Introduced at the Frankfurt Auto Show in 2003, Aston Martin’s DB9 took the press by storm. Designed by Ian Callum and Henrik Fisker, the car boasted the highest torsional rigidity of any car to date, teasing that this stunning grand tourer would be a hugely capable car in sportscar company.
A lusty V12, producing 450bhp, derived from the Vanquish will propel the car to 60mph in under 5 seconds with the six-speed ZF automatic gearbox featuring paddle-operated semi-automatic mode. The car offered here, a 2006 Volante in ever-stylish triple black, has covered a mere 14,500 miles from new and remains in excellent condition throughout. Paint is excellent and blemish-free, with no evidence of accident damage or repair. Standard and scuff-free wheels sport good tires with plenty of tread remaining. The soft top is excellent. The interior is as good as the exterior with no scuffs to the leather surfaces of seats, dash, or panels. Carpet is excellent, as is the optional black onyx wood veneer. All systems work perfectly, including Navigation, stereo system, and cold AC. The car has an aftermarket Sirius satellite radio system expertly installed. Mechanically, the car is as new. Well maintained, the car is bright and responsive with strong power, a smooth shifting gearbox and excellent brakes, suspension and steering. This is a superb and elegant example of a truly traditional British GT. |

Bathurst 12-hour gallery is GT3 heaven [w/video]
Mon, Feb 9 2015The 2015 Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12-Hour race was run this weekend at the Mt. Panorama Circuit in Bathurst, Australia. Race photographer Joel Strickland sent us a huge batch of photos, all of which make us salivate for the switch to GT3 rules in the United SportsCar Championship; the top seven finishers at Bathurst were of seven different makes: Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3, Audi R8-LMS Ultra, Aston Martin Vantage GT3, Bentley Continental GT3, Mercedes SLS AMG GT3, Ferrari F458 Italia and Lamborghini Gallardo. It was a sweet victory for the No. 35 car driven by the NISMO Athlete Global Team after it crashed in Saturday qualifying, and then was only in third place on the penultimate lap. The three-man driving team included two GT Academy winners, one of whom, Florian Strauss, has only been a professional race car driver for 18 months. It's the first time the GT-R has won at Panorama since the original R32 "Godzilla" took back-to-back wins in 1991 and 1992. Second place went to the No. 15 Phoenix Racing Audi R8-LMS Ultra, 2.4 seconds behind the winners, third to the Craft Bamboo Racing Aston Martin Vantage not even half a second behind the Audi. The Bentley Motorsport team, in its first Bathurst 12-Hour with two cars, had its No. 10 Continental GT3 in the lead until the penultimate lap and in second place until the final corner, but crossed the line in fourth after some rubbin'-is-racin' action from chasers. And if pictures aren't enough, as of writing you can still watch the live stream of the entire race at the Bathurst 12-Hour site. Or, if you don't have the time, at least be sure to check out the last five minutes, below. Enjoy. 2016 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance: It's all in the details
Mon, Aug 22 2016It's no secret that Pebble Beach is an ode to gorgeous, and mostly, classic cars. The car show may be a place for automakers to showcase extremely expensive cars to wealthy buyers, but it's also one of the go-to places for enthusiasts that love automobiles and culture. While it's easy to be overwhelmed by the overall beauty of a car, the real magic often needs closer inspection to be realized. Every car at Pebble Beach is a work of art, but the true beauty of the vehicles lies in the details. And Autoblog's photographer, Drew Phillips, managed to capture the details on some gorgeous cars. From the Lamborghini Miura's exquisite steering wheel to Rolls-Royce's Spirit of Ecstasy, it's all at Pebble Beach. We think the details on some of the cars are prettier than the cars themselves, but don't take our word for it. Check out the beautiful gallery above and enjoy the tiny bits and pieces behind some of the prettiest cars in the world.
