1984 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce

The car presented here is a very special Vehicle, being a fully original, one-owner, extremely low-mileage (74,000!!) Southern California ALFA. As pampered as they come, it's truly a dream come true for the serious ALFA connoisseur!

This is a one owner 1984 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce, excellent condition with only 74,000 miles! The car comes equipped with manual transmission and original owners manual with most service records available. The color combination on this car is beautiful, a real head turner! Superbly finished in a unique Light Aqua Metallic over Navy Blue color interior. Car has been very well taken care of and is a great driver.

This 1984 Spider Veloce is a classic Italian drop-top that is in incredible condition throughout. This Spider features a number of desirable features like an exotic wood-grained steering wheel and exotic wood-grained shift knob, great dash with the separate speedometer and tachometer in hooded binnacles (before they went to the modern combination cluster), Navy Blue upholstery in great shape, black original Alfa-style floor mats and even a blue original convertible  cover to match the interior when the black soft top is down! Under the hood is a smooth 2.0L I4 mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The sporty Pininfarina-designed body is expertly finished and virtually free of flaws, set off by 14 Ferrari 308-style wheels that are wrapped with Michelin tires. The original owner's manual is included with this Alfa, as well as a binder containing most service records and additional service work completed. For entertainment, there is  AM / FM stereo cassette deck. This Spider Veloce drives as good as it looks and you're sure to grab attention with it wherever you go! Vehicle is a Southern California car with no rust. The car has been recently serviced and it is very healthy mechanically. It runs and drives great!

Please feel free to contact me, I have a lot more pictures of the interior, exterior of the car + additional vehicle information.

History of the 1984 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce
The Series 3 Spider was previewed in North America for the 1982 model year with the introduction of 2.0 liter Bosch electronic fuel injection to replace the SPICA mechanical injection. The Spider underwent a major styling revamp in 1983, which saw the introduction of black rubber front and rear bumpers. The front bumper incorporated the grille and a small soft rubber spoiler was added to the trunk lid. The change altered the exterior appearance of the car. Various other minor mechanical and aesthetic modifications were also made. "In 1984, Alfa only offered the Spider Veloce model, but added two other versions (Graduate and Quadrifoglio) in the following years. The Graduate was the low-spec price leader and had vinyl interior, manual windows, steel wheels, and not many creature comforts. The Spider Veloce had leather, power windows & mirrors, Daytona (Ferrari 308 style) alloy wheels and a much higher option list than the Graduate. The Quadrifoglio had the Veloce specs plus a specially designed hard top, “phone dial” alloy wheels, and some gaudy lower body cladding, and this model now appears quite dated. All three versions share the same 2.0 litre engine with Bosch fuel injection, five speed manual gearbox, and 4 wheel disc brakes.

Car and Driver shows off awesome 1960s ads

Fri, Sep 11 2015

Someone must have recently rediscovered the keys to the archives at Car and Driver, and the access has been put to good use. Following last month's fantastic look at automotive ads from the '50s, there's now a new gallery running from March 1960 through December 1969. This collection provides a great overview of a decade full of iconic cars. If you're a fan of Carroll Shelby, particularly his Mustangs, then there's a lot to love among this group. One ad from July 1965 aimed to sell the GT350, but with an ocean of text and a tiny picture, it probably could've used a once-over by Don Draper's team. By December '65, the copywriters ironed out the problems with a spot proclaiming boldly "Shelby GT350 is 'Son of Cobra.'" The company offered some great accessories, too. For those into European motoring, there's a humorous attempt to sell the Alfa Romeo Giulia as both a racecar and family hauler. Toyota also boasts about the winning record for the 2000GT. Among the best text comes from BMW for lines like: "What's BMW got? The most advanced high-performance engine in any production car, for a cruising speed of 100 mph." Of course, Volkswagen's famous "Lemon" ad for the Beetle also gets its due here. Separately, each of these ads is fascinating, but taken together they tell the story of a great decade of motoring. Go give them all a read at Car and Driver. Fiat reconsidering Mazda-based Alfa Romeo roadster? [w/poll]

Mon, 03 Mar 2014

Alfa giveth and Alfa taketh away. With apologies to Job (he has gone through a lot, after all), that's how things are looking at the Italian automaker - whether it's the promise of new products or its impending return to the North American market. But it's especially true when it comes to new roadsters.
While Alfa Romeo is expected to unveil the 4C Spider at the Geneva Motor Show this week, reports are now suggesting that its other roadster project is being called into question. That project is a joint venture between Fiat and Mazda, which was set to produce a version of its next MX-5 Miata as an Alfa Romeo, and was even changing the design to accommodate Alfa's requirements.
Now it appears, however, that the whole project in doubt. The problem seems to stem from Sergio Marchionne's pronouncements that, as long as he's in charge, there won't be an Alfa Romeo built outside of Italy.
