Naples, Florida, United States
**** 2011 ASTON MARTIN V8 VANTAGE N420**** AVAILABLE EITHER AS A COUPE OR A CONVERTIBLE, WITH EITHER A SIX-SPEED MANUAL (THIS VEHICLE) OR SIX-SPEED AUTOMATED-MANUAL TRANSMISSION, THE N420 IS POWERED BY AN UNTOUCHED VERSION OF THE VANTAGE’S 4.7-LITER V-8. IT STILL MAKES 420 HORSEPOWER, BUT SHOULD SOUND EVEN MORE STIRRING DOING SO, THANKS TO A MODIFIED EXHAUST SYSTEM. N420 STANDS FOR THE 420BHP, 4.7-LITRE V8 ENGINE, WHICH ALL V8 VANTAGES HAVE THESE DAYS. BUT HERE IT GETS A NEW SPORTS EXHAUST, AND ONCE YOU HIT 4,000RPM, THERE'S A PROPER ROCK-GIG V8 BELLOW, AND WITH IT ALL THE POWER THE NOISE PROMISES. ASTON'S OPTIONAL ‘SPORTS PACK' CHASSIS IS STANDARD ON THE N420 - IT'S STIFFER AND TAUTER THAN NORMAL. GOING SLOWLY, IT CRUMPS AT EVERY LITTLE LUMP IN THE ROAD, BUT PUT SOME SPEED THROUGH IT, AND THE SPRINGS REALLY START TO WORK WITH JUST THE RIGHT SUPPLENESS. ASTON HAS DEVELOPED THE VANTAGE STEADILY OVER THE YEARS, AND IT'S NOW FLUENT AND BEAUTIFULLY BALANCED, GIVING YOU THE CONFIDENCE YOU NEED AS YOU LOAD IT UP THROUGH A SERIES OF BENDS AND PROJECT YOUR WAY OUT AND DOWN THE STRAIGHT. THE N420 HAS AN IRIDIUM INTERIOR PACKAGE WITH GRAPHITE INSTRUMENTS, A STEERING WHEEL COVERED IN LEATHER, AND CARBON FIBER N420 SILL PLATES. AS FOR THE EXTERIOR, THERE ARE MUCH MORE NOTICEABLE ENHANCEMENTS, STARTING WITH THE CARBON FIBER FRONT SPLITTER, REAR DIFFUSER, AND SIDE STRAKES. THE OPENINGS IN THE HOOD AND SIDE STRAKES ARE COVERED IN BLACK MESH. THE 19-INCH, 10-SPOKE WHEELS COME WITH A DIAMOND-TURNED, GLOSS BLACK FINISH, WHILE THE TAILPIPES GET GRAPHITE FINISHERS. ********** CARFAX CERTIFIED ********** THIS CONVERTIBLE IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. Even Aston Martin and Rolls-Royce have designed flying taxis
Mon, Jul 16 2018Think British-built taxi cabs and you're likely to think of the classic, black London taxis. However, there are British companies eager to take taxis to the skies — bearing vaunted nameplates. Aston Martin has created the Volante Vision Concept, which isn't a sports car, but a luxury VTOL aircraft. It is the product of a joint venture with Cranfield University, Cranfield Aerospace Solutions and Rolls-Royce, and Aston says it's a "near-future study" that previews a flying autonomous hybrid-electric vehicle. It's meant for both urban and inter-city travel. The hybrid powertrain would come courtesy of Rolls-Royce Electrical, which has already provided such systems for marine and train use. The Volante Vision Concept's design language has been overseen by Marek Reichman, who stated the following: "We are at the beginning of a new generation of urban transportation; vertical mobility is no longer a fantasy. We have a unique chance to create a luxury concept aircraft that will represent the ultimate fusion of art and technology. We have used forms and proportions that express the same devotion to design, engineering and beauty that shape our cars." The leather interior bears familiar, winged Aston Martin badging — though this time the wings are especially appropriate. Beyond working with Aston Martin, Rolls-Royce plc has also designed a flying taxi of its own. Similarly VTOL, Rolls-Royce's hybrid-electric taxi has rotating wings and uses a gas turbine engine paired to hybrid tech; it is designed to carry four or five passengers and offers a 500-mile range with a top speed of 250 mph. And Rolls, of course, as a major supplier of aircraft engines, knows a thing or two about flying. Rolls says that if there is a business case for the flying taxi, it could see production in the early-to-mid-2020s. The Rolls-Royce concept was presented Monday at the Farnborough Air Show. Aston Martin's next DB gets its bodywork on
Wed, Apr 22 2015Aston Martin is said to be working on a full revamp of its entire lineup, which is all well and fine, but what we want is proof. And here it is. Spotted testing on and around the Nurburgring is a prototype for Aston's next DB grand touring coupe. The successor to the DB9 is expected to make use of a completely new platform and eventually get a new engine stemming from the British automaker's partnership with Mercedes-AMG, but is likely to employ Aston's own 6.0-liter V12 as well. We've seen spy shots of test mules running before in various states of completion, but this is the first time we're seeing it in what appears to be its production bodywork, albeit still heavily camouflaged to keep it hidden from prying eyes. Expect the final version to draw its stylistic inspiration from the DB10 that James Bond will be driving in the upcoming film Spectre (and maybe just a few from flagship supercars like the One-77 and Vulcan, too). Whether Aston ultimately decides to call this one the DB10 as well, move on to the DB11, or stick with the DB9 remains to be seen, but so far it's looking pretty good.
Aston Martin launches Evolution Academy driver training program
Sat, Jan 10 2015No longer content with simply recruiting new talent when they're ready, young driver training programs are becoming increasingly vital to a racing team's success and continuity. But while most of those programs are run by Formula One teams like Red Bull and Ferrari, this time it's Aston Martin that's set up a network of its own. The British automaker, as any endurance racing fan will tell you, has a robust motorsports program, including works entries in the FIA World Endurance Championship, at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the Nurburgring 24 Hours, to say nothing of the privateer teams it supports in other series around the world. And to feed it with new talent, it has launched the Evolution Academy. Designed for up-and-coming drivers between the ages of 17 and 25, the Aston Martin Evolution Academy will be limited to ten participants each season. Each trainee will be assigned a veteran professional racing driver from the Aston Martin Racing roster, get seat-time in Aston's simulator, and will be coached in everything from fitness and nutrition to marketing and sponsor recruitment. At the end of the program, the top of the class will be offered a contract to race full-time with the company, which would be a pretty plum assignment for any sports racing driver. The announcement was made at the Autosport International show in Birmingham, where Aston is showcasing its various Vantage-based racers. ASTON MARTIN RACING LAUNCHES LANDMARK EVOLUTION ACADEMY 7 January 2015, Gaydon: Aston Martin Racing is launching a young driver programme, the Evolution Academy, which offers a coveted 2016 Aston Martin Racing works driver contract to the most successful participant of the season. The academy, being launched at the Autosport International Show, is open to applications from drivers aged 17-25 competing in an Aston Martin racing car this season. It has been devised by the Banbury-based team to help support and develop young talent, as well as creating a breeding ground for Aston Martin Racing works drivers of the future. Successful applicants, limited to a maximum of ten, will be assigned a professional mentor from Aston Martin Racing's team of top GT drivers. In addition, they will be given fitness and nutrition assessments and advice; PR, marketing and sponsorship support; training sessions in an Aston Martin Base Performance Simulator; and Evolution Academy-branded apparel including a race suit and team kit.
