1982 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce Convertible 2.0l 1962cc - Runs Great Fun To Drive! on 2040-cars
Bethesda, Maryland, United States
Lovely 1982 Alfa spider with just 59,800 miles for sale. Road ready and regularly driven on weekends. I am sad to be selling this incredibly fun car, but I have to part with it because I am moving out of the country and the cost of shipping the car exceeds my budget. I bought the car from the second owner and I have partial service records from the first owner and from me.
This car has been driven regularly and maintained and has a very solid engine and mechanicals and a new vinyl top. Brakes were replaced a couple of years ago. Interior is original (tan leather with tan/brown carpeting) except for aftermarket stereo. Electric windows and mirrors are in working order. The 4 cyl 1952 cc engine runs great, backed by Bosch fuel injection. The car is in good shape underneath - radiator guard is 100% intact which is rare on these. Not a show car but I'm not ashamed to take it to cars & coffee, and with a new paint job it would really look like a million bucks. Work needed: Needs a new paint job due to 32 years of scratches and dings and a long-ago substandard repaint on the trunk lid. Dent in nose has been filled and primed, and I also primed a couple of spots on/near the trunk that were starting to show surface rust. The leather seats are cracked and split at the seams and need recovering. There is a small pebble chip in the windshield. I would also suggest replacing the stereo. Please email me any questions you may have and I will answer as soon as possible. |

Alfa Romeo Giulia gets top safety award from IIHS
Tue, Oct 3 2017The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has awarded a Top Safety Pick+ rating, its highest award, to the 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia midsize luxury sedan — but with a caveat. The Giulia must have been built after May of this year, when the car's front-end structure was improved and the door hinge pillar and door sill were reinforced, among other changes. Vehicles that earn the IIHS's Top Safety Pick+ must achieve good ratings in all five crash tests — small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraints — an advanced or superior rating in front crash prevention and and acceptable or good rating for headlights. The Giulia's optional front crash prevention system earned a superior rating after it avoided a crash in the 12 mph track test and reduced its impact speed by an average 24 mph in the 25 mph test. The car's optional curve-adaptive headlights earned a good rating, while the base headlights rated poor. It joins 2017 versions of the Lexus ES 350, Audi A3 and A4, Volvo S60 and V60, and BMW 2 series and 3 series, as Top Safety Pick+ awardees for its segment. CEO says Volkswagen's buying spree is over
Mon, 03 Sep 2012
After adding Italian motorcycle icon Ducati to its stable and spending $5.6 billion on the rest of Porsche, Volkswagen CEO Martin Winterkorn says he's done shopping for a while.
"We have enough to do at the moment in taking our twelve brands to where we want to be," Winterkorn tells German newspaper Handelsblatt.
Only best-performing US Fiat dealers to get Alfa Romeo franchises
Mon, Feb 24 2014Alfa Romeo has been rumored to return to the US market so many times for so many years, it's hard to keep count. This time, though, Fiat Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne promises that it's for real. Alfa is scheduled to reappear in the States this summer with its 4C sports coupe as its introductory model. However, buyers won't be able to pop into just any Fiat showroom and leave with a 4C – it's planning to only sell Alfas at its best-performing dealers, according to The Detroit News. In fact, the first 4Cs sold here won't be sold at Fiat dealers at all. Instead the first shipment of cars in June will go to Maserati dealers, not unlike the handful of Alfa 8C Competizione coupe and convertible models that trickled in starting in 2008. According to Fiat Chrysler spokesperson Rick Deneau, the company is still deciding which Fiat retailers will participate in Alfa's reentry. Many of Fiat's US dealers are apparently not happy with the meritocracy approach. They built Fiat showrooms partially on the promise that Alfa would enter the US market in 2012, then 2013, and now later this year. Even worse for them, the prospects for more mainstream Alfa Romeo models in the US are still questionable. This isn't the first time that we've heard that Fiat plans to keep Alfa Romeo exclusive in the US. Still, Fiat only plans to export about a 1,000 4C sports coupes a year here. If Alfa wants to be a legitimate player in America and be a money-making concern globally, it will need far more sales than that.
