Aston Martin shows its other half with new Lagonda Taraf sedan

It's been a long time since we've seen a new Lagonda, but here it is: the Taraf. Introduced a few months ago in Dubai, the new Aston Martin Lagonda Taraf has since been confirmed for wider availability outside of the Middle East – including Europe, though sadly not North America – and is making its major show debut here in Geneva. The Lagonda Taraf is based on familiar technology – built on Aston Martin's familiar VH platform and powered by the company's ubiquitous 6.0-liter V12 engine – but stretches longer than the more compact Rapide and with completely different styling than we've grown accustomed to seeing on modern Astons. Only 200 examples will be made, priced at what is sure to be a substantial premium befitting its scarcity and the revival of a long-dormant nameplate. All of which means that this represents a rare opportunity to see the new Lagonda up close... at least until Aston cooks up the next model to wear the badge. Related Video:

Aston Martin to cut 15 percent of workforce

Aston Martin has announced it will slash nearly 300 jobs, or about 15 percent of its total workforce, as part of a cost-cutting bid. The changes aren't going to come on the factory floor, though. Instead, according to the Unite trade union, the majority of firings will involve white collar employees – administrators, managers, and the like – at the company's headquarters in Gaydon, England, Bloomberg reports. In an emailed statement to the business outlet, Aston Martin said eligible employees will be offered early retirement options. While Aston said there'd only be 295 employees released, Unite put the number at no more than 314. "Collective consultation with employee representatives, including Unite, has begun and the company is working with them to minimize the risk of compulsory redundancies," the union told Bloomberg. Aston Martin added that this move will have no impact on the company's production figures, although it's unclear what it could mean for future vehicles, like the production DBX and upcoming DB11. Supercar parade entering highway is mesmerizing

In what must have looked and sounded to motorists on the M6 like an invasion of The Swarm, a parade of 50 enthusiast gems leaving a charity event were caught shooting down the on-ramp and merging into traffic. There were plenty of Porsches joining the 959 and Ducktail above, Aston Martins going back to the badboy V8 of the last millennium, a Ferrari Testarossa, a TVR and numerous other Easter eggs.
There were not, however, plenty of turn signals, with someone counting just five among the fifty engaging in proper use of the blinker. One reason put forth for that is the same reason we're posting this video, which is from last Summer, below: "because supercar." Enjoy.
