This 1978 Spider convertible is as close to a barn find as you can get. It has been in storage for the past fifteen years or so, freshly removed. 39K original, documented miles. It was purchased from its original owner just two months ago. Probably all receipts since new. Sold new in Phoenix, AZ and has never left. This is a running and driving car, but needs some TLC and could be considered a 'project' car.
I bought the car recently because I can rarely pass on a good deal, and to have as a summer time convertible for fun. But I have not done the minor repairs needed to make it a reliable daily driver so I am just putting it up for sale instead.
Since it was brought out of storage recently, both fuel pumps have been replaced (the in-tank and along the frame) and it has a brand new battery. The car does need some work though before it can be driven regularly due to the long time storage. The person who did the fuel pumps also cleaned the fuel tank but said that the fuel sending unit was no good, and that fuel would leak if the tank was filled up too much. The engine sounds good but runs rich and idles low. It seems similar to a vacuum leak, but I have not investigated the cause. It should probably get a fresh tune up. The transmission feels just fine, as does the clutch. The clutch master cylinder leaks a little under the hood when depressed. I have already purchased a new one in the box. It is included but not installed yet. The tires are very dry from the Arizona heat. They should be replaced before driving any distance. I have never tested the AC, but it is still intact. You can get in this car and drive it, but I don't think it is ready for more than just short drives as it is.
The body and paint are in okay, driver condition. No rust ever, anywhere. Most of the paint is original, but it has had some repaint work done. The panel in front of the hood, and the passenger fender and door look like they were repainted a long time ago. In the large stack of receipts there is one for $800 in touch up paint from when the car was almost new (1980). The plastic chrome 'V' that mounts under the front bumper is loose and not in very good conditon. There are some dings, scratches, and chips, but not more than you would expect for a car that is 35 years old. All the glass is good. Overall, you can drive this car as it is without having to do anything to the exterior.
The interior is all original and somewhat dry. The seats have dried and split in the cushions, the drivers side especially. The carpet is in good condition, but very sun faded. There are two cracks in the dash. The steering wheel is very nice. The door panels are good. The convertible top is completely dried out and needs to be replaced. The original convertible top boot is decent. I had new clips installed on it. The radio works. All the gauges except the fuel and speedo work.
It is still nice and clean under the hood. Never messed with and all original. The trunk is decent and has the matching aluminum spare tire and original tools.
Overall this Alfa is unique in the fact that it is a desirable older Spider, but is a one owner, 39k original mile car. It does need some work, but it won't take much to make it a good, 'get-in-and-go' weekend convertible.
The car comes with a clean and clear Arizona title with a little over 39k box 'A' (actual and correct) miles. The car is sold 'as is'. I will help with transportation as I can. The car can be stored for a time if needed. The car is located in Phoenix, Arizona.

Everything we know about the Alfa Romeo Stelvio
Tue, Oct 11 2016Alfa Romeo is working rapidly on putting a crossover onto the road and these latest awkwardly-shaped spy shots are our best look at the upcoming Stelvio. Crossovers and compact SUVs are still outrageously popular with Americans and Alfa Romeo wants in on the ever-growing segment. The upcoming Stelvio, then, would make Alfa more profitable and make the storied brand once again a household name. Here's an overview of everything we know about the Stelvio. October 24, 2016: A moderately-camouflaged Stelvio is spotted testing in broad daylight with minimal updates. The most recent prototype has three strangely-shaped ridges on the hood, while the headlights and taillights, despite being taped off, still appear to be taken straight from the Giulia sedan. The profile mimics that of the Porsche Macan with the bulbous rear end gaining massive exhaust tips. View 12 Photos October 11, 2016: Photographers captured a lightly-camouflaged Stelvio testing in Europe at night, giving us our best look at the SUV's design. The front of the vehicle shares the same front fascia design as the Giulia sedan with two oval-shaped inlets on the side and the automaker's iconic rounded-triangle grille. The headlights also appear to be the same slit-like units on the Giulia, as well. The side profile of the SUV portrays a rounder design than displayed on previous prototypes that photographers have spotted. At the rear, two small tail pipes protrude out of the vehicle, while the taillights appear to be similar to the Giulia's, too. Unsurprisingly, the Stelvio looks comparable to a Giulia on stilts. View 7 Photos June 28, 2016: A prototype of the Stelvio is spotted wearing a massive amount of camouflage, making the shape and overall design of the SUV hard to discern. Again, the automaker's well-known front end is easy to spot, as are the two large exhaust outlets at the back. The rear end, though, features an interesting, rakish design that is more in line with a Sportback than a SUV. Photographers also managed to get pictures of the SUV's interior, which featured birch-like wood, an integrated screen, and large paddle shifters behind the thick steering wheel. Just like on the Giulia, the start-stop button is mounted directly onto the steering wheel. View 10 Photos April 7, 2016: The Alfa Romeo Stelvio is spotted testing for the first time. Alfa Romeo was caught testing a heavily-camouflaged prototype of the Stelvio wearing an insane amount of unsightly black plastic.
The Effeffe Berlinetta is a brand new 1960s Italian GT
Fri, Apr 8 2016You're looking at a brand new car, not one that has spent 50 years under a tarp in some barn in the Italian countryside. The vintage-looking Berlinetta, dreamed up by the brothers Frigorio, has been in the works for a number of years now. It was initially unveiled at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este two years ago, and the official introduction will be held at the Top Marques show in Monaco next week. As it stands, it offers a fascinating glimpse into the way sports cars used to be built, with virtually nothing to let a casual observer know that it's factory fresh. The drivetrain on the two-seater Berlinetta is classic Italian, using a front-mid-mounted Alfa Romeo Twin Cam four-cylinder, which originally dates back to 1971 in design. Naturally, the two-liter unit is coupled to a five-speed manual gearbox, and the two Weber DCOE carburetors finish off the power figures at 180 horsepower at 6,500 rpm. The car follows classic Alfa Romeo lines, but isn't a direct replica, rather a tribute to Italian GT car building half a century ago – the chassis is a handmade tubular spaceframe and the entire Berlinetta will weigh less than 1,760 lbs. There are disc brakes front and rear, and while the front suspension is independent, the rear relies on a solid live axle complete with a Watt's linkage setup. And – of course – it sits on wire wheels with center knock-off lugs. As for the interior, it will all be custom-made and tailored to the buyer's taste, and each car will be unique. The full Matteograssi leather interior includes a matching luggage set, too, and the driver will be holding a wooden Nardi steering wheel. What kind of price would you expect for something like this? The Frigerio brothers have priced their small-series creation at nearly $320,000. That includes some track time to get to grips with one's new 1960s sportscar, and the chassis settings will be fine-tuned to one's personal preferences. There are plans to widen the portfolio with another model, and we're hoping that will be a drop-top Spider made in the same style. Alfa Romeo will gain a Jeep Compass-based SUV
Fri, Nov 30 2018It was reported earlier this week that FCA would invest into its Italian factories to ramp up production at currently underutilized locations. Those plans have now been clarified with official information from FCA, as reported by Automotive News. The entire investment is worth $5.7 billion. First of all, Alfa Romeo will gain a new compact SUV based on the Jeep Compass architecture. The still-unnamed model will be available as a plug-in hybrid, and it will be built in Pomigliano, Italy. No U.S. availability has yet been announced, but it would not be odd to see the Compass-based model sold below the Stelvio in the States. The last time Alfa Romeo had anything similar in its model portfolio was when it offered Crosswagon-badged four-wheel-drive versions of the 156 and 159 wagons. As for the Jeep Compass itself, it will begin to be built at the Melfi plant in Italy. The rumored small "baby" Jeep slotting under the Renegade has not yet been officially mentioned. Fiat will introduce a battery electric 500, built in Turin, and the Pomigliano plant that will make the compact Alfa Romeo SUV will also be used to build a mild hybrid version of the Panda city car. The 500X will gain a PHEV variant. The Stelvio platform will also spawn a corresponding SUV for Maserati, and FCA also mentioned Maserati will introduce a new, unnamed model it will make in Modena. Automotive News quotes Italian press as saying this will be the Alfieri coupe and convertible, also offered as battery electric versions. Related Video:
