1990 Audi 90 20v Quattro Very rare Audi that was only made with this engine in 1990 and 1991. It was offered in both a coupe and a sedan. During those two years Audi built around 1700 coupes and less than 1000 sedans. They came with tons of features that were pretty far ahead of the times back then. It was equipped with power everything, heated seats, automatic climate control, a power moonroof, drivers airbag, headligh washers, integrated ski bag, a factory rear spoiler, BBS alloy wheels and with things that are still unheard for today like an ABS kill switch and a locking rear differential. Here is an article that Automobile Magazine did on this car under its collectible classics section a few years ago. automobilemag.com/features/collectible_classic/1011_1990_1991_audi_90_quattro_20v I had been looking for one of these for quite some time in unmodified condition. It was a 2 owner car that was originally purchased in Roanoke Virginia (autocheck is counting title events from when the second owner moved from Virginia to North Carolina as a new owner). I found it when the second owners son convinced his mother to sell it and get it out of their yard where it had been sitting for a while. Due to it sitting it had some issues and I have addressed nearly all of them and have over $2000 worth of receipts dated since October to prove it!! It is now in great running condition. The engine is strong and has great compression and the Quattro all wheel drive works great (check out the snow pic)!! The interior is also in great shape with no rips or tears in the seats, and no major stains, the power windows and locks are all working as well Here is a partial list of parts and maintenance items that I have completed (again I have receipts for all of this no gimmicks here). I have used only oem or oem spec parts and have not modified the car in anyway, except for the radio (I wanted something with an aux input and found the most factory looking radio I could). I still have the factory radio and it will be included. Front and rear struts Front and rear strut mounts and boots 4 new tires 2 Front wheel bearings Front breaks Rear Rotors Rear Breaks Tie Rod assemblies (inner and outter ends) Steering rack boot Front ball joints Rear ball joints Drivers side Window regulator Front control arm bushings (4 total) Rear control arm bushings (4 total) Front sway bar links Thermostat Oil change Several new switches Radio/rear speakers Headlights Custom exhaust repair Power steering hose Hydraulic fluid Full size matching BBS alloy wheel as a spare So onto some things I haven't completed. It still needs a good detail inside and out. The headliner isn't sagging but has some stains and was cut along the side when the previous owner had a phone installed (yes a car phone not a cell phone!!). The interior dome light isn't working could just be bulbs but I haven't played with it. There are some minor body work issues that you may want to fix (minor dents) they didn't bother me but they are there (luckily the white paint doesn't show much). The drivers side seat heater is not working, the passenger side works great but I haven't looked into the drivers side yet. I did pick up a new switch for it but I haven't replaced it yet and I'm not sure that's the problem. The rear differential is a little wet it looks like the axle seals are seeping a little but I have checked the fluid and the level is good so I haven't touched that yet either. Germanautoparts website sells the seal kit for $80. The AC is not working and would need converted to r134a. The only other thing I can think of is the fog lights, one of them has a shattered lens and I haven't been able to find a replacement. The other one is in good shape but I had to pull it out to pass Virginia inspection. I know that sounds like a lot but I am just don't want there to be any surprises! As you can see in the pictures I have two keys, the original owners manual, and a Bentley repair manual. I also have some receipts from the previous owner that include a $3000 service from 2007. Some spare switches for the interior, the factory radio and a few other spare parts that will be included with the car. So why am I getting rid of it after all this hard work and money invested? I unfortunately can't afford a project car at this point and even though its in great shape now it is still a 24 year old car and anything can happen so I have decided to move on. Feel free to call, text or email me with any questions. Chuck 724-880-9525 |

2017 Audi S5 First Drive
Tue, Jun 21 2016Let's start with the obvious elephant in the room: The new 2017 Audi S5 looks mostly like the model it replaces. Is that a bad thing? We headed to Portugal to test out the S5 on that country's serpentine back roads, and to see if there's something more substantive behind its evolved exterior. Only compared to the decidedly more evocative Mercedes-AMG C43 Coupe does the svelte S5 come across as a little frumpy. It takes parking the new S5 next to the old one to spot the details. A tweaked profile. A more pronounced belt line. A power-dome hood. Narrower A-pillars. The new S5 is different, but the same, in that grand Audi tradition. Underhood, the differences are again evolutionary. The original S5 featured a 4.2-liter, naturally aspirated V8. A few years back, that was replaced by a supercharged 3.0-liter V6, which in turn has been supplanted in the 2017 S5 by a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6. The turbo, a twin-scroll unit nestled between the cylinder banks, helps the direct-injection engine make a healthy 354 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. That power, 21 hp and 44 lb-ft more than its predecessor, is channelled through Quattro all-wheel drive. The newly developed V6 mates exclusively to a conventional eight-speed automatic, which seems like a step backward. Last year's S5 offered either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. We pressed Audi and got the answer we expected: Demand for the stick was nonexistent outside the United States (go America!) and the dual-clutch couldn't handle the 44 pound-foot increase in torque. Curiously, the A5 on which the S5 is based trades last year's eight-speed autobox for a seven-speed dual-clutch. It sounds like someone at Audi put the wrong transmission in each car, but in reality the S5's torquey engine is well-suited to the refined eight-speed. Kick the throttle, get into boost, and all four drive wheels scrabble for traction, especially on the wet pavement we encountered outside of Porto, Portugal. Punch the S5 to pass on a tight two-lane road and the sport exhaust roars with the kind of guttural growl we want to hear in a sporty coupe. It positively scoots. Though its Volkswagen MLB 2 platform is new, the S5 rides and handles like a more refined version of its predecessor. Considerably less road rumble penetrates the cabin, and the S5 strikes a pleasant balance between grand-touring plush and sports-car firm.
Audi kills off its 420-hp four-cylinder engine project
Fri, Sep 23 2016Audi's supercar-slapping, fire-breathing four-cylinder concept engine will remain just that, with Autoblog confirming that it has been internally killed off. Speaking at the launch of the TT RS, the engineering boss of Audi's Quattro GmbH division, Stephan Reil, said the Volkswagen Group had stopped all development of the 420-horsepower, 2.0-liter four it showed in the 2014 TT Quattro Sport Concept car (above). Despite previous assurances that Quattro had roles for both the EA888-based engine and Audi's wildly charismatic 2.5-liter, five-cylinder motor, post-Dieselgate reality has killed the smaller engine. "The 400-horsepower EA888 engine is dead," Reil said. The EA888 engine was conceived and developed by the same man behind AMG's powerhouse 2.0-liter four. Friedrich Eichler left AMG to become the Volkswagen Group's gasoline engine development go-to guy, and he was confident the 420-hp engine could be turned into a production car quickly, as was then-Audi development boss, Ulrich Hackenberg. It was even suggested that because the EA888 engine family bolted straight into the Volkswagen Group's ubiquitous MQB small-car architecture, the little powerhouse could be cheaply and quickly dropped into any of the company's cars that needed an image boost. Since then, Quattro has elevated the five-cylinder motor, switching it to an all-alloy block with a magnesium oil pan to cut down its weight while boosting its power and torque levels. Where the four-cylinder engine was shown with 420 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque, the production version of the TT RS's new five-cylinder engine totes 400 hp and 354 pound-feet of torque. The smaller engine's proponents claimed a 0-62 mph acceleration figure of just 3.7 seconds for the concept TT that carried it, and it might not be a coincidence that the all-new TT RS claims exactly the same figure. The 2.0-liter motor had a torque peak that arrived at 2,400 rpm and began to taper off at 6,300 rpm, while its power apexed at 6,700 rpm, thanks in part to a turbocharger that could feed it up to 1.8 bar of air. Flip to the TT RS' data and you're looking at more torque at lower revs and a touch less power, but at higher revs. That's not a lot of wriggle room for the concept engine to operate, especially when the perceived value of the five-cylinder engine is higher than the four, and the four's development and production costs would be higher than the five's.
VW Group recalls 27k Touaregs, Audis and Porsches for fuel leak
Tue, Jan 27 2015The Volkswagen Group is one of the most expansive in the entire industry, and shares parts across more product lines than we could wrap our heads around. So when the German megalith finds a fault in one of its components, it has the capacity to spread like wildfire. The latest set of recall notices from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration covers vehicles from the Volkswagen, Audi and Porsche divisions. The problem revolves around the fuel injection system, which could potentially leak and cause a fire. The recall affects – deep breath now – the 2012 VW Touareg Hybrid, the 2011-12 Porsche Cayenne S Hybrid and Panamera S Hybrid, 2011-12 Audi S4, S5 and Q7 and the 2012-13 Audi A7. All told, that amounts to 27,376 units, the owners of which can expect to hear from the manufacturer to have the fuel rails replaced, along with their corresponding seals (having nothing to do with marine mammals writing letters). RECALL Subject : Fuel Injection System Fuel Leak Report Receipt Date: JAN 20, 2015 NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V019000 Component(s): FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE Potential Number of Units Affected: 26,008 Manufacturer: Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. SUMMARY: Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain model year 2011-2012 Audi S4, S5, Q7, 2012 Audi A6, Volkswagen Touareg Hybrid, and 2012-2013 Audi A7 vehicles. In the affected vehicles the fuel injection system may experience a fuel leak. CONSEQUENCE: A fuel leak in the injection system in the presence of an ignition source, increases the risk of a fire. REMEDY: Volkswagen will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel rails and corresponding seals, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin March 10, 2015. Owners may contact Audi customer service at 1-800-822-2834 or Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-893-5298. Volkswagen's numbers for this recall are 24AP for Audi customers and 24BK for Volkswagen customers. NOTES: Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov. ### RECALL Subject : Fuel Injection System may Leak Report Receipt Date: JAN 20, 2015 NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V016000 Component(s): ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING Potential Number of Units Affected: 1,368 Manufacturer: Porsche Cars North America, Inc.
