The car runs and drives. The previous owner had rear ended someone causing the damage that can be seen to the front end of the vehicle. I purchased the car with the intentions of repairing it for my wife. Now we are having to deal with courts in a custody battle with her ex to assure the safety and well being of our daughter so, the car must go.

As I said, the car runs and drives well. The motor mounts could use replacing and I was going to go ahead and do all the maintenance, such as new belts and fluids, to assure its all done and up to standard as I have no idea the last time anything was performed. I would recommend the same to the new owner.

The brakes have about half their life remaining.  Three of the four tires need to be replaced. The spare is a full sized, matching wheel spare but, the tire on it was obviously a match for the other three and didn't survive. I would assume the only time worth keeping was the spare to begin with. So, a new set of tires is in order.

The interior is clean and everything works properly but there are some things on the dash that need to be replaced. For example, the ash tray and little storage tray are broken and need to be replaced. The glove box hinges are broken. Audi has a repair kit for this issue and it is a known problem. The seat bottoms on the front seat have cracks and tears. I was going to put on seat covers or have them repaired. I hadn't decided yet. Beyond that, its pretty nice inside.

The body is fairly straight. The driver's side rear door does have a dent, which can be seen in the pictures, that I am pretty sure can be popped out if you pull the door panel and push on it from the inside. There isn't a crease so it should straighten out fairly well. Some heat and some massaging and it should look pretty smooth.

The hood is obviously damaged. I was going to hammer it as straight as possible, smooth it over with filler and sanding, and them prime it only as needed to protect it and then wrap it in carbon fiber wrap. I have already purchased the wrap.

The grills, all four, need to be replaced. There are some really nice after-market grills that I was going to purchase that would look really sharp.

The mounting tabs for the headlights were cracked so the headlight housings need to be replaced. I was going to take this opportunity to upgrade to HID lighting. If you prefer to go cheaper you can just replace the housings and stay with the projectors which are plenty bright.

The upper radiator support does need to be replaced as well as the fan / shroud assembly. The a/c condenser was punctured in the accident and needs to be replaced and the system will need to be recharged.

This is all that I can think of at the moment. I am trying to be as up front and forward as possible. I figured this is a great opportunity to obtain a really nice car at a fraction of the price. Plus, you get to put your personal touches on it as you build it.

Every vehicle we purchase, this is how I go about it and we come out ahead every time. We buy it needing repairs, such as this Audi A4, repair it, have the title converted back to a blue title, drive it for a few years, and then sell it for a profit. Even when we have had a car totaled in a hail storm, which has happened twice now, we have received more than we paid for it or had it all together.

If you have any questions or would like to see any additional pictures please let me know.

First official Audi R8 photo leaks

Thu, Feb 26 2015

The next-gen Audi R8 makes its grand debut in a just a few days at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. However, leaks aren't uncommon for such a highly anticipated model, and it appears that the first official shot of the future supercar is now online. Autoblog en Espanol claims this is the first leaked factory photo showing the new Audi R8 completely undisguised. The single image depicts the supercar from the front, and it looks a lot like both Audi's own official teaser and the previous blurry image from Instagram. Based on this picture, the German designers thickened the outline around the grille at the front and added vertical slats at each corner. They also removed the gentle curve in the headlights in favor of a completely angular look. While the side blades were one of the major styling features of the original, their appearance has been toned down by removing the vertical, contrasting strip running up the body. Though the exterior design seems to evolve the R8 slightly, there are some big changes for the powertrain. Audi is ditching the V8 for the latest model and opting for two tunes of the 5.2-liter V10. The standard version gets 540 horsepower, and the Plus pushes output up to 610 hp. The top trim can reportedly hit 60 miles per hour in 3.2 seconds and reach a top speed of 205 mph. Although, there are already the rumors of other variants, including a turbo V6, coming later. Related Video:

Next Audi Q7 to debut with electric turbocharger?

Sun, 22 Jun 2014

For years, the concept of an electric turbocharger was essentially a joke sold on eBay to boost power in your slammed Civic, but in the last five years it has moved from an idea on a piece of paper to a feasible reality. Audi has already toyed with a showcase of the cutting-edge tech in road cars with the RS5 TDI concept. Now, reports suggest an electric turbo may make it to the streets as soon as next year in the next-gen Q7 (spy shot pictured above).
"I can confirm we are working on the development of the e-boost definitely," said Ulrich Weiss, Audi's diesel engine boss, to Australia-based Drive. He didn't give an exact timeframe but hinted at sometime next year, possibly in the Q7. He also suggested the chance of an RS-branded diesel model in the vein of the RS5 TDI concept on the horizon, as well.
This tech isn't entirely new for the folks in Ingolstadt. Audi's R18 endurance racer already uses such a system to capture waste heat from the engine, converting it to electric power to further power the hybrid car. The RS5 TDI concept employs a similar idea with a 3.0-liter, twin-turbocharged V6 with an electric supercharger to make up for the turbo lag. It's able to pump out 385 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque and allegedly sprint to 62 miles per hour in four seconds.

VW makes $23K on every Porsche sold, more than Bentley or Lamborghini

Fri, 14 Mar 2014

It's a good time to be in the luxury car business. In Volkswagen Group's financial report for the 2013 fiscal year, it is revealed that that Porsche enjoyed an operating margin of 18 percent. That means the Stuttgart brand made on average about $23,200 per car sold, according to BusinessWeek. Bentley wasn't far behind, and Audi (which was combined with Lamborghini) posted a 10.1 percent margin. This compares to only around 2.9 percent for the Volkswagen brand.
"Luxury brands are on fire," said Dave Sullivan, an industry analyst at AutoPacific. He said that the average profit margin is between six and eight percent. Brands like Porsche and Bentley have the benefit of competing in rarefied markets. Buyers looking at one their vehicles have fewer models to shop against and don't care as much about price. They can also charge more for options, which further boosts income, according to BusinessWeek.
In a way, we should be more impressed by the continued success from Audi. Its models generally have direct competitors in every segment from the other premium automakers. Plus, their buyers aren't the captains of industry who are shopping for a Bentley. Still, the Four Rings is leading rivals in sales so far this year.
