Introduced at the Frankfurt Auto Show in 2003, Aston Martin’s DB9 took the press by storm. Designed by Ian Callum and Henrik Fisker, the car boasted the highest torsional rigidity of any car to date, teasing that this stunning grand tourer would be a hugely capable car in sportscar company.
A lusty V12, producing 450bhp, derived from the Vanquish will propel the car to 60mph in under 5 seconds with the six-speed ZF automatic gearbox featuring paddle-operated semi-automatic mode.
The car offered here, a 2006 Volante in ever-stylish triple black, has covered a mere 14,500 miles from new and remains in excellent condition throughout. Paint is excellent and blemish-free, with no evidence of accident damage or repair. Standard and scuff-free wheels sport good tires with plenty of tread remaining. The soft top is excellent.
The interior is as good as the exterior with no scuffs to the leather surfaces of seats, dash, or panels. Carpet is excellent, as is the optional black onyx wood veneer. All systems work perfectly, including Navigation, stereo system, and cold AC. The car has an aftermarket Sirius satellite radio system expertly installed.
Mechanically, the car is as new. Well maintained, the car is bright and responsive with strong power, a smooth shifting gearbox and excellent brakes, suspension and steering.
This is a superb and elegant example of a truly traditional British GT.

Final Spectre trailer drops, still looks awesome
Fri, Oct 2 2015Well, here we are. After all the teasers, behind-the-scenes photos and videos, and wrecked Aston Martins, we have the final trailer for the newest James Bond flick, Spectre. Through all the leaks and other trailers, we've got a pretty good idea as to how many vehicular set pieces there will be when Spectre hits trailers. Obviously, the premiere spot will be the chase between 007's Aston Martin DB10 and the Jaguar C-X75 of baddy Mr. Hinx, while there looks to be a wintry exchange featuring a Range Rover Sport SVR, some Defenders, and a plane. This trailer also shows some kind of pickup truck – we're guessing it's a Toyota Hilux – t-boning an older Jaguar XJ, which we think is new footage. Of course, there's a lot more action beyond the automotive variety. There's a helicopter sequence, gunfights, a building collapse, and we get our very best look at the film's main villain, played by a Max von Sydow/Blofeld-channeling Christoph Waltz. Check out the trailer, available at the top of the page. Spectre hits US theaters on November 6.
Latest Spectre trailer loaded with cars, action
Wed, Jun 10 2015We've already received our first glimpse of the latest James Bond film, Spectre. But while that 90-second trailer was a bit light on vehicular mayhem, the trailer that aired during last night's NBA Finals game certainly wasn't. The 60-second spot started similarly to the first official Spectre trailer, but it quickly descended into something with a lot more action. Bond's one-off Aston Martin DB10 makes an appearance, as it did in the first trailer, but this time, we get a look at its duel with the Jaguar C-X75 of the film's villain. There are flames. Many flames. Check out the full trailer up top, and keep an eye open come November, when Spectre hits theaters.
Nissan could have bought a stake in Aston Martin as early as 2012
Mon, 08 Sep 2014Aston Martin has a very interesting future ahead of it. While the British brand appeared to be struggling with aging tech for a while, fresh investment from Daimler may have shown a light toward the future with the brand getting engines and electronics from them. Also, former Renault-Nissan top exec Andy Palmer has jumped ship from the French/Japanese automaker to become CEO of the much smaller sports car company. Interestingly, though, new reports from unnamed Nissan sources have indicated that Palmer has been pushing to work with AM for years.
Three unnamed company insiders told Reuters that Palmer made attempts to convince Renault-Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn in 2012 and 2013 to invest in Aston Martin, but his proposals were shot down both times for unspecified reasons, according to Automotive News. "We looked carefully at the proposal but we passed on it," said one of the sources.
You can easily see why Palmer was eying Aston Martin even back in 2012. It's no secret that the British sports car mavens were in need of extra funding, well before the Daimler investment. Building vehicles these days is only getting more expensive with stronger safety and emissions requirements. Just look at the brand's desperate hope to get a side-impact crash exemption to keep selling its models in the US as an example.
