I will be adding more pictures within the next few days.

Due to an unexpected opportunity I am having to offer my 1989 Quadrifoglio Spider up for auction at "No Reserve".

The Quadrifoglio was part of an estate and I was told that the owner purchased it off the showroom floor of the local Alfa dealer in Kentucky in 1989 with 8000 miles on it.  It was kept in the same family for the entire ownership as it was conveyed to me.  The Alfa has seen little use over the years showing only 91,000 miles.  Has not been used for at the last year if not longer.  Will need some general maintenance work as noted in the description below.

For those that are not familiar with the Quadrifoglio Model, it was the top of the line model offered at the time.  The Quadrifoglio came with a color coded factory "hard top", special "recaro" style seats and a factory body kit as well as special 15 inch "phone dial wheels".

This example is completely stock down to the original factory shift knob and radio.

The body is in good original condition as shown in the pictures.  The paint on the Alfa is weak and really would benefit from a repaint.  The body shows previous paint work that does not match very well.   There are also numerous chips, cracking in the paint and scratches that have occurred over the years, including a good sized scratch on the right front fender as shown in the pictures.  These imperfections in the paint do not show up very well in the pictures, but upon closer inspection paint condition is quite evident.  The body itself is very solid with excellent panel gaps on the doors, trunk lid and hood.  The floor pan is in good condition with no evidence of rust or damage.
Rust is limited to a small "bubble" at the lower portion of the driver's side front fender and also there is a soft spot in the spare tire well.  Hard Top has small 1 inch crack.  Lower valance below rear bumper has 2 cracks in each corner - not very noticeable but worth mentioning.  Has small "outie" dent from battery.  Nose panel is in nice condition with no damage.  Trunk carpet in very nice condition.

The interior is in excellent original condition showing very little wear.  The dash is very nice with a few small cracks near the defroster, but not the typical large cracks.  The factory leather seats are in good condition. Both door panels are in nice condition however the driver's side needs new mounting clips. The dash itself as well as the center console are all in very nice condition as shown in the pictures.  The original "red" carpet is in very nice condition as is the rear jump seat area.  Has original convertible top that could use replacing.  The original factory radio and power antenna both work fine.

The 2 Liter engine starts up easily and runs quietly with no strange noises.  As best as I can tell there has not been any major work done to the engine and I suspect that the head has never been off.  With many Alfa's, there is some indication that the headgasket will need to be replaced at some point since I can see some oil in the overflow bottle.  The Alfa does not have any noticeable oil leaks underneath.  Gearbox seems fine with typical weak second gear syncro.  Clutch pedal feels a little soft and may need to be bled, but does not have any issues getting into gear.  Lights, blinkers, wipers & heater motor work fine.   All lenses in good condition with no cracks or damage.   Has new center section of the exhaust.

Known issues:

Needs tires
Paint is weak
Convertible top is original
Gas lid cable needs replacing - can be opened from the outside.
Rust spot on lower front fender
Spare tire well has soft spot
Small star crack in the windshield
AC not hooked up
Passenger side window regulator not working
Misc. maintenance

The Alfa Spider is being sold in "as is" condition with no warranty expressed or implied.  I cannot be held responsible for any errors or inaccuracies that may have been inadvertently been provided.

Please have your finds in order prior to bidding.

Shipping is up to the buyer to arrange.

As stated, the Quad represents a wonderful opportunity for the Alfa enthusiast that is looking for a solid example at a low price.  Comes with a clear Michigan title.  Will need some general work/maintenance as noted in the description.  The buyer should expect other normal wear and tear items to be addressed as would be expected of a 25 year old vintage sports car.  Sold in "as is" condition with no warranty expressed or implied.
I have done my best to describe the Alfa to the best of my ability, however there may be some things that I may have missed.  It is up to the buyer to do due diligence when making a purchase online.  Do not make any assumptions about anything.  Ask any questions that may not have been addressed.  I am not responsible for any errors or erroneous misinformation.

I will be adding more pictures within the next few days.

For the motivated buyer, I will consider ending the auction early for a serious offer.

"NO RESERVE AUCTION"

The fine print:  If you have 5 or less feedback transactions, you must contact me prior to bidding.  A non-refundable deposit of $500.00 is due within 24 hours of the auction end.  If the deposit is not received, the Alfa will be offered to the next highest bidder.  The balance is due within 7 days of the auction end date.  The car must be picked up within 10 days of the auction end date.   A $10.00 per day storage fee will be charged after the 10 days unless prior arrangements have been made.  I have sold several vintage cars to overseas buyers with the buyers being extremely pleased with the sale.    If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me.  I will do my best to answer any questions you may have.

Alfa Romeo 8C, Maserati Quattroporte and Granturismo models recalled over rust fears

Mon, 20 May 2013

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced Maserati and Alfa Romeo are recalling certain Quattroporte, Granturismo and 8C models over potentially faulty tie rod ends. According to NHTSA, 2005-2008 Quattroporte, 2008 Granturismo and 2008 8C units may have been assembled with tie rod ends that have insufficient corrosion protection. As such, the components may rust, weaken and potentially fail. If that happens, the driver could lose control of the vehicle and cause an accident.
Maserati and Alfa Romeo will contact owners and replace the tie rod end assemblies once the recall gets underway in June. All told, 7,438 vehicles are impacted by the recall. You can read the full NHTSA notice below for more information.

Alfa Romeo planning a four-cylinder, 350-hp Giulia Veloce?

Mon, Nov 13 2017

At the moment, Alfa Romeo sells a 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder Giulia with 280 horsepower for $37,995, and a 2.9-liter, twin-turbo six-cylinder Giulia Quadrifoglio with 505 hp for $72,000. A vacuum separates those poles, and the marketplace, echoing nature, hates it. Some recent Internet sleuthing in The Netherlands and in the U.S. might have identified a suitable object to fill that void: a 350-hp version of the 2.0-liter turbo. Last December, Dutch shop Squadra Tuning discovered an entry on Fiat Chrysler's Dutch-market parts site for a 2.0-liter turbo Giulia producing 350 metric horsepower (345 U.S. ponies). Not long after that, an Autoevolution reader submitted an image of an FCA document for the NAFTA region, which listed a 2.0-liter, 350-hp model for the USA equipped with the eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive. The name of the model powered by that engine: "Giulia Veloce." Certain international markets already offer a Veloce trim with an auto transmission and all-wheel drive, but engine choices are the 280-hp 2.0-liter we already get, and a 2.2-liter turbodiesel we don't get. If those overseas discoveries were merely smoke, conjecture took a huge step toward fire a few days ago when Bozi Tatarevic found a 2.0-liter, 350-hp engine option on Mopar Tech Authority, FCA's OEM service portal. Car and Driver asked Alfa Romeo for clarification, the carmaker responding, "No plans for any other engines for Giulia in North America for 2018 model year besides the 2.0L and 2.9L [gasoline] versions." Having ruled 2018 out, onlookers have turned their eyes to 2019 for the introduction of this 350-hp motor. What's more, a comment on Tatarevic's tweet sends speculation into 48-volt overboost. Twitter user Rob P replied, "This is pretty well established as happening. MY2019, USA only. 280hp + 48V electrical system + elec. assisted turbo = ~350bhp 'Veloce' in USA nomenclature." No matter how the horses are made, assuming 350 cavalli make it across the Atlantic, Alfa's lineup will profit from the addition: Buyers in the sport sedan segment would get some Italian sprezzatura to cross-shop against German Monumentalitat. Alfa Romeo returns to F1 racing by sponsoring Sauber for 2018

Tue, Feb 20 2018

Doesn't it feel good to see the Alfa Romeo emblem proudly displayed on a Formula One car again? It's been 30 years since Alfa Romeo had anything to do with F1 cars, as in the late '80s the manufacturer supplied engines to Ligier and Osella. Alfa Romeo even developed the first modern Formula One V10 engine, but that ended up in a 164 Procar instead of Ligier race cars. After a 30-year hiatus, it was announced in late 2017 that Alfa Romeo's brand would return to F1 racing by sponsoring Sauber. There isn't an Alfa Romeo engine in the 2018 Sauber C37, as it uses a current Ferrari power unit instead and Alfa Romeo's involvement is strictly about FCA's sponsoring the Swiss racing team. The drivers for 2018 are Charles Leclerc and Marcus Ericsson. Jorg Zander, Sauber's technical director, says: "The car philosophy is much different to that of the C36. The aerodynamic concept has changed significantly, and the C37 has several new features in comparison to its predecessor. We are positive that the new concept offers us more opportunities and will help us to make improvements during the course of the season. The 2018 Ferrari engine will also give us a boost in terms of our performance. We hope that we will make progress with the C37 and that we are more competitive compared to 2017."
