1982 is the last year of the series 2 spider, without the front and rear spoilers that most aficionado agree was a step in the wrong direction aesthetically. It is the first year of the very dependable Bosch injection system, so the only year with the 'good looks and dependability'. The paint is called seafoam green and is factory original pearl color that changes from green to blue, depending on light....note in the photos indoor garage shots vs. in the sunshine shots, gorgeous! Interior is a combination of bright blue carpets, with dark blue leather, in flawless 'new condition throughout' again, very attractive. I went to great expense to secure and convert to the stainless bumpers front and rear and eliminate the nasty US govt. required 'big a$$ black bumpers!' I am a longtime Alfisti and had saved a perfect bumper set for more than 25 years waiting for the best candidate, this Spider is it! I acquired this beauty from its original owner who saved every extensive service record from new and it has 57k original miles on the odo. It was repainted due to being 'keyed' by vandals at one point while parked in San Francisco...insurance paid, so it looks near new. Top was replaced at that time, padded canvas. Wheels are flawless, tires new. These are very luxurious cars, power windows, power electric mirrors, leather interior (flawless), plush carpets, padded canvas top, and they are just an absolute joy to drive, quick and nimble. This is one of the lowest mileage gorgeous spiders you will ever see. Prices are on the rise....what cool collector car isn't?? I am downsizing my lovely collection of vintage cars. Alfa's have been stuck in the mud valuation wise, but Guilia/Guilietta and roundtail spiders are spiking in value now. A clean 1982 Spider sold at auction for $22K plus at this winter's AZ scene, and this car trumps that car at a lower price by a long shot. Differences include alloy wheel upgrade and expensive concours condition stainless bumper conversion. I am in Lake Tahoe, NV (northshore). This is THE Alfa Spider to acquire, you have to see it to believe it, obsessively pampered and garaged from new and it shows. The ONLY negative associated with this car in an effort to represent the car honestly is a 'crunch when cold' in 2nd gear. I have not changed out to red dot, but apparently this is a decent 'fix' until replacement time. It is NOT necessary to repair/replace at this time, performs just fine when warmed up. This car rests in a heated garage on a battery tender and starts right up every time. Spring is right around the corner, this car is stunningly beautiful, rare and in exceptional condition. In the photos, note the gap between bumper and hood...rare laser straight like this, no bumps and bruises on this specimen! |

Sell your own: 1991 Alfa Romeo Spider
Mon, Jun 12 2017Looking to sell your car? We make it both easy and free. Quickly create listings with up to six photos and reach millions of buyers. Log in and create your free listings. The relaunch of the Alfa Romeo franchise by FCA, while promising, is without the presence of Alfa's lovely Spider convertible. There is, of course, the mid-engine 4C Spider, but that's far more exotic and expensive. If you're looking for the charm of the original, at a more affordable price, you'll need to go back 20-plus years, when Alfa was last in America. What began as the boat-tailed Duetto in 1966, and evolved into the Kammback-profiled Spider around 1970, stayed in production with minimal changes through 1993. In 1983, U.S. bumper regulations began taking their visual toll, but that mod was minimized by the time this for-sale example was built. You won't find roadsters for under $15,000 with the charms of an Alfa Romeo. If it has a clean Carfax and credible pre-purchase inspection, this Spider could provide years of enjoyment. We doubt a '91 Spider will appreciate, but you can, well, still appreciate it. And it's in San Francisco, so make its purchase a vacation. CEO says Volkswagen's buying spree is over
Mon, 03 Sep 2012
After adding Italian motorcycle icon Ducati to its stable and spending $5.6 billion on the rest of Porsche, Volkswagen CEO Martin Winterkorn says he's done shopping for a while.
"We have enough to do at the moment in taking our twelve brands to where we want to be," Winterkorn tells German newspaper Handelsblatt.
Watch Alfa's 4C storm up Goodwood's hillclimb course quicker than a Corvette
Sat, Feb 22 2014Alfa Romeo's gorgeous 4C remains a car that we in the United States are forced to admire from afar. Thankfully, our petrolheaded brethren in the UK and Europe seem all too happy to flaunt the 4C at most every opportunity. Take this video of the team at Goodwood, running the mid-engined Alfa up the estate's historic hill. Watching the 4C run the course while belting out its adorably angry engine note is plenty entertaining on its own. Of course, it gets better when the Goodwood folks lay down some serious rubber following the car's 61.1-second lap. That number bests the wet time of the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, by the way. Have a look below for the full video from the team at Goodwood.
