US-spec Alfa Romeo 4C Spider caught naked at a photo shoot

The Alfa Romeo 4C Spider is getting ready for its reveal and market roll-out, which means it's time to put together broadcast materials, and that means the open-roof coupe has to venture outside. Someone caught a few photos of a yellow example during one such jaunt in Andalusia, Spain during photo and television work, and based on this glimpse we'll happily welcome it to our shores. Yes, we felt the same way when we saw the concept introduced at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year, and except for two small changes, it's the same car. This production version has an air inlet on the driver's side just ahead of the rear wheel said to improve cooling for the dual-clutch transmission, and the centrally mounted exhaust pipes on the concept have moved to the corners. It also wears the concept's wheels and the conventional headlights, instead of the arachnid units best suited for getting the attention of mating wolf spiders. We shouldn't have too much longer to wait for information on the car's weight gain and performance, as well as its roof panel operation. Alfa Romeo turns it up to 11 with Harrison guitars and Marshall amps

To American enthusiasts, nothing might say rock n' roll quite like a classic muscle car. But that doesn't preclude the Europeans from trying. Volkswagen has partnered with Fender for its premium audio systems, and now Alfa Romeo is teaming up with some rocking powerhouses as well. The Italian automaker is collaborating with Harrison Custom Guitar Works to create the limited-edition axe you see here. The electric guitar is designed around Alfa's iconic grille and uses automotive materials like aluminum and carbon fiber as well as traditional guitar woods like poplar, maple, ebony and Korina. The cross-bars, pickups, tail piece and bridge are CNC-machined from aluminum billet. Only 11 examples will be made, each taking eight months to construct, and priced at GBP4,000 (about $6,800 at current exchange rates). At the same time Alfa has also created a one-off MiTo concept car together with Marshall Amplification. The hatchback packs a custom Marshall JVM 50-watt amp and a pair of 12-inch 75-watt speakers, but has also been decked out with gold-mesh trim on the grille, head- and taillight surrounds, side mirrors, door handles and lower bumper – just like a Marshall stack – while the interior has been worked over with Marshall treadplates, white piping and gold trim. The shift knob has even been replaced by a Shure SH55 microphone. Though the collaborations look like something straight out of This Is Spinal Tap (with a touch of The Graduate thrown in for good measure), they'll both be showcased at a special screening in London of another rock documentary: Sound City, directed by Foo Fighters frontman (and former Nirvana drummer) Dave Grohl. Alfa Romeo unveils more details about US-spec Giulia

Last November, Alfa Romeo unveiled some of the tech specs about the 2017 Giulia in the US, but now the company has released even more details about the lower trims ahead of their upcoming appearance at the New York Auto Show. We still don't officially know their prices, but the Giulia arrives here in three trims: a standard model, the mid-range Giulia Ti, and the high-performance Giulia Quadrifoglio. The Giulia and Giulia Ti use a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 276 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. Power routes through an eight-speed automatic to the rear wheels, and the sedans can reach 60 miles per hour in 5.5 seconds. The optional Q4 all-wheel drive system can send up to 60 percent of the torque to the front axle when necessary. However, there's no word yet how this layout affects performance. Even the lower rungs of the Giulia range have a sporty demeanor. Standard features include a seven-inch driver info display between the analog gauges, a flat-bottom steering wheel, and keyless start. Depending on model, they come with either a 6.5-inch or 8.8-inch widescreen infotainment system, which uses a rotary dial in the center console for the controls. There's also a huge range of customization, including optional Sport, Luxury, and Performance packages and 13 available exterior colors. The Quadrifoglio ups the performance ante with a 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 boasting 505 hp and 443 lb-ft of torque, which rockets the sedan to 60 mph in 3.8 seconds. To maximize efficiency, the engine has stop-start and cylinder deactivation. Customers who want a little more can order optional carbon fiber shell Sparco seats, which Alfa claims are the lightest in the segment, and carbon-ceramic Brembo brakes.
