at every single niche, so we are studying this [Allroad] at the moment, but it is not confirmed," Matthias Luhrs, VP of sales and a member of the product management at MB, told Motoring.com.au. "We are looking obviously at C-Class and E-Class, but no confirmation at the moment." Fortunately, Luhrs recognizes that the Allroad isn't exactly a smash in the US. "In the US, no matter how long, short, high ... they don't like station wagons," Luhrs said, while adding that the Allroad concept is "developing quite successfully" in Italy and southern Europe. And for those hoping for a lifted C- or E-Class sedan, Luhrs also put the kibosh on that, saying, "We are not studying that." So what does this tell us? Well, it's still far from a sure thing that Mercedes will launch a lifted C-Class or E-Class Estate. And even if the company does go ahead with it, like the rest of the brand's long roofs (E-Class aside), don't expect to see it on US roads.
