1977 Alfa Romeo Spider In Excellent Condition - True Survivor Like Mbg & Triumph on 2040-cars

Here is an excellent, rust free true survivor car. You hear the term 'survivor' all the time but the term is usually used incorrectly. This unmolested car starts right up and runs terrific with an amazing exhaust note especially when you start winding her out - she screams. Has had very little annual mileage since 1976 or 1977. The car was manufactured in Aug. 1976 but is titled as a 1977 model year. It loves the curves and also the highway. Unlike my previous TR6, with this 5-speed car you are never running at high rpm on the highway and passing power is always on tap. The included Alfa Romero factory hard top is in excellent condition with only a small light scratch in the vinyl. The glass on the hard top and on the car is all excellent. The soft top is like brand new with excellent rear window. The original Alfa Romeo aluminum wheels are included as is the chrome Alfa luggage rack, jack, air conditioning unit and compressor (disconnected), the owners manual and a pile of receipts totaling quite a bit several hundred or over a thousand dollars. The alternator is quite new. The leather interior is quite good - there is a small hole in the passenger seat. The dual true side draft Weber cabs work great. The rotor, cap, wires and plugs are new. The car came up from Tennessee where it was originally purchased and spent the last 10 - 15 years here in Dallas, PA where it was only driven in the dry summer weather. The body has a few minor dents, dings and light scratches. The is a spot on the hood that look like a small split in the paint, perhaps from engine heat. There is a small crack in the dash. There is a small dent in the rear fender lip that was needs to be filled and smoothed, but is it NOT a rust hole, it is a minor dent. The floors are perfect as is the under side of the car. There is one or two small holes in the spare tire well which will be easy to repair. There is only a small paint bubble in the paint behind the right front wheel but is certainly not indicative of any major rocker rust as they are extremely solid and there is no where on the car where a magnet wont stick. I've agonized over selling this car since it is fully road worthy and antique plate/insurance eligible, but it will be much easier to sell then my 2 other project cars. The speedometer has stop working, but the mileage on the speedometer is 53,251 and the title reads 53,219. I bought the car last summer and have not driven it much at all as I am working on at 1974 TR6 and a 1946 Willys CJ2 project, but I put no more 400 - 500 miles on it. I was told the fix is not extremely difficult but haven't gotten to it. 2. The gas tank drips if it is more than apx. 1/3 full. I do not know if this is a hose or not. I simply do not fill it more than 1/3 full which is plenty of cruising time. 3. The oil pressure gauge isn't working, probably just the sending unit. (Temperature, fuel gauge and low fuel warning light work fine. Heat and defrost/fan work fine.) 4. The turn signal flasher isn't working so I must work the signal lever manually to signal a turn. This is probably just a matter of replacing the low-cost flasher but I'm not sure which part it is. 5. The passenger side wiper are is included but needs a new rubber. (cheap) 6. The car appears to have had an original color respray at some point in it's life and it is not extremely shiny, but it still looks great. Alfa Romeo's new CEO sees room to bring back the GTV and the Duetto
Fri, May 21 2021Alfa Romeo is open to reviving the GTV and the Duetto, two of its most emblematic nameplates, in the coming years. Whether either model returns partially depends on how well the firm's more mainstream models sell. "I'm very interested in the GTV. There is no statement or announcement at this stage, but I'm just giving you a personal feeling that I'm very interested in the GTV. I also love the Duetto," said Jean-Philippe Imparato, the Peugeot veteran who became Alfa Romeo's CEO under Stellantis, in an interview with Australia's CarSales. It's far too early to tell what each model would look like with any significant degree of certainty. Besides, we've been here before: in 2018, former Fiat-Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) boss Sergio Marchionne outlined a born-again GTV with 600 horsepower, some degree of electrification, all-wheel drive, and seating for four when he presented Alfa Romeo's bold five-year plan. That model has been canned, along with a 700-horsepower halo coupe called 8C. Playing it safe, Imparato cautioned that neither two-door has been approved for production. Alfa Romeo's range currently consists of the Giulia, the Stelvio and the 4C, though the latter is a niche model at the end of its life cycle. It needs to achieve volume before executives can begin exploring coupe and convertible options, and we're in a market where the quickest and most effective way to increase sales is to make SUVs and crossovers. The next new addition to the Alfa Romeo range is widely believed to be the production version of the Tonale concept from 2019. "Allow me to bring Alfa Romeo to a certain level of economic performance, and then we speak," Imparato stressed. "In this time of big changes for the industry, the first priority is to protect Alfa Romeo and drive it through the challenges related to electrification, connectivity and safety," he added. Coupes and convertibles will come later. Interestingly, he strongly hinted the reports claiming the rear-wheel-drive Giorgio platform is on its way out are false. In Alfa-speak, the GTV nameplate traces its roots to the Bertone-designed 105-Series coupe released in 1963. It was called Giulia Sprint GT at launch, and it became the Giulia Sprint GT Veloce (which means "fast" in Italian) in 1965. GTV is the acronym that stuck throughout the model's career. Alfa put the nameplate on the coupe version of the Alfetta (pictured), and it added the 6 suffix when it stuffed the 2.5-liter Busso V6 in the engine bay.

That's why in little more than a month we've seen Jaguar announce a continuation run of the D-Type, Porsche get a show at the Petersen Museum in Los Angeles, Land Rover plan to restore a Series I, and Jay Leno celebrate the 1942 Dodge Carryall. Fiat Chrysler already has a heritage division, but the vintage department takes a new step into its history with the "Reloaded by Creators" service. Said to be inspired by retail programs at museums, Reloaded by Creators will see FCA Heritage source and buy noteworthy classics from the Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Fiat, and Lancia brands, restore them to original spec, then sell them to collectors. When Roberto Giolito, head of FCA Heritage, broke the news at Retromobile in Paris, he also revealed the first five offerings: three "ultimate classics" in the Alfa Spider IV serie (1991), Lancia Fulvia Coupe Montecarlo (1973), Spidereuropa Pininfarina (1981), and two custom cars in the Alfa Romeo SZ (1989) and Lancia Appia Coupe (1959). The ultimate classics represent the last of their kind to be built, not necessarily according to model year, but with respect to design and engineering - no major model changes followed. The Lancia Fulvia Coupe ceased production in 1976; the limited edition 1973 Montecarlo model celebrated the car's victory in the 1972 Montecarlo Rally and still wears the original license plates. The 1981 Spidereuropa Pininfarina comes from the beginning of the end of production; after building the Fiat 124 Sport Spider for US-only sale from 1975 to 1983, Pininfarina resumed manufacture in Europe in 1982 and bestowed the new name. The Alfa Spider went out of production in 1993, the 1991 Series IV example for sale here has been in FCA's collection since it was built, used for technical testing. As for the custom cars, Lancia built a variant of its third-generation Appia as a coachbuilt chassis. Pininfarina bodied the 1959 model for sale here, and Fiat showed it first in Paris. Fiat used the funky, Zagato-designed, thermoplastic-composite-bodied, 1989 Alfa Romeo SZ for testing at the carmaker's Balocco circuit. Only around 1,000 SZ models emerged from the factory during a two-year production run. Each vehicle will come with a certificate of authenticity and be guaranteed by FCA, plus be featured on the FCA Heritage site.
