Overall Condition: 9.5/10
Exterior: 9.5/10

* Body – 9.5/10. Near perfect with no dents, dings, or scratches. Hood and deck lid are in perfect condition. Only one small nick on the entire body which is 1/4” x 1/8” on the driver’s side front quarter panel. Pic available upon request.

* Paint – 9/10. Beautiful Jet black paint deep and rich in color. Smooth as silk to the touch throughout. Detailed regularly. Only some very minor specking in front of the rear wheel wells which is very common and only visible when up close.

* Headlights, taillights, windows, and mirrors – 9.5/10. Clean headlights with 3M film protection, taillights clear with no chips or scrapes. Tinted power windows in great condition with no peeling or discoloration. No chips, scratches, or concerns with any windows or mirrors.

* Front bumper, grille, and splitter – 10/10. Front bumper like new with no nicks or scrapes. Upgraded OEM 6-slat bright finish grille (vs. standard 8-slat grille on all other 2006-2008 model years) in perfect condition with no water spots or discoloration. Front splitter updated with 3M carbon fiber wrap.

* Rear bumper and diffuser - 10/10. Rear bumper like new with no dents, nicks, or scrapes. Upgraded carbon fiber rear diffuser looks amazing compared the original and is in perfect condition. Lots of compliments. Still have the original rear diffuser and is negotiable with purchase if interested.

* Side skirts – 10/10. Upgraded OEM V12 side skirts provide an updated and more aggressive overall look, were paint matched with install, and are in perfect condition. This is a much sought after upgrade and was close to $3000 installed (have receipts). Still have the original side skirts and are negotiable with purchase if interested.

* Wheels and tires – 9/10. Upgraded OEM 19” Sport Pack wheels and Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires. These beautiful 5 double spoke forged alloy wheels were first available on the Vantage with the N400 special edition in 2008 and were later made available as part of a dealer-installable Sport Pack for all Vantages. These wheels are silver with diamond-turned faces which makes them iridescent in the sunlight. They are commonly regarded as the most beautiful wheels available for the Vantage. Wheels are all in excellent condition as you can see in the individual pics. Tires have plenty of grip with 7/32nds remaining or approximately 70%. 235/40/19 fronts, 275/35/19 rears. Comes with tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS). Still have the OEM 19” 7-spoke classic wheels and tires and are negotiable with purchase if interested.

Interior: 9.5/10

* Seats – 9.5/10. Updated 2007+ model year seat design. Power memory, heated seats in beautiful Obsidian black leather with silver contrast stitching. Seats are in excellent condition. Driver’s seat has no stretching or sagging, or any scuffs, scrapes, or tears that you will usually find with others. Firm, supportive, and comfortable. Passenger seat looks like new.

* Dash – 10/10. Perfect condition. Originally had a small pull in the leather on the front of the dash which is very common, but had that fixed with my initial purchase.

* Door panels – 9.5/10. Excellent condition with none of the typical scuffs, scrapes, or nicks in the arm rests from the seat belt hitting them that you will find in many others.

* Headliner – 10/10. Alcantera headliner in perfect condition.

* Center Console – 9.5/10. Center console in near perfect condition with no cuts or scrapes. Updated with 3M carbon fiber wrap for a more distinctive look. Can be removed with ease if you prefer the original look.

* Gauge Display – 10/10. Beautiful clear gauges and display with no scratches or nicks in the covering. No service lights or warnings as you will see in the pictures.

* Carpet and mats – 9.5/10. Black carpet and mats in excellent condition. Again, vehicle is detailed regularly.

* Door sills – 9.5/10. Door sills in excellent condition. Updated with 3M carbon fiber wrap for a more distinctive look as you will see in the pics. Originally did this as an easy test to see if I liked the look before buying the actual carbon fiber sills, and decided to save the $$$ and still keep 90%+ of the look. Very happy with them, but can easily be removed if you prefer the original look.

Are supercars becoming less special?

Thu, Sep 3 2015

There's little doubt that we are currently enjoying the golden age of automotive performance. Dozens of different models on sale today make over 500 horsepower, and seven boast output in excess of 700 hp. Not long ago, that kind of capability was exclusive to supercars – vehicles whose rarity, performance focus, and requisite expense made them aspirational objects of desire to us mortals. But more than that, supercars have historically offered a unique driving experience, one which was bespoke to a particular model and could not be replicated elsewhere. But in recent years, even the low-volume players have been forced to find the efficiencies and economies of scale that formerly hadn't been a concern for them, and in turn the concept of the supercar as a unique entity unto itself is fading fast. The blame doesn't fall on one particular manufacturer nor a specific production technique. Instead, it's a confluence of different factors that are chipping away at the distinction of these vehicles. It's not all bad news Β– Lamborghini's platform sharing with Audi for the Gallardo and the R8 yielded a raging bull that was more reliable and easier to live with on a day-to-day basis, and as a result it went on to become the best-selling Lambo in the company's history. But it also came at the cost of some of the Italian's exclusivity when eerily familiar sights and sounds suddenly became available wearing an Audi badge. Even low-volume players have been forced to find economies of scale. Much of this comes out of necessity, of course. Aston Martin's recent deal with Mercedes-AMG points toward German hardware going under the hood and into the cabin of the upcoming DB11, and it's safe to assume that this was not a decision made lightly by the Brits, as the brand has built a reputation for the bespoke craftsmanship of its vehicles. There's little doubt that the DB11 will be a fine automobile, but the move does jeopardize some of the characteristic "specialness" that Astons are known for. Yet the world is certainly better off with new Aston Martins spliced with DNA from Mercedes-AMG rather than no new Astons at all, and the costs of developing cutting-edge drivetrains and user interfaces is a burden that's becoming increasingly difficult for smaller manufacturers to bear. Even Ferrari is poised to make some dramatic changes in the way it designs cars.

The 11 best scenes from the 2015 Goodwood Festival of Speed

Tue, Jun 30 2015

Over the last three days, the Goodwood Estate has played home to the eponymous Festival of Speed. Thrown by the biggest gearhead in the British aristocracy – Charles Gordon-Lennox, the Earl of March and Kinrara Β– the Festival of Speed is essentially a tremendous, gasoline-fuelled party, complete with a very large lawn sculpture, that features the world's hottest, weirdest, fastest, and loudest race, production, and historic models. While there are quite literally dozens and dozens of videos from the event Β– not to mention the full-day replays (of which only day one is available, at present) Β– we've sifted through them to pluck away the very best. There's stuff from the official Goodwood YouTube channel, as well as several videos from automakers and other third-party channels, and it's all available below. 2015 Ford Mustang GT350R Looks Barely Controllable If you thought the highest-performance Ford Mustang would somehow get more tractable or civilized once it moved to an independent rear suspension, this video shows you have nothing to worry about. Watch as an unnamed driver wrestles the new Shelby GT350R and its flat-plane, 5.2-liter V8 up the hillclimb circuit. Even with the new suspension and sticky tires, this Mustang wants to go any direction but straight, especially following its launch. 2016 Ford Focus RS, Is Very Loud, Blue Ken Block makes his first appearance on our list. Before he steps into his Hoonicorn Mustang, though, the Gymkhana expert tackled the hill in the all-new Focus RS. The vicious bellow of the 2.3-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder is the star of this commentary-free video, although the gorgeous Nitrous Blue paint job is a nice accompaniment, as well. 1965 Ford Mustang Hoonicorn Runs Hill, Nearly Kills Lord March Mr. Block's two runs behind the wheel of the Hoonicorn were, unsurprisingly, very eventful. While one attempt goes off without a hitch, seeing the American rally driver slip and slide his way to the top of the hill while taking a short break for a donut, the other is slightly more dramatic. Block, along with Lord March in the passenger seat, carries a bit too aggressive an angle into a turn and nearly puts the NASCAR-powered Mustang into the hay bales. Check out the first video above, and the second one below. Kimi Raikkonen Makes Us Miss F1's V8 Era The latest Formula One cars have been maligned for the lackluster noise produced by the new 1.6-liter, turbocharged V6.

Aston Martin spotted testing striking Lagonda sedan

Thu, May 8 2014

Aston Martin may be known more for its two-door GTs and cabrios, but it has made a handful of four-door sedans. They've historically worn the Lagonda name as either a nameplate or marque, and that's just what we seem to have here. Spied running along familiar test routes in the UK, this prototype is reportedly registered to Aston Martin and based on the current Rapide S, complete with the company's long-serving AM11 6.0-liter V12. Only whereas the Rapide packs everything in tight on a short wheelbase – albeit with more room in the back than the two-door DB9 or Vanquish Β– this prototype appears to be riding on a stretched wheelbase. Over that lengthened frame, Aston's Q customization department has apparently draped custom bodywork with lines that seem to blend elements of the last Aston Martin Lagonda sedan that wedged its way in between 1976 and 1990 on the one hand, and Zagato's pair of Centennial concepts presented last summer on the other. One thing it clearly is not, however, is the Lagonda crossover concept which Aston revealed to mixed reviews at the Geneva Motor Show back in 2009. The big question is where this sedan is heading (beyond its test route). We could be looking at a highly exclusive creation for a handful of wealthy clients, or at a production model to relaunch the Lagonda brand as has long been anticipated. We're hoping it's the latter, but we'll just have to wait to find out. Judging by how close it looks to completion, it shouldn't be too long.
