Always garaged 2008 Audi A3 with 6 speed manual transmission.  The car has received all scheduled maintenance at Audi dealerships either in Fort Worth, TX or Colorado Springs, CO.  Feel free to call either dealership to check on maintenance records.  There has been absolutely no issues with the car.  The only cosmetic issue is a small, dime sized dent on the left rear panel, which could be fixed for about $200.  High performance, low profile tires have about 50% tread remaining.  All the glass, including the 100% glass roof, is in perfect condition.  The car does not include navigation, AWD, or the cold weather package.  Other than those items, it's totally loaded.

This vehicle is rarely driven, maybe 1-2 times per week.  It's my second car and I'm selling because it needs to be driven, not sitting in a garage. Private party KBB value in "very good" condition is $17,600.  You'd pay $19,500 if you were buying from a dealership and I'd only get about $16,900 trade-in value, so I'm hoping we can work a deal outside of a dealership.

I have the car listed locally so I might need to end the auction early if it sells.  I had this car listed previously and had to pull down the auction due to a listing error; I had copied a 2011 version of this car and that ad had "premium plus" package in the description.  Audi didn't even have that package in 2008, so that was misleading and incorrect information.

The car is paid off and I have title in hand and ready to go.

The two main packages are:

S-Line Package ($2,500 upgrade) includes:
Front and rear other tires with 225 mm tire width, 45% tire profile and Y tire rating; Alternate suspension; Luxury trim alloy & leather on gearknob and alloy on doors; Leather covered multi-function steering wheel; Remote audio controls; Roof spoiler; Front fog lights; Leather seat upholstery with additional vinyl; Sports driver and passenger seat; Illuminated driver and passenger vanity mirror; Illumination package; S line badging; A/C vents and radio button in alloy; Computer with average speed, average fuel consumption, instantaneous fuel consumption and range for remaining fuel

Titanium Package ($1,500 upgrade) includes:
  Piano black trim; Black styling grille and window trim; Front and rear alloy wheels with 18 inch rim diam; Front and rear other tires with 225 mm tire width and 40% tire profile; Black headliner;

VW admits 430,000 2016 models have implausible CO2 ratings

Mon, Nov 16 2015

Volkswagen finally explained more details about its CO2 rating scandal in Europe and admitted that 430,046 of the estimated 800,000 affected vehicles with "implausible" figures came from the 2016 model year. They included some from Audi, Seat, Skoda, VW, and VW Commercial Vehicles, according to the automaker's list (as a PDF). The problem mostly impacts diesel engines, but the inventory also shows some gasoline mills. VW will next determine the accurate CO2 emissions for these vehicles, and the German Federal Vehicle and Transport Authority will supervise that process to ensure the data's veracity. The automaker will also launch websites in Europe to let owners enter their model's VIN to check whether it's affected. Because governments there often link vehicle taxes and CO2 production, the company promises to work with regulators in each country to cover any fees that result from the inaccurate figures. VW announced the CO2 scandal earlier in November and estimated the equivalent of $2.2 billion to fix it at the time. A later report claimed that a group of engineers were responsible for fabricating the emissions data. They allegedly couldn't meet reduction goals from Martin Winterkorn, and between 2013 and this spring the workers did things like overinflate the tires during testing to achieve the desired results. VW is also closer to a fix in the diesel emissions scandal. According to an anonymous insider to Bloomberg, the company has a repair for the 1.6-liter engine that's reportedly neither very complex nor expensive. German regulators would still need to approve the solution before it could roll out to owners. Next step in clarifying the CO2 issue Affected Volkswagen Group models of the current model year have been identified Customers being informed via website Discussions with the authorities have begun The Volkswagen Group reports that the vehicles of the 2016 model year affected by the CO2 issue have been identified. There is thus now clarity about the new vehicles of the current model year out in the marketplace. On 3 November 2015, the Group had already reported that irregularities may have arisen in determining the CO2 figures for type approval of around 800,000 vehicles. This was identified during its own currently ongoing investigations and had been made public. The internal investigations into the current vehicles of the 2016 model year provide results for narrowing down the actually affected vehicles with implausible CO2 figures.

Audi builds 5-millionth vehicle with Quattro

Mon, 25 Feb 2013

Quattro, the trademark name Audi has put on its all-wheel-drive system engineered for passenger vehicles, recently celebrated its five-millionth installation. The driveline has been offered in more than 140 different vehicles since its introduction more than three decades ago.
The all-wheel-drive technology made its world debut at the 1980 International Geneva Motor Show, beneath the floorpan of the Quattro Coupé, a low-volume two-door. It didn't take consumers long to embrace Audi's innovative approach. While most four-wheel-drive systems at that time utilized heavy transfer cases or second cardan shafts, Quattro was virtually tension-free, light, compact and efficient. Most importantly, enthusiasts found it was especially suitable for sports cars.
Today, the automaker offers Quattro on its full line of passenger vehicles and it is unquestionably successful (the technology enjoyed a 43 percent take rate in 2012). On models with transverse-mounted engines (A3 and TT), Audi uses an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch with hydraulic actuator. Under normal conditions, the clutch sends power almost exclusively to the front wheels (if wheel slippage occurs, up to 100 percent of the torque may be sent to the rear). Vehicles with transverse-mounted engines (A4, A5, Q5, etc...) use a self-locking center differential sending 40 percent of the engine torque to the front axle and 60 percent to the rear under normal conditions (it is able to send the majority of the power to the axle with better traction when needed). The highest-performing Quattro systems use torque vectoring to further improve cornering grip and speeds.

VW says it has sold over 100,000 TDI diesels in America this year

Thu, 26 Dec 2013

Volkswagen Group of America has lit oil-burning fireworks to celebrate the sales of more than 100,000 TDI Clean Diesel vehicles in the US between its VW and Audi brands this year. According to VW, that means it is responsible for more than 75 percent of diesel-engined cars and SUVs sold here - perhaps not surprising when the two brands offer a total of 12 diesel models.
What might be surprising is that the number of diesels isn't far off the estimated sales of 90,000 battery electric vehicles and PHEVs, with 15,000 of those accounted for by the Tesla Model S, another 12,000 or so being the Toyota Prius PHEV.
VW's keen to play up the ease of making diesel part of your life, stressing that it doesn't need any change to the refueling infrastructure and that "this is a technology delivering real answers to society's concerns about fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions without compromises."
