2006 Audi A3 Base Hatchback 4-door 2.0l on 2040-cars
Kingsport, Tennessee, United States
I am selling my 2006 A3 with 124xxx miles and this is my daily driver. For those that would like to know why I'm selling, I am in need of something larger and four wheel drive. Mostly highway miles and the expensive maintenance has been recently completed and all performed by Harper Audi of Knoxville, TN: timing belt, water pump, thermostat, serpentine belt, by pass valve, lifters, cam, high pressure fuel pump, intake flap motor, associated seals, and new ignition coils. The car has hi/lo xenons, is a 6spd manual, and is front wheel drive. Its runs great and as the dealer specified, it is up to manufacturer specifications. Very fun to drive and gets about 31-33 mpg. New tires about 20 miles ago on 2-11-14. I'm not sure if the car is considered a premium or sport model as my insurance company classified it as both, but it has black heated leather, heated power mirrors (cold weather package), and audi concert sound system with factor sub. The driver seat is worn on the side closest to the door and the miles are still adding as I said above, it is my daily driver. Before I bought the car it was involved in a minor accident to the front on the passenger side, this involved a small animal. I had the bumper completely replaced by a professional body shop ,paint matches as it was purchased from Audi (that was roughly 2 years ago). Has had regular oil changes with Castrol full synthetic oil, which is due to be changed in about 1000 miles. It also has a newer air filter (changed about 4-5k miles ago). If any questions, please don't hesitate. I will require a $500 deposit (non-refundable) immediately and rest is due at time of pick up within 7 days. This car is also listed locally, that being said I reserve the right to pull the plug on the ebay add. Hoping for $10'000 obo. Will seriously consider all reasonable offers. Thanks for looking!

Audi celebrates diesel milestone with triple-charged RS5 TDI concept
Thu, 29 May 2014Diesels are typically slower than their gasoline counterparts, but leave it to Audi to turn that notion on its head. After dominating Le Mans and the international endurance racing scene under diesel power for the better part of a decade, the German automaker toyed with the idea of an oil-burning R8 for the road and ultimately made its first performance crossover a diesel. It's made the letters TDI a battle cry, and now it's yelling even louder with the RS5 TDI concept.
Set to be unveiled in a couple of days at the Leipzig Auto Show to celebrate 25 years of the TDI engine, the concept ditches the gasoline-burning 4.2-liter V8 in the production RS5 in favor of a 3.0-liter V6 twin-turbo-diesel with an electric supercharger added on to combat turbo lag. Output comes in at 385 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque, which means that while it has 65 fewer horses than the gasoline model, it packs a staggering 236 lb-ft more torque.
The result of the triple-charged madness is a 0-62 time around four seconds flat, trumping the 4.6 seconds for the road-going model. Top speed, of course, is electronically limited to 155 miles per hour, which is a bit of a shame because we bet it'd be a kick to pass a Porsche on the Autobahn in a diesel, now wouldn't it?
GRAND-AM, IMSA announce deal to bring DTM racing to US
Fri, 29 Mar 2013It won't be until 2015 at the earliest, but the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA), Grand-Am and the Internationale Tourenwagen-Rennen have agreed to a licensing and cooperation deal that could bring a version of Germany's DTM series to the US.
When the American Le Mans Series and Grand-Am are officially combined next year, the resulting body will be called United SportsCar Racing (USCR). IMSA will be the sanctioning body for that series, and DTM races could be run as support events. It was also suggested by an ALMS chief that DTM races could be standalone or join NASCAR and IndyCar weekends.
With the so-called DTM America finally agreed to, there is now a way for manufacturers to run the same DTM-type cars in Europe, the US and Japan - last year Japan's Super GT series agreed to adopt "the basic technical regulations" of DTM for the GT500 class, the top class in the series. That already puts six manufacturers in play: Mercedes-Benz, Audi and BMW that run in Germany's DTM and Honda, Nissan and Lexus that run in Super GT. The DTM oversight body has invited American brands to Germany for the opening round of the 2013 season, and will begin actively courting their participation in the US series. Check out the press release from Audi with comments on the deal below.
Subaru WRX STI vs. Audi S3 in compact AWD dustup
Wed, 23 Jul 2014It's not every day that a Subaru and an Audi can be reasonably compared head-to-head; the two brands tend not to compete directly in their respective segments. However, the latest WRX STI and the S3 Sedan offer the perfect chance to find out if the working-class Scooby can beat its upper-crust competitor.
The UK's Auto Express gets behind the wheel of these two all-wheel drive performance sedans, or saloons as the Brits call them. Across the pond, both of them are rated at an identical 296 horsepower, but the Subaru edges out the Four Rings on torque. Like in the US, British buyers have to pay a little more to get the Audi, but it comes with a nicer interior and more brand cachet, if that means anything to you.
The video starts out with a fairly standard road test comparing the two of them back-to-back - all fairly subjective. But then Auto Express takes the trip to the drag strip, and the results there are much more conclusive. There's a definite winner when they cross the line, but you have to scroll down to see which of these turbocharged models with rallying heritage wins out.
